How does delivery work?
Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.
Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.
Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.
When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.
If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.
Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.
Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.
Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.
Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.
Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.
Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.
Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.
What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.
Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.
What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.
Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.
Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.
Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.
Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.
To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer
The SunRay Galley 400SH is a 4 person barrel sauna with long side benches
The Galley is the longest of SunRay's barrels, a six foot cedar barrel with 64 inches of room inside, front to back. That length goes into two long benches facing each other, enough for four adults, and SunRay's earlier Galley page noted they are long enough to lie down on. Heat comes from a 6 kW Harvia electric heater with stones.
Choose it when four people will use the sauna together, or when one person wants to stretch out. It is part of our barrel saunas range.

One SunRay film shows the design shared by the Solace, Aurora and Galley; the barrel on screen may not be the Galley's length.
SunRay says plainly in the film's notes that size varies by model, so watch it for the build, not the dimensions. Outside: the shingled roof wrapping the barrel, metal bands, black cradles, and a glass door flanked by two small windows. Inside: facing benches with slatted backrests, a heater in a wooden frame at the back, a dome light and a round thermo-hygrometer. On the Galley those benches run along a 64 inch interior.

Sizing the base
Size the base to at least 72 by 74 inches. The interior length, 64 inches, is what you sit in.
Long benches, four seats
Two adults sit on each side, facing each other across the barrel. SunRay describes the benches as long enough to lie down on. With 64 inches of interior length, a taller adult lies with knees bent.
The heat

Steam or dry
Ladle water on the hot stones and the steam travels down the barrel toward the door; skip it and the heat stays dry. The bucket, ladle, sand timer and thermo-hygrometer are in the kit.
Time to heat
SunRay's barrel manual says to allow about 30 minutes for the sauna to warm, and the heater then switches on and off to hold its setting. SunRay gives 170 F as the maximum, and the manual recommends sessions of 30 minutes or less.
The timer and the light
SunRay lists a built-in delay timer so the heater can be set to start up to eight hours ahead. The dome light inside wires to the heater, and SunRay's earlier Galley page notes that it needs no extra circuit of its own.

Construction
How the SunRay Galley cedar barrel sauna is built
The longest barrel in the line, made the same way as the others: thick cedar staves, metal bands and a shingled roof.
Cedar staves
SunRay uses solid western red cedar lumber, 1 3/8 inches thick, with what it calls ball-and-socket joints between the staves. Stainless steel hardware fixes them, and every third or fourth stave is screwed to the frame through factory drilled holes.
Holding it together
Metal bands circle the barrel and tighten with latch bolts. Solid support cradles carry it, and shingle tiles screwed to the top form the roof along the full length.
Inside and at the front
A flat floor kit, ergonomic backrests on both benches, a dome light on the back wall, and a tempered glass door with a window each side.
Keeping the cedar sound
SunRay's warranty asks that an outdoor sauna without a weather cover has its exterior resealed every year. On a barrel this long, that is a job worth booking for the same month each year.

The heater holds full power only until the barrel reaches its setting and then cycles, so actual use sits under these numbers. Four people sharing the evening pay the same as one.

Assembly
Assembling the SunRay Galley four person barrel
SunRay's one barrel manual applies, and it asks for at least two to three adults. The Galley simply has more staves.
Everything begins at the base. Place the bottom supports on the level foundation, lay a metal strip across them about 39 inches from the left end, and center the bottom wood panel with eight slats set on its left and right. The back wall sections screw together and go up first, then the front wall in the same way, and the middle strip of the roof is set between them.
From there the staves go on around the curve, every third or fourth one screwed into the frame where the holes are drilled. Closing the metal bands and tightening their latch bolts pulls the barrel together. Inside come the floor, the back wall bars, the bench supports, the two long benches and the backrests. Outside, the shingle tiles screw to the roof; the door handle, stove frame and accessories finish the barrel.
The dome light goes on the back wall, its white wire run around the edge in the clips provided and left at the heater for your electrician.
Delivery day
Taking delivery of the SunRay Galley barrel sauna
Freight is free across the lower 48. Expect a call from the freight company to agree on a window, then a lift gate truck that delivers it to your curb. The buy box gives the delivery estimate in business days.
Beforehand
Finish the base, gather your helpers and have an adult free to sign.
On arrival
Inspect every carton and the pallet. Note damage on the delivery receipt and photograph it before signing.
Once opened
Check the glass door and the long staves before the packaging goes.
Returns. A barrel can come back within 20 days from the date it ships, unassembled and in its original crate. If you change your mind, you pay the return freight and a 20% restocking fee may apply; the original shipping is never deducted. Read the SunRay return policy before you start one.

The Galley gives four people the most room inside, 13 inches more than the Aurora. If two to four is enough, the Aurora saves 13 inches of pad; for two, the Solace saves 25.

Surface cracks or minor blemishes in the wood are not defects in SunRay's terms. It decides the cause of a fault, wants written consent requested before any repair you expect to recover, and may substitute a whole sauna where parts will not fix a structural defect, with assembly of the replacement at the owner's cost. The cover excludes commercial use, carrier damage, alteration, misuse and installation that departs from the instructions, and asks for the interior to be cleaned with a water soluble cleaner suitable for unfinished wood.
