How does delivery work?
Free freight to the lower 48. Your order ships on a strapped pallet by insured LTL freight from the manufacturer's California warehouse.
When it ships. Orders are processed within 2 to 5 business days depending on the brand, and delivery to most addresses in the contiguous US takes 5 to 14 business days after shipment. Transit times are carrier estimates, not guarantees.
How you will know. You get a tracking number by email as soon as your order leaves the warehouse. Most carriers then call 24 to 48 hours ahead to lock in a four hour window, and some send an email or text the morning of delivery instead. Respond promptly either way, because missed attempts trigger terminal storage fees.
How it arrives. A 53 foot semi truck arrives at your curbside and the driver delivers the pallet to the curb. Liftgate service is not included as standard, and standard delivery does not include bringing the equipment inside, up stairs, or unpacking. Someone must be present to sign.
If it arrives damaged. Walk around the pallet and check every box before signing the Bill of Lading. Cosmetic damage can be accepted, but if a carton is punctured or crushed, refuse that item and call us on (888) 500-5675 while the driver is still there. Note the damage on the Bill of Lading, photograph it, and contact us within 48 hours. Once the damage is documented on the Bill of Lading we can file a valid freight claim and ship a replacement at no cost to you. Signing a clean Bill of Lading releases the carrier, and claims filed after one are routinely denied. If you refuse for a reason other than damage, or without contacting us first, return freight costs may become your responsibility.
Where it ships. Free freight covers standard residential curbside delivery within the contiguous 48 states. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada are not available at standard checkout, so contact us before ordering for a freight quote.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Dynamic Cold Therapy cold plunge tubs are covered by a 1-year limited warranty from Dynamic Cold Therapy, on tubs purchased from an authorized dealer in undamaged original packaging.
What's covered. Defects in materials and workmanship: the polycarbonate insert, the wooden shell and trim, and all other components each carry 1 year. Chillers carry a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Insulated covers carry 1 year and neoprene hose covers 90 days; replacement filters are consumables with no warranty.
What's not covered. Fading or discoloration from UV exposure, damage from storage in below-freezing temperatures, corrosion or discoloration caused by lack of water maintenance, and any labor cost associated with a claim. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
Keep the water balanced, and don't let it freeze. Corrosion from poor water maintenance and freeze damage are the two most common reasons a claim is declined. Ask us for the maintenance schedule — we'll send it with your order.
Keep your proof of purchase. Note that Golden Designs' 60-day registration portal covers infrared saunas only and does not apply to cold therapy products.
How to make a claim. Contact us — as your authorized dealer we handle the claim with the manufacturer for you. Email sales@recoveryroomdirect.com or call (888) 500-5675 with your order number and photos of the issue.

What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
30 days from delivery. The item must come back new, unused and in its original packaging with all components, hardware and accessories. Anything assembled, used or modified cannot be returned, and electronic components such as power supplies and control panels are non returnable under manufacturer policy regardless of condition.
What a return costs. The manufacturer may charge a 20 percent restocking fee, and you are responsible for the return freight. The original shipping cost is not deducted from your refund. Any storage or carrier routing fees incurred during the return are the buyer's responsibility.
Damaged on arrival. A different process, and you are fully protected. If you accepted the delivery and documented the damage on the Bill of Lading, we handle the freight claim and ship a replacement at no cost, with no restocking fee and no return shipping.
Cancelling before it ships. No fee as long as we have not yet submitted your order to the manufacturer. After we submit it but before it ships, an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged.
To start a return. Email your order number to sales@recoveryroomdirect.com and we issue a Return Merchandise Authorization number within one business day. Write it clearly on every box, because the warehouse will not accept returns without it. Refunds are issued within 5 business days of inspection.

The Dynamic Cold Therapy black cold plunge barrel, lined in 304 stainless steel
A round black cold plunge tub with a synthetic wood exterior and a 304 stainless steel interior, bench included. Use it on its own as an ice bath, or order it with a 0.8 or 1.0 HP Dynamic Cold Therapy chiller that cools, heats, filters and runs ozone. Stainless is the other interior offered in this barrel, and it asks more of your water care. Three things decide whether it suits you.
The footprint

