How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Bristow is a 2 person outdoor traditional sauna with a front glass window

SunRay model 200D2, the Bristow, is a compact hemlock cabin for the backyard with a front glass window that lets daylight reach the bench. Inside sits a 4.5 kW Harvia electric heater loaded with stones, so the heat can be dry or wet, and a 44 inch bench seats two adults.

Pick it if you want to see out while you sit, or simply want the cabin to feel less closed in. The Bristow shares its square frame, heater and black pitched metal roof with the Eagle, which has a wooden door with a multi-pane glass window.

The view

Glass at the front

SunRay lists a front glass window that lets natural light into the cabin.

The bench

Two side by side

44 inches of bench, a 45 inch square room and 73 inches to the ceiling.

The steam

Harvia with stones

Ladle water onto the stones for steam, or keep it dry. Manual setting 125 to 170 F.

Size and seating

SunRay Bristow size: how much yard a 2 person outdoor sauna needs

Plan two footprints. The cabin is what stands on your base; the roof is what reaches out over it.

Outside the Bristow
Roof overhang 61 W x 61 D in
Cabin walls 50 W x 50 D x 77 H in
Peak of the roof 100 in from the base
Inside the Bristow
Room inside 45 W x 45 D x 73 H in
Bench length 44 in
Capacity Two adults

The bench and backrest, with the wooden bucket and ladle on the seat.

Marking out the spot

The cabin is 50 inches square and the roof spreads to 61 by 61, peaking at 100 inches in SunRay's current metal-roof manual. Mark out 61 inches square for the roof line and check that nothing hangs lower than 100 inches above the spot.

The seat

One bench, 44 inches long, across the back wall. Two adults sit upright, shoulder to shoulder, facing the glass. A household that wants three seats should look at the Waverly, which keeps the glass front and widens the room.

The heater

Inside the SunRay Bristow: a 4.5 kW Harvia heater with stones for wet or dry sauna

The heater is a 4.5 kW Harvia electric unit, set in a wooden guard frame with its stones on top.

Dry heat is the default. For steam, take the ladle from the included wooden bucket and pour water on the stones. SunRay's Traditional Outdoor Series manual recommends a temperature of 125 to 170 F, the top of that range being SunRay's stated maximum, and it allows about 45 to 60 minutes for the cabin to come up from cold. A winter evening outdoors sits nearer the hour.

When the room reaches the setting the heater cycles to hold it, which is also why running costs fall once you are inside. Sessions, in SunRay's words, should not exceed 30 minutes.

Controls and extras

A wall keypad runs the Bristow: on and off, the timer, the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, the interior light, color-changing LED lighting in seven colors, and a music button for the Bluetooth speaker system. Cup holders, a sand timer and a thermo-hygrometer complete the cabin.

The heater's own manual comes in the shipment.

Construction

Outer surface Sealed, per SunRay; reseal yearly

The roof

A black pitched metal roof, built in sections on its own supports over a flat ceiling.

Looking after the outside

SunRay lists a sealed exterior and asks owners to reseal it once a year. Under SunRay's warranty that yearly reseal is a requirement for an outdoor sauna that has no weather cover. Keep the hose off it: the manual says not to spray the outside with water.

Before you order

Getting the yard ready for a SunRay Bristow outdoor sauna

Settle these before the delivery is booked.

  • Pad, deck or paversSunRay asks for a solid, level surface and says the cabin must not go directly on the ground
  • DampnessA moisture barrier or floor separator goes under the cabin floor if the ground is wet
  • Overhead clearance100 inches to the peak and a 61 inch square roof, away from overhanging branches and gutters
  • WiringA dedicated 240 V circuit, hard-wired to the heater by a licensed electrician
  • Carrying inPanels come off the pallet at the curb, so plan a clear route and two people
  • Which way it facesThe glass is at the front, so decide what you want to look at from the bench
  • Permits and the HOACheck with your building department, and an HOA if you have one, on whether a backyard sauna needs a permit and on the setback from your lot line

What to tell your electrician

The Bristow needs 240 V, on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician, for a heater rated 4.5 kW. The sauna manual refers voltage and amperage to the heater manual, and your electrician sizes the circuit from that manual and the National Electrical Code.

Running cost

SunRay Bristow running cost, worked out in dollars

At the heater's full 4.5 kW and 18.34 cents a kilowatt hour (EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026).

Per session

$1.24

60 minutes of warm-up and 30 inside: 1.5 hours, 6.75 kWh.

Per week

$3.71

Three of those sessions.

Per year

$193

Three sessions every week, 156 in all.

Read each figure as an upper limit. After warm-up the heater cycles off and on to hold the setting, so it is not drawing its full rating the whole time. Swap in your own rate with the same sum: 4.5 kW times the hours times your rate.

