How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Grandby is a 3 person outdoor infrared sauna on 120 V household power

The Grandby, SunRay's 300D3, widens the pitched roof D3 cabin to 69 inches so a third person fits on the bench. It is built in hemlock under a metal roof, warmed by far-infrared heaters to about 140 F, and it still runs at 120 V from a dedicated outlet rather than a 240 V line. That makes it the largest SunRay outdoor infrared cabin you can run without 240 V wiring: the one to choose when two seats feel tight and you want to avoid running a 240 V line across the yard.

Seats

Three adults

A wide bench across a 55 inch interior, 43 inches deep, with 68 inches of headroom above it.

Warmth

About 140 F

Far-infrared heaters set in the panels, ready in roughly 8 to 15 minutes by SunRay's manual.

Wiring

120 V, no 240 V run

A household voltage outlet of its own, sized by a licensed electrician once we confirm the rated current with SunRay.

Three seats

SunRay Grandby size: the 3 person outdoor sauna footprint

The Grandby is 69 inches wide and 47 deep as a cabin, and 79 by 61 inches once the roof's overhang is counted. The roof figure is the one your pad or deck has to carry.

Capacity Up to three adults

Two seats or three

The step from the Burlington to the Grandby is almost all width: 12 more inches of interior from side to side, the same 68 inch ceiling and only 2 more inches of depth. That extra width is what turns a two seat bench into a three seat one. If the third seat is for an occasional guest, it also means two regular users have elbow room.

The height of 87 inches is measured to the ridge of the pitched roof. Under a tree or beside a low eave, measure that first, and allow for the overhang, which is 10 inches wider than the cabin.

Heat and controls

Far-infrared heat in the SunRay Grandby 3 person sauna

A dry cabin: heaters in the walls and bench, a room that settles at about 140 F, and no stones, water or steam.

Each heater sits in its panel when the Grandby arrives, wired to a plug. As the bench goes in during assembly you join those plugs, and the heaters then answer to the control panel. SunRay's D3 manual gives 120 to 140 F as the normal setting and allows roughly 8 to 15 minutes for warm-up. When the air reaches the number you set, the heaters switch themselves off and back on to hold it, rather than running flat out for the whole session.

Infrared sessions run at cooler air temperatures than a Finnish sauna. The trade-off is that you cannot ladle water for a burst of steam. Our guide to infrared or traditional sauna heat lays out the differences before you commit to one.

On the LED control panel

SunRay calls it an LED control panel, and the D3 manual sets out what each button does: on and off, a timer, temperature with a Fahrenheit or Celsius readout, a color-changing LED light that steps through red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and cyan, the interior light and a music key. Music comes from a phone over Bluetooth, where the cabin shows up as "audio", or from a USB stick.

Construction

Hemlock and a metal roof: how the SunRay Grandby is built

The wood, the roof and the finish are what decide how the Grandby looks after a few winters.

Hemlock walls, sealed outside

SunRay builds the Grandby in hemlock. The outside is sealed before it ships, and SunRay's manual asks for the exterior to be resealed every year, or whenever it starts to look thirsty. The warranty certificate makes that yearly reseal your responsibility on any outdoor sauna left without a weather cover, so put it in the calendar with the gutters.

A pitched metal roof

Over the interior ceiling sit two metal roof panels, fixed with screws. Sealant goes between them before and after fastening and along the inside edges of the roof cover, which is where water would otherwise find a way in. A vent in the ceiling lets warm air out when you want the room a little cooler.

The interior

Recessed lighting, a reading light and the color-changing LED light overhead, cup holders, a backrest and the built-in Bluetooth speakers.

Before you order

Getting a yard and an outlet ready for the SunRay Grandby

Six checks, and the electrical one deserves the most attention on this model.

  • Ground that is flat and firmA wooden deck, a concrete pad or pavers, per SunRay's manual. Where pavers or damp soil touch the floor, a moisture barrier goes underneath
  • 79 by 61 inches of roof roomPlus 87 inches of height, measured clear of overhanging branches, eaves and gutters
  • An outlet that serves nothing else120 V, dedicated to the sauna alone, close enough that no extension cord is needed
  • A carry routeAbout 609 pounds of freight comes off at the curb; check the gate, path and any steps to the site
  • Helpers and sealantTwo adults at minimum, plus sealant and a caulking gun for the joints SunRay's manual marks
  • Local rulesCheck with the building department and any homeowners association on permits and on setbacks from fences and lot lines before you pick the spot

The Grandby's 120 V circuit, in plain terms

The Grandby runs from an outlet dedicated to the sauna. At 2,100 watts on a 120 V supply the circuit is close to household limits, and the heaters draw their full load for long stretches, so we leave its size to your licensed electrician, working to the National Electrical Code.

Ask us for the rated current before you book the electrician. We confirm the Grandby's rated current with SunRay on request, so your electrician has it in writing. What we can state now: 2,100 W, 120 V, a dedicated outlet that nothing else shares, installed to the NEC and your local code.

Running cost

SunRay Grandby electricity cost per session, month and year

The inputs: SunRay's 2,100 watts, or 2.1 kilowatts, and 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, the June 2026 US residential average from the EIA Electric Power Monthly.

