SunRay Saunas: Indoor, Outdoor, Barrel and Infrared, Each With Its Heater in the Box

SunRay's traditional saunas heat with a Harvia electric heater and a load of stones, in indoor cabins, outdoor cabins and western red cedar barrels. Pour water on the stones for steam, or keep the session dry. The outdoor infrared cabins use far infrared heaters set into the wall panels instead.

We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer, so the SunRay warranty applies in full. Every SunRay sauna ships free by freight to the curb in the lower 48 on a lift gate truck.

A January afternoon, and the path to the Seneca is shoveled. You switched the heater on at lunch; SunRay's manual allows 45 to 60 minutes for an outdoor cabin to come up to temperature. Snow sits on the roof, and the cedar benches show warm through the glass door. Inside, a ladle of water goes onto the stones and the steam rolls up toward the ceiling.

The Complete SunRay Sauna Lineup, Family by Family

Every SunRay sauna is in the grid at the top of this page, and every model is linked by name in the sizing tables further down. Choose the family by where it will stand and how it heats, then the size by who will use it.

Cabins for a basement, spare room or home gym, heated by a Harvia electric heater with stones for wet or dry sessions. What Sets SunRay Saunas Apart From Other Home Saunas

Three things SunRay puts in writing, each in a document we hold and can send you before you buy.

01

The heater is in the box

Every SunRay model

On every traditional and barrel model the heater ships with the sauna: a Harvia electric heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model, so there is no second purchase to size and match. The infrared cabins arrive with their far infrared heaters set into the wall panels.

Each product page lists the rest of what ships.

02

Barrels in 1 3/8 inch cedar

Solace, Aurora and Galley

Western red cedar staves, 1 3/8 inch thick, held in support cradles with stainless steel hardware under a shingled roof. SunRay lists an 8 hour delay timer, so the barrel can be warm when you get home.

SunRay rates the barrels for indoor or outdoor use.

03

Ten years on the structure

Every SunRay model

SunRay's written warranty covers the wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass for 10 years from purchase, and the heater and electrical parts for 1 year. That document, not a sales sheet, governs a claim.

Claims start with us, and we take them to SunRay.

SunRay Traditional or Infrared Sauna: How Each One Heats

SunRay heats its saunas with a Harvia heater and stones or with far infrared heaters. Pick the one you want before you pick the cabin; our infrared vs traditional sauna guide sets them side by side.

Traditional

A Harvia heater and stones

Indoor, outdoor and barrel models

A Harvia electric heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model, heats the air and a load of stones. The room reaches up to 170°F, SunRay's stated maximum, and its manuals recommend a setting of 125 to 170°F. Ladle water on the stones for steam or keep the session dry.

Warm up: 45 to 60 minutes for an outdoor cabin, about 30 for a barrel. Indoor warm-up varies by line; each product page gives its figure.

Infrared

Far infrared heaters in the walls

Outdoor infrared models

Far infrared heaters built into the wall panels warm the cabin to about 140°F, with no stones and no water. A digital control panel sets the time and temperature, and Bluetooth plays your audio. Power runs from 1,900 W on the Burlington to 4,800 W on the Pacific.

Burlington and Grandby run on 120 V; Cayenne, Logan and Pacific on 240 V.

What Size SunRay Sauna Do I Need? People, Exterior and Interior

Every figure is in inches, width by depth by height. For the outdoor cabins the exterior is the cabin and its overall height, with the roof footprint in brackets: the roof overhang is what has to fit your pad or deck. Open a family for each model's people, exterior and interior.

Before You Order a SunRay Sauna: What to Have Ready

These are the questions we ask before a SunRay order ships, answered here so your electrician and builder can check them now.

Electrician

Traditional and barrel models

240 V dedicated circuit

The Harvia heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model, is hard-wired by a licensed electrician on a dedicated 240 V circuit, sized to the heater manual, the NEC and local code. Never fit a plug or an extension cord to it.

Book the electrician for after the sauna is assembled.

Electrician

Outdoor infrared models

120 V or 240 V by model

Burlington is 1,900 W on a 120 V plug in a dedicated 20 A outlet. Grandby is 2,100 W on a dedicated 120 V outlet. Cayenne (2,400 W), Logan (2,800 W) and Pacific (4,800 W) each need a dedicated 240 V circuit.

We confirm the Grandby outlet with SunRay before it ships.

Foundation

Outdoor cabins and barrels

Level and solid, never the ground

SunRay's manuals call for a concrete pad, wood deck or pavers, with a moisture barrier where the site is damp. A barrel sits in its support cradles on a pad, deck or other solid surface. Measure the roof footprint, not the cabin.

The sizing tables above give each roof footprint.

Room and doors

Indoor cabins

Ceiling, doors and the route in

An indoor cabin arrives as panels in boxes and goes together in the room where it will stand. Check the ceiling against the exterior height, 75 to 80 inches by model, plus the 3 to 4 inches SunRay asks for above the roof. Walk the route the boxes will take through doors, stairs and turns.

Ask us for the carton sizes before you order.

Assembly

Crew and materials

Two to four adults by model

SunRay's manuals call for two to four adults, depending on the model. Seneca, Denali, Cayman and every outdoor infrared model also need sealant and a caulking gun at assembly. Sealant comes in the box with the Cayman, and with the Eagle, Bristow, Freeport and Waverly for their roof ridge caps.

Each model's manual sets the crew size.

