How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Aurora 300SH: a 2 to 4 person cedar barrel sauna with facing benches

Five feet long and six across, the Aurora puts two cedar benches face to face with a 6 kW Harvia electric heater and its stones at the far end. SunRay seats two to four people in it, and a person on their own has a whole bench.

For a backyard deck, a patio or a covered spot indoors, it is the next size up from the Solace in SunRay's barrel line, the one that turns a sauna for two into one for friends. Browse all our barrel saunas.

Who it fits

Two to four

Benches on both sides of a 51 inch long interior, with backrests.

The heat

Stones you pour on

A 6 kW Harvia heater with stones: dry heat, or steam from a ladle of water.

The build

Thick red cedar

Western red cedar staves 1 3/8 inches thick, banded in metal under a shingled roof.

Watch

Watch the SunRay Aurora in SunRay's barrel sauna film

SunRay's own one minute film covers the Solace, the Aurora and the Galley together, with a note that the size varies by model.

Filmed on a finished barrel standing on a pallet, it starts with the curve of the shingled roof and the black cradles beneath, then turns to the front: a tall glass door with a long pull handle and a small window on either side. Inside, the camera finds two benches running along the sides and facing each other, the layout the Aurora uses, with the heater in its wooden frame between them at the back. It lingers on the white dome light, a small black unit on the back wall above the heater, and the round thermo-hygrometer.

Fit

SunRay Aurora dimensions: about 5 by 6 feet for up to four people

The Aurora's footprint is 72 by 61 inches, per SunRay's 2026 data sheet. Inside, 51 inches of length gives each of the two facing benches room for two people.

Two benches, two ways to use them

With benches down both sides, four people sit two and two, knees toward the middle, and the heater is shared from the back wall. With two people aboard, each has a bench to themselves; SunRay's own description points out the extra room to stretch out when you sauna alone. The interior is 12 inches longer than the Solace's, so each of the two facing benches is longer: room for two people per side.

The heat

SunRay Aurora heater: a 6 kW Harvia with sauna stones

The barrel manual rates every SunRay barrel at 6,000 W, and the Aurora's heater is a 6 kW Harvia electric unit standing in a wooden frame at the back wall.

Steam from a ladle

Pour water over the hot stones and the steam rolls back over both benches; leave the ladle in the bucket and it stays a dry sauna. The stones, the wooden bucket and ladle, and a thermo-hygrometer are all in the box.

From cold to ready

SunRay's manual gives about 30 minutes for the heat-up, after which the heater cycles on and off to hold the thermostat setting. The top of the range is 170 F, the maximum SunRay states. Sessions, the manual says, should stay at 30 minutes or less.

A delayed start

According to SunRay, a delay timer is built in, so the start can be set up to eight hours before you want to use it.

Construction

What the SunRay Aurora barrel sauna is made of

Most of the strength is in the barrel itself: thick cedar staves fixed to a frame and pulled tight by metal bands.

Western red cedar, 1 3/8 inches thick

SunRay specifies solid western red cedar for the staves, in lumber 1 3/8 inches thick, and joins them with what it calls ball-and-socket construction. Every third or fourth stave is screwed to the frame through holes drilled at the factory, and stainless steel hardware holds the rest together.

Bands, cradles and roof

Metal bands wrap the barrel and tighten with latch bolts. The barrel rests on solid support cradles, and shingle tiles screw on over the top as the roof.

Inside the door

A flat floor kit levels the floor, the benches carry ergonomic backrests, and a dome light hangs on the back wall. The door is tempered glass, with a window on each side.

The one maintenance rule

If the Aurora stands outdoors with no weather cover, SunRay's warranty requires the exterior to be resealed every year so the wood does not deteriorate.

More saunas built for the yard: our outdoor saunas and traditional saunas.

Before you order

Getting ready for a SunRay Aurora: base, power, people

Settle these before the order ships and the barrel can go up on the day it arrives.

