2 Person Saunas

Most listings lead with wood and features. What decides whether a 2 person sauna works in your home is power: every infrared cabin here runs on 120V, and every stove-heated model needs a 240V circuit and an electrician. We carry indoor infrared cabins, traditional rooms and outdoor models as a factory-authorized dealer. Call (888) 500-5675 and we'll help you check each model's electrical requirement against its manual.

2 Person Saunas: What Fits, What Plugs In, What Needs an Electrician

A two person sauna seats two adults side by side. Most here are indoor infrared cabins on roughly 4 by 4 feet of floor or less, on 120V. The rest are stove-heated rooms, indoors or out, on 240V.

Below: how much bench two people get, which heat type suits a couple, what 120V means, and what changes outside.

How Much Room a 2 Person Sauna Really Gives Two People

Capacity is the maker's rating, not a promise of elbow room. Interior width, roughly the bench you share, tells you more.

1 to 2 person cabins

Built for one, room for two

About 35 to 36 in wide inside

About 39 by 36 inches outside. One of our listings puts it plainly: one adult sits comfortably, two slim adults share with shoulder contact.

Fits: mostly solo, sometimes two

Full 2 person cabins

Two side by side

About 42 to 45 in wide inside

Most are about 46 to 50 inches wide outside and 40 to 42 deep. Corner models put the bench across a corner, on a squarer footprint.

Fits: two adults most nights

Traditional rooms

More bench, more height

About 45 to 56 in wide inside, where published

Taller, about 78 to 89 inches outside. Range-rated rooms run wider, and some add a lower bench or footrest step.

Fits: two who want room to move

Some saunas are rated for a range, such as 2 to 4 people, so they belong here too and a title may say 3-Person or 4-Person. Usually alone? Look at 1 person cabins. Three regulars? Step up to a 3 person room. More on how to size an infrared sauna.

2 Person Infrared Sauna, Traditional or Hybrid?

Most models here are infrared; the stove-heated ones need more wiring.

Infrared

Radiant panels on 120V

Indoor cabins on this page

Mostly carbon panels on the walls and under the bench, a few with a ceramic heater. Most list a 140°F top temperature; some add near infrared for full spectrum.

Suits: weeknight sessions on 120V

Traditional

Stove, stones and steam

Indoor rooms and outdoor models

An electric stove heats the room and stones, and water on the stones makes steam. Stove-included models list up to 190°F; every one needs 240V.

Suits: two who want real heat and steam

Hybrid

Both heat types in one room

Outdoor cabins at this size

Full spectrum panels and an electric stove share one room and one 240V circuit. You pick a mode for each session; check the listing for whether the two can run together.

Suits: a pair who disagree on heat

2 Person Indoor Saunas: What 120V Really Means

Every infrared cabin here lists 120V at 15 amps, and most are sold as plug and play. That's half the answer; the other half is the circuit behind the outlet.

The makers' manuals call for a dedicated 15A circuit: nothing else on that breaker draws power while the sauna runs. GFCI guidance differs by maker, so check your model's manual and have your electrician confirm.

Swipe the table sideways to see every column.

What you are buying Who connects it Power, as listed Where it can go
Infrared cabin You plug it in; an electrician adds a dedicated circuit if needed 120V, 15A, on a dedicated 15A circuit per the makers' manuals Indoors
Traditional room, stove included A licensed electrician for each circuit 240V, 30A for the 6 kW stove, plus 120V, 15A for controls and lights Indoors or outdoors, by model
Traditional room or kit, heater sold separately A licensed electrician, from the heater's manual 240V, sized to the heater (4.5 or 6 kW on the makers' lists) Indoors or outdoors, by model
Outdoor hybrid A licensed electrician One 240V circuit for both heat sources, sized by the maker Outdoors, on a level base
The costly mistake at this size: assuming a 2 person sauna can share any outlet. Even infrared cabins want a dedicated circuit, and stove-heated models need 240V, so book the electrician early.

2 Person Outdoor Saunas: What Changes Outside

Every infrared cabin here is listed for indoor use, so a 2 person outdoor sauna is stove-heated: barrels, cube kits, cabins and hybrids built for outdoor use.

The base comes first: one barrel listing asks for a surface level to within a quarter inch that drains away, and the cube kit's manual calls for a level, drained foundation.