Upkeep

Outdoor cabins and barrels

Reseal every year

SunRay asks for the exterior of an outdoor sauna with no weather cover to be resealed every year, and the warranty makes it a condition. Clean the interior with a water soluble cleaner suited to unfinished wood.

A weather cover changes the resealing rule; ask us.

SunRay Warranty, Delivery and Returns

Summarized from SunRay's written warranty and our SunRay delivery and return terms. The three policy pages linked below govern, and the warranty covers the original customer at the original delivery address.

Coverage Term What it means
Structure 10 years from purchase The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass; SunRay supplies the parts for the repair
Heater and electrical parts 1 year Parts replacement; labor for fitting a part is not covered
Use Residential Commercial use voids the warranty
Outdoor care Every year Reseal the exterior of an outdoor sauna that has no weather cover

Claims start with us, and we take them to SunRay for you; SunRay decides the cause and whether to repair or replace. Surface cracks and small blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Freight damage, alteration, misuse and setups that do not follow the manual are excluded. The full terms are on our SunRay warranty policy page.

Delivery

Free curbside freight

Lower 48, on a lift gate truck

Every SunRay sauna ships flat packed on a pallet, by freight, to the curb. The carrier calls to book a window and someone has to be there to sign. Each product page shows the delivery estimate in business days.

Delivery day

Inspect before you sign

Every carton and the pallet

Check every carton while the driver is there, note any damage on the delivery receipt, photograph it and call us before the driver leaves. Freight damage is not a warranty matter, so this check protects you.

A documented freight claim carries no restocking fee.

Assembly

Professional Setup & Assembly

Quoted for your address

On every SunRay indoor cabin you can request a quote for it on the product page: a third party crew unpacks, assembles and positions the cabin and takes the packaging away. Outdoor cabins, barrels and infrared are quoted for your address.

Returns

New, unassembled, in its crate

Tell us within 20 days of the date it ships; an assembled, wired or heated sauna counts as used. On a change of mind you pay the return freight, we never deduct the original shipping, and a 20% restocking fee may apply.

SunRay Saunas, Questions Answered

Are SunRay saunas any good?

Judge them on what SunRay puts in writing. Every traditional and barrel model ships with a Harvia electric heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model. The barrels are 1 3/8 inch western red cedar with stainless steel hardware. The structure carries a 10 year warranty on the panels, floor, ceiling and glass. What SunRay leaves to you is the circuit, the base and the assembly crew, so check those three against this page before you order.

Does a SunRay sauna come with a heater?

Yes. Every traditional and barrel model ships with its Harvia electric heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model, and the outdoor infrared cabins arrive with their far infrared heaters set into the wall panels. What is not in the box is the electrical work: a licensed electrician connects the heater once the sauna is assembled. Each product page lists everything else that ships with that model.

What electrical service does a SunRay sauna need?

Every traditional and barrel model has a Harvia electric heater, 3.5 to 6 kW by model, on a dedicated 240 V circuit hard-wired by a licensed electrician. The electrician sizes the circuit to the heater manual, the NEC and local code. On the infrared line, Burlington uses a 120 V plug in a dedicated 20 A outlet, Grandby a dedicated 120 V outlet, and Cayenne, Logan and Pacific a dedicated 240 V circuit.

How hot does a SunRay sauna get?

The traditional and barrel saunas reach up to 170°F, SunRay's stated maximum, and its manuals recommend a setting of 125 to 170°F. The manuals allow 45 to 60 minutes to warm an outdoor cabin and about 30 minutes for a barrel. The outdoor infrared cabins heat to about 140°F. On a traditional heater, ladle water on the stones for steam or keep the session dry.

What wood are SunRay saunas made of?

Hemlock on Baldwin, Southport and Tiburon, on the LX line (Rockledge and Galaxie), on Eagle, Bristow, Freeport, Waverly and Cayman, and on every infrared cabin. Western red cedar on Seneca, Denali and every barrel. Cedar on Aston, Hampton and Charleston, with no species named in SunRay's data sheets.

Which SunRay saunas can go outdoors, and what do they stand on?

The outdoor traditional cabins, the barrels and the infrared cabins; SunRay's warranty keeps the indoor cabins indoors. Outdoors, set the sauna on a level, solid base: a concrete pad, a wood deck or pavers, never directly on the ground, with a moisture barrier where the site is damp. A barrel sits in its support cradles. Size the base to the roof footprint in the sizing tables, not the cabin.

How does a SunRay sauna arrive, and who puts it together?

Free by freight to the curb in the lower 48, flat packed on a pallet, on a lift gate truck. The carrier calls to book a window, and someone has to be there to check every carton and sign. SunRay's manuals call for two to four adults to assemble it, by model. On the indoor cabins and the outdoor models alike, we quote Professional Setup & Assembly for your address; request it on the product page.

What warranty comes with a SunRay sauna?

Ten years on the structure from the date of purchase: the wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, with SunRay supplying the parts for a repair. The heater and electrical parts carry 1 year, parts replacement with labor excluded. SunRay saunas are for residential use, and commercial use voids the warranty. An outdoor sauna with no weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized SunRay dealer, and what does that mean for my warranty?

Yes. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer. SunRay's warranty covers saunas bought directly from SunRay or its third party affiliates, so it applies in full. Any claim starts with us, and we take it to SunRay for you. Every SunRay sauna ships free by freight to the curb in the lower 48, and you can pay over time with Shop Pay at checkout.