Per session

29 cents

45 minutes at full power: up to 15 minutes warming, then the 30 minute session SunRay's manual sets as the limit. 1.58 kilowatt hours.

Per month

$4.62

Sixteen sessions, roughly four a week, for 25.2 kilowatt hours.

Per year

$55.46

Sixteen a month all year, 302.4 kilowatt hours.

Read these as the top of the range. Once the cabin is up to temperature the heaters cycle, so they are not drawing 2.1 kilowatts every minute. Your utility bill gives your own rate; multiply it by the kilowatt hours above.

What you get

What ships with the SunRay Grandby outdoor infrared sauna

Panels with the heaters installed, a metal roof, and the fittings to finish the inside. You provide the outlet and the base. SunRay does not say whether sealant ships in the crate, so keep a tube and a caulking gun on hand.

Assembly

SunRay Grandby outdoor sauna assembly

A latch-together cabin, a screw-down roof, and sealant wherever weather meets a joint.

Two adults is SunRay's minimum crew for the Grandby. The floor goes down first on the prepared base, with a moisture barrier beneath if the surface is pavers or damp. Each wall gets a bead of sealant along its bottom edge before it is set in place: the back wall, then the two sides, which latch to the floor, then the front, which latches to the sides.

The bench comes next. Fit the vertical bench panel, join the heater plugs inside it, then screw the bench top on. The backrest and door handle follow. When the interior ceiling goes up, its leads for the color light and reading light pass out through the top to connect with the matching leads in the roof. Then the metal roof: two panels with sealant between them, screwed down, the roof cover sealed along its inside edges, and a last round of sealant on the outside joints shown in the manual.

Pick a dry spell so the sealant sets before rain reaches it.

Delivery day

What happens when the SunRay Grandby is delivered

It travels by freight at no charge to addresses in the lower 48 and is unloaded at the curb from a lift gate truck. Your delivery estimate, in business days, is in the buy box.

Ahead of time

The carrier phones to set a window. An adult must be there to receive it, and a helper makes the 609 pound shipment far easier to move.

With the driver

Walk the whole shipment before you sign. Any dent, split carton or water stain gets photographed and written on the delivery receipt.

After unloading

Open the cartons somewhere dry and look over the panels and roof sheets before the packing goes in the recycling.

If something is visibly damaged, record it on the receipt while the driver waits. Then call us at (888) 500-5675 before the truck pulls away, and we will decide with you whether to accept it. Freight terms are in the SunRay shipping policy.

Returns. The window is 20 days from the date it ships, with the cabin unassembled and in its original crate. A change-of-mind return means you pay the return freight and a 20% restocking fee may apply, and the original shipping is never deducted. Full steps: the SunRay return policy.

Two seats and a smaller pad point to the Burlington. A fourth seat means the Cayenne, at the cost of a 240 V circuit. The Pacific also seats four in the modern D6 style with more headroom, and draws the most power of SunRay's outdoor infrared models.

Warranty

The SunRay Grandby warranty, in plain terms

Buyer questions

SunRay Grandby 3 person outdoor infrared sauna questions

How big is the SunRay Grandby 3 person sauna?

The Grandby cabin measures 69 inches wide, 47 deep and 87 tall at the roof ridge. Its metal roof covers 79 by 61 inches, so size the base to that. The interior is 55 by 43 inches with a 68 inch ceiling, and the rear bench seats up to three adults.

Does the SunRay Grandby need 240 V?

No. The Grandby runs at 120 V, 2,100 watts, from an outlet dedicated to the sauna. The circuit size is a decision for a licensed electrician, and we confirm the rated current with SunRay for you on request.

How long does the SunRay Grandby take to warm up?

SunRay's D3 manual allows about 8 to 15 minutes. The usual setting is 120 to 140 F, and the Grandby heats to about 140 F. Once the air reaches the setting, the heaters turn off and on by themselves to keep it steady, which is why running costs come in under the full-power figure.

Is the SunRay Grandby a steam sauna?

No. The Grandby is a dry far-infrared sauna with no stove and no stones, so there is nothing to pour water on. SunRay's manual warns that excess water stains or warps the wood, so towel off before sitting down. For steam you would need a traditional sauna with an electric heater.

What does the SunRay Grandby warranty cover?

Ten years on the wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, and one year on the heaters and electrical components, parts only with labor excluded. Cover is for home use by the original owner, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover must have its exterior resealed every year, a responsibility SunRay's certificate places on the owner.

How does the SunRay Grandby arrive?

As flat panels on a pallet, a 609 pound shipment, by freight. Delivery is free to the lower 48 and curbside, from a truck with a lift gate. The carrier books a time, an adult signs for it, and any damage you can see is written on the delivery receipt before the driver goes.

What do I need to assemble the SunRay Grandby?

Two adults at least, the screws SunRay supplies, and sealant with a caulking gun, since the manual seals the wall bottoms, the roof seams and the finished outside joints.

Should I pick the SunRay Grandby or the SunRay Cayenne?

Pick the Grandby if three seats are enough and 120 V is what the site offers. The Cayenne is ten inches wider, seats four and carries ten far-infrared heaters, but it runs on a 240 V dedicated circuit at 2,400 watts, which is usually the larger electrical job.

One last thing