Then the power run: a 240V line from your panel, plus a 120V, 15A circuit on some models, with wire sized to the distance. Your area may require a permit, so ask your building department early.

Then delivery. Freight stops at the curb or driveway, so check your gate against the crate or pallet size. Like the round shape? See our larger barrel saunas too.

What Drives the Cost of a 2 Person Sauna

Each product card shows the current price. These are what move the total once you've picked a type.

Cost item What moves it for two
The sauna Heat type, then wood (hemlock or cedar), EMF tier, full spectrum elements and extras.
The heater Included on infrared cabins and on rooms sold with a stove; kits and some rooms list it separately.
Electrical work For an infrared cabin, a dedicated 15A circuit if you lack one. Stove-heated models need 240V, and outdoors a run to the yard.
Site and delivery A level floor indoors, a prepared base outdoors. Most models include freight to the contiguous 48 states; a few charge it at checkout.
Running cost Kilowatts on the spec sheet, times session hours with warm-up, times your rate per kWh. The FAQ has an example.

Before You Order: Six Checks for Two

Worth ten minutes before you buy.

  • Decide who sits most nights. For two adults most nights, look for an interior 42 inches wide or more.
  • Plan the circuit first. An infrared cabin wants a 15A outlet on a dedicated circuit within reach of its cord, with no extension cord or adapter.
  • Follow the manual on GFCI. Guidance differs by maker, so go by your model's manual and your electrician.
  • Book the electrician early for a stove. Traditional and hybrid models need 240V, and the sauna can't run until that circuit is in.
  • Choose the heater with the room or kit. Pick from the maker's list; code requires a heater guard, so ask whether one is included and fits.
  • Measure height and the path in. Exteriors here run about 73 to 89 inches tall, and some roofs overhang the listed depth.

Questions Couples Ask About 2 Person Saunas

How big is a 2 person sauna, inside and out?

Outside, most 2 person infrared cabins here are about 46 to 50 inches wide and 40 to 42 deep, and 1 to 2 person cabins about 39 by 36. Inside, they give about 42 to 45 and 35 to 36 inches of bench width. Stove-heated models run larger, from about 53 by 51 inches (cube kit) or 60 by 46 (indoor room) up to about 85 by 65.

Does a 2 person infrared sauna plug into a regular outlet?

Every infrared cabin in this collection lists 120V at 15 amps, and most are sold as plug and play. The makers' manuals call for a dedicated 15A circuit, so nothing else on that breaker draws power during a session. Check your model's manual with your electrician, or call (888) 500-5675 and we'll go through its manual with you.

Does a 2 person traditional sauna need 240V?

Yes. Every traditional and hybrid model here needs 240V. Rooms sold with a 6 kW stove list 240V at 30 amps plus a separate 120V, 15A circuit for controls and lights; hybrids use one 240V circuit sized by the maker. A licensed electrician connects them and sizes the breaker and wire from the heater manual and local code.

Is the heater included with a 2 person traditional sauna?

It depends on the model. Some rooms ship with an electric stove; others, rooms and kits, list the heater separately with the maker's recommended output, 4.5 or 6 kW at this size. Your electrician sizes the circuit from the heater manual, and we can match a heater to your sauna.

Can I put a 2 person sauna outside?

Only an outdoor-rated model. Every infrared cabin here is listed for indoor use, so the outdoor options are barrels, cube kits, cabins and hybrids built for outdoor use. Each needs a level base and a 240V line from your panel, and some also need a 120V, 15A circuit.

Can I put a 2 person sauna in an apartment or condo?

An infrared cabin is the practical choice: it arrives as panels, runs on a 120V, 15A outlet and needs no plumbing. Check your lease or building rules, plan the dedicated 15A circuit the makers' manuals call for, and measure hallways. A traditional room needs a new 240V circuit, so ask the building first.

How much does a 2 person sauna cost to run?

Multiply rated kilowatts by hours of use, including warm-up, then by your utility rate. An infrared cabin rated about 1.7 kW, used three hours a week, draws about 5.1 kWh at full rated power. A 6 kW stove over the same hours draws up to 18 kWh, and less once it cycles at temperature.

Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized dealer for these 2 person saunas?
