How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Southport is a 3 person indoor traditional sauna built around one long bench

SunRay's Southport (model 300SN) puts three people on a single bench that spans the back wall of a hemlock cabin 69 inches wide. A 4.5 kW Harvia electric heater with stones does the heating, so you can sit in dry heat or ladle water for a round of steam.

Pick it when two seats are too few and a two tier cabin is more room than you have. It keeps the 75 inch height of SunRay's smaller cabin, which matters in basements, and asks for only 47 inches of depth. Browse every traditional sauna we carry.

Seats

Three in a row

65 inches of bench along the back wall, with a backrest behind it.

The heat

Dry or steam

A Harvia heater with a load of stones, and a bucket and ladle to wet them.

Where it fits

Under a 7 foot ceiling

75 inches tall, so a room of about 79 inches clears it, on 69 by 47 inches of floor.

Watch

SunRay Southport 3 person indoor sauna, on film

A phone walkaround in a showroom: the three panel glass front, a narrow fixed pane on each side of the glass door, seen straight on and from the corner, then along one side.

Then the door opens on its curved wooden handle and the camera goes in. You see the single long bench with its slatted headrest, the thermometer and hygrometer dial beside the sand timer, the caged ceiling light and the vent slots in the ceiling, the bucket and ladle on the bench, and the Harvia heater in its wooden guard rail, with its two control knobs and a look down into the heater before its stones go in. It runs silent.

Fit

SunRay Southport 3 person sauna size and seating

The cabin is 69 inches across and 47 deep. Inside, the walls leave 65 by 43 inches, and almost all of that width is bench.

SunRay photographs the Southport in a bedroom: the long bench and the bucket are visible through the glass front.

Three across, or two with room to spread out

Divide 65 inches by three and each bather gets a little under 22 inches of bench. With two people the same bench feels generous. A single bench also keeps everyone at one height, so nobody sits in cooler air below the others.

Height and headroom

The roof of the cabin is 75 inches off the floor. SunRay wants a gap of 3 to 4 inches or more above it, which puts the minimum room height at about 79 inches, comfortably inside a 7 foot basement or an 8 foot spare room. Inside, 69 inches of height leaves a seated adult plenty of clearance over their head.

The heat

The 4.5 kW Harvia heater in the SunRay Southport traditional sauna

The heater mounts to the wall on a rack, inside a wooden guard rail, and carries the stones that make steam possible.

Löyly on your terms

Finns call the burst of steam off the stones löyly. In the Southport you make it with the wooden bucket and ladle SunRay includes: a ladle of water on the hot stones raises the humidity straight away. Skip the water and it is a dry sauna. The thermo-hygrometer on the wall reads out both temperature and relative humidity, which helps you learn how much water your group likes.

Temperature and warm-up

SunRay rates its indoor traditional cabins up to 170 F and describes 160 to 170 F as the normal range for a session. Expect 45 to 60 minutes of preheating: that is how long SunRay's Harvia heater sheet says the room takes to reach a usable temperature, so a cold room starts the heater further back. You pick the temperature on the heater itself, with the two knobs on its front.

Handle the heater as you would a stove. The stones and the casing burn on contact, and the manual cautions against pouring too much water on the stones at once because the steam comes off boiling hot. Never dry towels or clothes over the heater.

Construction

Inside the SunRay Southport hemlock sauna cabin

A hemlock room with a glass door, a backrest and a vented ceiling, plus a cup holder for the water you will want.

The wood

SunRay's Southport is hemlock throughout: the walls, floor, bench and backrest. It is a light colored softwood with a fine, straight grain.

Door, light and ventilation

A tempered glass door opens the front. An interior light sits on the ceiling, and SunRay's ventilation system lets moist air out through the ceiling after a steam round, so you can bring the temperature down a little without opening the door.

Small things that come in the box

A cup holder, the bucket and ladle, a sand timer and the thermo-hygrometer.

Before you order

Getting a room ready for the SunRay Southport indoor sauna

Settle these before you check out and the cabin can go up as soon as the cartons are inside.

  • About 79 inches of ceilingThe 75 inch cabin plus the gap of 3 to 4 inches SunRay asks for overhead
  • Its own 240 V circuitRun from your panel and hard-wired to the heater by a licensed electrician
  • A flat floorEverything stacks on the bottom panel, so level ground keeps the walls true
  • Indoors onlyThis cabin has no weather roof, and the warranty restricts indoor saunas to indoor use

Talk to an electrician first

The Southport cannot plug into a wall outlet. Its 4.5 kW heater needs a 240 V line that serves nothing else, connected directly to the heater by a licensed electrician; SunRay's manual says the heater may only be connected by an authorized professional. Your electrician works out the circuit from the Harvia manual that ships with the heater and from the National Electrical Code, so ask for that quote while the sauna is still in transit.

Running cost

SunRay Southport sauna electricity cost, worked out

The inputs: a 4.5 kW heater, and 18.34 cents per kWh, which the EIA's Electric Power Monthly reports as the US residential average for June 2026.

Per session

$1.24

An hour of preheat plus 30 minutes inside: 6.75 kWh.

Per month

$16.09

Three evenings a week: roughly 19.5 hours or 87.75 kWh.

Per year

$193

The same routine all year: 234 hours, 1,053 kWh.

Each figure assumes the heater runs at full power the whole time, which it does not: after the cabin reaches the set temperature, the thermostat switches it on and off to hold it there. The figures do not change with the number of people, because they already assume full power. Use the rate on your own bill to get your number.

Assembly

SunRay Southport sauna assembly

The same SunRay manual covers the Southport and its two seat sibling, in a dozen numbered steps.

