How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Denali is a 4 person cedar outdoor traditional sauna with an L-shaped bench

Model 400D5, the Denali, is the four seat cabin in SunRay's D5 contemporary series. An L-shaped bench wraps the back and one side of a western red cedar room 68 inches wide, a 6 kW Harvia electric heater with stones supplies the heat and the steam, and a sloped metal roof overhangs a black-framed glass door.

It suits a family or a group of friends who want everyone in at once, in a modern shape under a low sloped roof. The three seat Seneca is the same design, smaller.

Watch

The SunRay Denali 4 person outdoor sauna on film

SunRay's own film of the Denali, about a minute, shot in portrait on its factory floor.

It opens on the cedar cabin from the front and the corner: the flat dark roof with small lights along its edge, the glass door in a black frame, the wall light beside it and the window in the side wall. Inside you see the heater in its wooden guard, the slatted wall light, the L shaped bench with backrest boards and the bucket and ladle, a sand timer by the side window and the round thermometer.

Size and seating

SunRay Denali dimensions: planning space for a 4 person outdoor sauna

Plan the site to the roof: 89 by 83 inches, with the 72 by 62 inch cabin inside it.

Outside the Denali
Roof footprint 89 W x 83 D in
Cabin 72 W x 62 D x 87 H in

Rear bench 68 in long, 19 in deep
Seats 4 adults

The L-shaped bench: the rear seat with its backrest and the side bench.

Planning for the roof

Plan for 89 by 83 inches, the roof in SunRay's D5 manual. Leaving that much clear covers the smaller 83 by 75 figure on SunRay's current page too.

Seating four

The main bench, 68 inches long and 19 deep, runs along the back wall, and the D5 manual adds a side bench for this model to make the L. SunRay describes the L-shaped seating as giving four adults room, with space to stretch out.

The heater

How the SunRay Denali heats: a 6 kW Harvia heater with stones

The heater is a 6 kW Harvia electric unit with stones, set in a wooden cradle inside the cabin.

Pour water on the stones for steam, or keep the session dry; SunRay includes a wooden bucket and ladle. The D5 manual recommends a setting of 125 to 170 F, and SunRay gives 170 F as the maximum. It also asks you to let the sauna warm for approximately 45 to 60 minutes before getting in, with the upper end more likely on a cold evening.

At the chosen temperature the heater turns off and on by itself to hold the room. Per the manual, keep each session to 30 minutes or under, and use the ceiling vent or the door to take the edge off the heat.

Controls

The Harvia manual that ships with the heater covers its controls.

The species

SunRay specifies western red cedar for the Denali. The Seneca, its smaller sibling in the same D5 design, is cedar too.

Weather and upkeep

SunRay lists a sealed exterior. The D5 manual recommends a new coat of sealant on the outside every year, and the SunRay warranty requires a yearly reseal for outdoor saunas without a weather cover. Where the ground is damp, a floor separator keeps the cabin floor dry.

Other backyard cabins are in our outdoor saunas collection.

Before you order

Before you order the SunRay Denali: space, base and wiring

A four seat cabin needs a bigger pad and a proper circuit. Work through these first.

  • BaseConcrete pad, wood deck or another solid surface, level, per the D5 manual. Not directly on the ground
  • MoistureAdd a moisture barrier or floor separator if the floor area stays damp
  • Roof allowance89 by 83 inches clear, with 89 inches of height
  • CircuitA dedicated 240 V supply, hard-wired by a licensed electrician
  • Sealing kitExterior sealant and a caulking gun for the assembly steps
  • PeopleBetween two and four adults for assembly, as the D5 manual says
  • Permit checkBefore you pour a pad, ask the building department, and the HOA if there is one, whether a detached sauna this size needs a permit and what lot line setback applies

Electrical

A 6 kW heater: 240 V, on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician. SunRay's D5 manual sends you to the heater manual for the voltage and amperage, and the electrician sizes the circuit from that manual and the National Electrical Code.

What your electrician needs. Hand over the 6 kW rating and the heater manual; they size the circuit.

Running cost

SunRay Denali running cost for four people

At full power: 6 kW, 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour (EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026).

A session

$1.65

60 minutes of warm-up and 30 minutes of use, 9 kWh.

Each of four

$0.41

The same session shared four ways.

A month

$21.46

Three sessions a week, 13 sessions.

Full power is the most it can draw. Once the cedar room reaches temperature the heater cycles, so the real figure is lower. Your own sum: 6 kW, times hours, times your rate per kilowatt hour.

Assembly

Assembly of the SunRay Denali 4 person sauna

Two to four adults, per SunRay.

Start with the floor on the prepared surface. Run sealant along the bottom of the back and side walls, set the back wall square on the floor, then fix the side walls with the buckles pre-installed on the outside of each panel and the front wall with its inner buckles. Fit the handle through the glass door, rest the interior ceiling on its supports and join its light wire to the wall's.

The sealed dome light screws into an upper corner. The rear bench drops onto its wall supports with the backrest, and on the Denali the side bench goes in next to complete the L. The outer metal roof is screwed around its edge, the outside light is mounted, and sealant goes along the bottom of the door opening and the outside corners. Then the accessories, and the heater into its cradle for the electrician to connect.

Delivery day

Delivering the SunRay Denali: free curbside freight on a lift gate truck

Free freight to the curb in the lower 48, with the buy box estimate in business days.

Before delivery

The carrier phones ahead for a slot. Make sure an adult can be there to sign, and that helpers are free to move the panels.

At the truck

Inspect every carton and the pallet before signing. Photograph problems and describe them on the delivery receipt.

Before you build

Unpack and inspect the cedar panels, the door glass and the roof as soon as you can. Our SunRay shipping policy covers inspection and damage reports.

Damage at delivery: write it on the receipt and phone us at (888) 500-5675 before the driver leaves. The SunRay warranty does not cover carrier freight damage, so the written note is what a claim rests on. A heavily damaged shipment can be refused.

Returns. Changed your mind? The Denali can go back within 20 days from the date it ships, unassembled in its original crate. You cover the return freight, a 20% restocking fee may apply, and the original shipping is never deducted. See the SunRay return policy.

The Denali and the Cayman share an interior size. The Denali spreads its seats along two walls on one level in cedar; the Cayman stacks two tiers in hemlock, so the upper seat sits higher in the heat, and its roof footprint is smaller. Three people only? The Seneca is the Denali's smaller sibling.

For the smaller Eagle and Bristow, see every SunRay sauna side by side. Every heater-and-stones model we stock is in traditional saunas.