Assembly

SunRay Bristow 2 person outdoor sauna assembly

Panel construction and a crew of two at minimum.

The floor panel goes down first on the prepared base. The back wall stands on it, the side walls lock to it with inner buckles, and the glass front closes the box the same way. Next come the door handle, then the heater in its wood frame, connected to the cabin's power box, and the bench, backrest, hygrometer and sand timer. The ceiling sits on top with its wiring joined in matching pairs, a wooden support goes in at the center of the roof, and the metal sections are screwed on. Ridge caps close the seams, sealed with the sealant SunRay includes.

Two adults is the manual's minimum; a third helps with the roof. When the cabin is standing, the electrician connects the heater.

Delivery day

How the SunRay Bristow outdoor sauna is delivered

Free freight to the curb in the lower 48, on a lift gate truck, with the buy box estimate counted in business days. SunRay's freight figure is 754 pounds.

Before delivery

Expect a call from the freight company to book the slot. An adult has to be home to inspect and sign.

At the truck

Check the pallet, every carton and especially the glass before you sign. Take photographs and write any damage on the receipt.

Before you build

Unpack and look over the panels and the front glass straight away. Our SunRay shipping policy covers inspection and damage reports.

If anything is broken, write it on the delivery receipt and call us at (888) 500-5675 while the driver is still there. The SunRay warranty excludes freight damage caused by the carrier, so the receipt is your record. A heavily damaged shipment can be refused.

Returns. The return window runs 20 days from the date it ships, and the cabin must be unassembled and in its original crate. On a change-of-mind return the freight back is yours and a 20% restocking fee may apply. We never deduct the original shipping. Read the SunRay return policy.

The Bristow suits two people who want light in the cabin. The Eagle is the same sauna with a glass-paned wooden door and no front window. If a third person will join you, the Waverly carries the glass idea further with two front windows on a 57 inch room, and the Cayman and Denali move to four seats and a 6 kW heater.

For the four seat Cayman and Denali, see every SunRay sauna side by side. More heater-and-stones cabins, indoor and out, are in our traditional saunas collection.

Warranty

SunRay Bristow outdoor sauna warranty, in plain words

SunRay's warranty certificate governs. It gives the cabin a long term and the electrics a short one.

From the SunRay warranty certificate
Structure 10 years on the wooden panels, flooring, ceiling and glass, for the parts needed to repair a defect
Heater and electrical 1 year, parts only; fitting labor is excluded
Use Residential only; commercial use voids it
Outdoor condition Without a weather cover, the exterior must be resealed annually
Who Original buyer, original delivery address, not transferable

Surface cracks and small blemishes in natural wood do not count as defects. Freight damage by the carrier is excluded, which is why the delivery check matters. Bring any claim to us and we handle it with SunRay. Read the summary on our SunRay warranty policy page, or ask and we will send the full certificate before you order.

Buyer questions

SunRay Bristow 2 person outdoor sauna FAQ

What are the SunRay Bristow dimensions?

A 50 inch square cabin under a roof that spans 61 by 61 inches and peaks at 100 inches. The room inside is 45 by 45 inches with a 73 inch ceiling, and the bench is 44 inches long.

Does the SunRay Bristow have a window?

Yes. SunRay lists a front glass window that brings natural light into the cabin. That is the difference from the SunRay Eagle, which has the same size, heater and bench, a glass-paned wooden door and no front window.

How hot does the SunRay Bristow get, and how fast?

SunRay's manual recommends 125 to 170 F, and 170 F is SunRay's stated maximum. Warm-up from cold takes about 45 to 60 minutes according to SunRay's Traditional Outdoor Series manual, longer on a cold day.

Does the SunRay Bristow plug into an outlet?

No. Its 4.5 kW Harvia heater needs 240 V on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician, who sizes the circuit from the heater manual and the National Electrical Code.

Where can I put the SunRay Bristow?

Outdoors on a level concrete pad, wood deck or pavers. SunRay says not to set it directly on the ground, and asks for a moisture barrier where the surface is damp. Allow 61 inches square and 100 inches of height for the roof.

How does the SunRay Bristow arrive?

By freight, free to the curb in the lower 48, on a lift gate truck. The estimate is in business days. Someone must be present to inspect and sign, and two adults carry the panels from the curb.

What is covered by the SunRay Bristow warranty?

Ten years on the wooden panels, flooring, ceiling and glass, and one year on the heater and electrical components, parts only. It is for residential use, and the outside must be resealed every year if the sauna has no weather cover.

Can someone assemble the SunRay Bristow for me?

Yes. Our setup and assembly service uses third party crews and is quoted for your address, since outdoor sites vary. Building it yourself takes at least two adults, following SunRay's step by step manual.