Match the cartons first: each set is numbered, and the manual says parts from different numbers cannot be swapped or mixed. Lay the floor panel. Seat the back wall in its groove, knowing it needs the sides before it stands firm. Screw the left wall to the back, then the right, close the box with the front panel and lift the roof on. The bench goes in as a vertical panel and then the seat on top.

Then the heater. Screw its rack to the wall, let the electrician make the connection, hook the heater onto the rack and lock it with a screw, and fit the guard rail around it. Finish with the ceiling light and the temperature sensor, which mounts above the heater about 4 inches below the ceiling.

Plan on two adults at minimum.

Delivery day

How SunRay Southport sauna delivery works at the curb

Freight to the curb is free in the lower 48, and the truck has a lift gate. SunRay's product sheet gives the shipping weight as 524 pounds. Your delivery window, in business days, is in the buy box.

Before delivery

Clear a path from the curb to the room, and line up a helper for the day the carrier books.

At the truck

An adult must sign. Check every carton on every face before signing, and photograph anything crushed, torn or wet.

Before you build

Open the cartons and look over the glass and each panel straight away, before any of it is screwed together.

Returns: tell us within 20 days of the ship date, which is in your tracking email, while the cabin is still unassembled. A change-of-mind return means you cover the freight back and a 20% restocking fee may apply; the original shipping is never taken off your refund.

Write any visible damage on the delivery receipt, then phone us at (888) 500-5675 before the driver pulls away. Our SunRay shipping policy sets out the freight terms, and the SunRay return policy covers returns.

The range

How the SunRay Southport compares with the other SunRay indoor saunas

Every cabin in SunRay's indoor traditional line uses a Harvia heater and stones. The differences are seats, bench layout and footprint. The table puts the Southport beside its nearest siblings.

Sizes are W x D x H, in inches
SunRayBaldwin SunRaySouthportYou are here SunRayHampton SunRayTiburon
Capacity 2 3 3 4

Outside height 75 in 75 in 80 in 79 in
Timber Hemlock Hemlock Cedar Hemlock

The closest alternative is the Hampton, the same three seats on almost the same floor, but in cedar, 5 inches taller and with a two tier bench, so one person can sit higher in the hotter air. Two people only? The Baldwin gives back 10 inches of width. For SunRay's LX finish, with a cultured stone back wall, color-changing LED lighting and Bluetooth audio, look at the Rockledge for two or the Galaxie for four.

SunRay's other indoor cabins, and the outdoor line, are on one page: every SunRay sauna side by side.

Warranty

What the SunRay Southport sauna warranty covers

SunRay issues a single warranty certificate for this sauna. The cabin is covered for ten years, the heater and electrics for one.

From SunRay's certificate
Ten years Wooden panels, flooring, ceiling and glass, from the date of purchase. SunRay supplies the parts needed to repair, or a replacement sauna at its discretion
One year Every sauna part including the heater and the electrical components, as replacement parts; the labor to fit them is excluded
Conditions Home use only, and commercial use ends the cover. An indoor sauna stays indoors
Owner Original buyer at the original delivery address, non-transferable

Wood moves with heat, and SunRay excludes surface cracks and small blemishes from the definition of a defect. The certificate also asks you to clean the interior with a water soluble cleaner made for unfinished wood, and to get SunRay's written approval before paying anyone for a repair you want reimbursed. Read it all on our SunRay warranty policy page, or ask us to email the certificate before you buy.

Buyer questions

SunRay Southport 3 person indoor sauna questions

How big is the SunRay Southport?

69 inches wide, 47 deep and 75 tall outside; 65 by 43 inches and 69 inches tall inside. SunRay asks for 3 to 4 inches or more between the cabin roof and the room ceiling, so the room needs about 79 inches of height.

Does the SunRay Southport need a 240 volt circuit?

Yes. Its 4.5 kW Harvia heater runs on 240 volts from a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician, who sizes the circuit from the heater manual and the National Electrical Code. There is no plug-in version.

How hot does the SunRay Southport get, and how long is the warm-up?

Up to 170 F, SunRay's stated maximum, with 160 to 170 F given as the normal range. SunRay's Harvia heater sheet puts the preheat at 45 to 60 minutes to a usable temperature, with a cold room around the cabin at the long end.

Is the SunRay Southport heater 3.5 kW or 4.5 kW?

4.5 kW. A 2023 SunRay data sheet listed 3.5 kW, and a few dealers still copy it, but SunRay's 2024 sheet's specifications, its earlier product page and its current page all give 4.5 kW for the Southport 300SN.

What is the SunRay Southport warranty?

Ten years on the wooden panels, flooring, ceiling and glass, and one year on all parts including the heater and electrical components, parts only. It covers home use by the original owner at the original address; commercial use voids it.

How does the SunRay Southport ship?

Free freight to the curb in the lower 48 on a lift gate truck, with the cabin panels in numbered cartons. SunRay's product sheet puts the shipping weight at 524 pounds. An adult has to be home to sign, and damage seen at delivery should be written on the receipt before the driver leaves.

Can three adults really fit in the SunRay Southport?

Yes, seated side by side. The single bench spans the 65 inch interior, a little under 22 inches per person with three seated. Two people have room to spread out, and everyone sits at the same height.

What is the difference between the SunRay Southport and the Hampton?

Both seat three on about 70 by 47 inches of floor with a 4.5 kW heater. The Southport is hemlock, 75 inches tall, with one bench; the Hampton is cedar, 80 inches tall, with an upper rear bench and side seating. The Southport suits a lower ceiling.