  • The baseA concrete pad, a wood deck or patio pavers, level and solid, 72 by 61 inches or larger. SunRay's manual rules out setting the barrel straight onto the ground
  • Damp groundIf moisture can reach the floor, lay a moisture barrier or floor separator first, as the manual asks
  • Power240 V, on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician who works from the heater manual and the National Electrical Code
  • HandsAt least two to three adults for the build, per the manual
  • AccessStaves and panels come off the truck at the curb. Measure the gate or side path to the yard
  • Local rulesPlacing it outside? The building department, and an HOA if there is one, can say whether a backyard sauna needs a permit and what setback from the property line applies
Indoors or out. SunRay lists its barrels for indoor or outdoor use. Indoors, give it a solid level floor and the same dedicated circuit, and check the 76 inch height against the ceiling.

Running cost

How much electricity a SunRay Aurora uses

The inputs: the 6 kW heater, and the June 2026 US residential average from the EIA Electric Power Monthly, 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour. Your bill has your own rate.

A 90 minute evening

$1.65

Warm-up plus two rounds on the bench: 9 kilowatt hours at full power.

Twice a week for a year

$172

104 evenings of 90 minutes: 156 hours, 936 kilowatt hours.

Each of four, per evening

41 cents

The 90 minute evening split four ways.

These assume the heater never rests. In practice it cycles once the barrel is at temperature, so the real cost is lower; a cold night outdoors stretches the warm-up and pulls it back toward these figures.

What you get

The SunRay Aurora package, and what you provide

The kit is complete down to the shingles and the ladle. The base, the circuit and the crew come from you.

Required before it runs

  • At least two to three adultsThe manual's assembly crew

Roof Shingle tiles
Interior Flat floor kit, two benches with ergonomic backrests, dome light

Assembly

Assembling the SunRay Aurora barrel

One SunRay manual covers every SunRay barrel. For the Aurora it means two to three adults at least, and a build that grows from the base up.

Lay the bottom supports on the prepared pad and check them for level. A metal strip goes over the supports, about 39 inches from the left end, and the bottom wood panel sits centered on them, with eight slats set to its left and right. Screw the back wall sections together and stand them, do the same with the front wall, and set the middle strip of the roof.

Now the curve fills in. Stave by stave the sides go on, screwed to the frame every third or fourth stave where the factory has drilled. Close the metal bands and draw them tight with the latch bolts. Inside, the floor goes down, the bars on the back wall are tightened, and the bench supports carry the two benches and their backrests. Outside, screw the shingle tiles to the roof, then fit the door handle, build the stove frame and attach the accessories.

Last, mount the dome light on the back wall and clip its white wire around the edge to the heater, for your electrician to connect.

Delivery day

SunRay Aurora barrel sauna delivery to your curb

Free freight to the lower 48, delivered to the curb on a lift gate truck once the freight company has called to agree on a window. Delivery estimates in the buy box are in business days.

Before the truck

Pad finished, helpers lined up, and someone home who can sign.

While the driver waits

Inspect each carton and the pallet. Photograph anything crushed, torn or wet and write it on the receipt.

Opening up

Check the glass door and a sample of staves before you clear away the packaging.

Mark damage on the receipt, then call (888) 500-5675 while the driver is still at the curb and we decide together whether to accept the shipment. Freight damage is the carrier's to answer for, not SunRay's warranty. See the SunRay delivery terms.

Returns. A barrel can come back within 20 days from the date it ships, unassembled and in its original crate. If you change your mind, you pay the return freight and a 20% restocking fee may apply; the original shipping is never deducted. Read the SunRay return policy before you start one.

Warranty

SunRay Aurora barrel sauna warranty terms

The SunRay Saunas Warranty Certificate sets the cover, and SunRay confirmed in writing that it is the version in force.

From the certificate
10 years Wooden panels, flooring, ceiling, glass; repair parts
1 year Heater and electrical components; parts only, labor not included
Outdoors Exterior resealed every year when there is no weather cover
Owner Original customer, original delivery address, home use; cannot be transferred

Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood do not count as defects. SunRay decides the cause of any fault and must agree in writing before a repair you expect to recover; where parts cannot fix a structural defect it may replace the sauna, leaving the owner to assemble the new one. Use in a business, carrier damage, alteration, misuse and installation outside the instructions void the cover, and the interior should be cleaned only with a water soluble cleaner for unfinished wood. Our SunRay warranty page summarizes it, and we will send you the certificate.