The product guide says the round barrel may suit bulky body types better than the oval, which is narrower at 30 inches and has a 27 inch bench. If you want the same round shell in a softer finish, the black barrel with a PVC interior is identical in size.
Filling it
The tub manual’s rule is enough water to cover your upper body while your head stays well clear, which it puts at about 70 percent full. Fill short of that the first time, because you raise the level when you sit down and an overfull barrel spills onto the floor and anything plugged in nearby. With a chiller, the chiller manual wants the water line between the chiller’s inlet and outlet, since water above both can trap air inside it.
Dynamic Cold Therapy publishes no person count for the barrel. It has one bench.
Before you order
Six checks before the stainless black barrel arrives
Settle these while it is still a page on a screen. Every one is harder once the crate is at your curb.
- A floor rated for the full weight.The manual gives 220 pounds empty for the barrel with a metal insert. The setup guide allows 300 to 450 pounds for tub and chiller plus 800 to 1,000 pounds of water, but 145 gallons of water alone is about 1,200 pounds, so plan on the higher figure plus a person. Decks and upper floors need a builder or structural engineer to confirm it.
- A waterproof, level surface.Flat, stable and waterproof, never carpet, per the manual. Indoors, near a floor drain in a ventilated room. Outdoors, smooth ground with nothing sharp under the base.
- How far you are from the sea.The product guide says salt in the air can corrode stainless and does not recommend stainless near the coast. It recommends PVC for buyers within 50 miles of it.
- A dedicated circuit, if you add a chiller.120 volts and 15 amps on a GFCI outlet rated for outdoor and wet locations, at least 6 feet from the tub, installed by a licensed electrician as the chiller manual asks.
- Room for the chiller to breathe.36 inches clear in front of the fan, 3 feet to any wall, never inside a closet or cabinet, and sitting level with the tub.
- Your water care plan.Stainless rewards balanced water and punishes the wrong chemicals. Read the construction section on chlorine and bromine before you buy.

Construction
Three things about the stainless black barrel you cannot change later
The inside is 304 stainless steel. The product guide describes stainless as the finish some buyers prefer for its look, and is frank that keeping the polished look can be a challenge. It also warns that chlorine and bromine can cause rust and corrosion in stainless, and the manufacturer’s FAQ calls bromine especially corrosive to its tubs and chillers. That shapes your water care from day one.
The outside is synthetic wood. Dynamic Cold Therapy describes a premium synthetic wood made to look like timber while resisting moisture, UV exposure and wear, without the upkeep of natural wood. The Pacific Cedar stainless barrel is the same idea in natural staves, which the manufacturer suggests staining or clear coating outdoors.
The chiller stands apart from the tub. It rolls on wheels and connects with two hoses, so it can be serviced, replaced or added later from our cold plunge chillers without touching the barrel. It does need floor space and open air.

Corrosion from poor water care is excluded from the warranty. The tub warranty excludes corrosion or discoloration caused by lack of water maintenance, along with UV fading and damage to the finish. On a stainless tub that is the clause most likely to matter, so test the water often and keep the chemistry balanced.
The decision that blocks the purchase
The stainless black barrel’s chiller options and the circuit they need
The two chiller options are Dynamic Cold Therapy’s SY-PRO cold and heat units with Wi-Fi, the chiller the manufacturer lists with this tub. Both run on 120 volts from the same circuit. The 1.0 HP cools faster for a little more current.

What the electrician needs to know. The chiller manual’s cover states a 120 VAC 15 amp dedicated circuit with a GFCI outlet is required, the outlet should suit outdoor and wet locations, and the manual cites NEC Article 680 for pools and spas. The rating itself is your electrician’s call under local code.
Where it sits. 36 inches clear in front of the fan, 3 feet from walls, no closets, and level with the tub so the pump is not lifting water uphill. The hoses are 8 feet long, and the chiller and hoses drip condensation while cooling, so expect a small daily puddle.
The run pattern this chiller is built for
The product guide says this chiller does best on daily runs of 4 to 6 hours, once or twice a day, and suits cooler climates or temperature controlled rooms. It can run continuously if you step up the water care. The manual suggests 8 hours off each day, which you can schedule in the Tuya app on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The chiller manual is marked for personal and commercial use, but the product guide recommends 316 stainless, not this tub’s 304, for commercial facilities and for buyers who prefer to use chemical water treatment, so a gym or clinic should compare our commercial cold plunges first.
The rule that catches people out
The stainless black barrel through winter and summer
Freezing is where the manuals draw hard lines, and both warranties exclude freeze damage. Stainless does not change that.

So where nights freeze, plan on draining the chiller and the tub before the first hard frost and restarting in spring. The product guide lists a narrower chiller range of 41°F to 104°F than the manual’s 34°F to 113°F; we quote the manual in the box and would plan around the narrower one. The summer side
The manufacturer’s FAQ rates the chillers for outdoor use but says they are not weather-proofed. It says they tolerate only a little water dripping from your hand. Keep rain and sprinklers off it, and give it shade: a chiller baking in the sun can shut down because its sensor reads the air as much hotter than it is.
Neither warranty covers freezing. The tub warranty excludes damage from storage below freezing, and the chiller warranty excludes damage from use at or below 32°F. Decide on the winter routine before you decide on the spot.
Running cost
What the stainless black barrel costs to run with a chiller
The tub alone costs nothing to run. With a chiller, here is the arithmetic we can show, and the one figure that is not published.

The inputs: rated input watts from the chiller manual, multiplied by hours and by 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, the US residential average in the EIA’s Electric Power Monthly for June 2026. Put your own rate in to get your number.
The first cool down is the unknown. The manufacturer’s delivery guide says pre-chilling can take 1 to 4 hours. The chiller manual’s reference rate, 1 to 3°F every 40 minutes on the 0.8 HP and every 20 minutes on the 1.0 HP, puts 65°F tap water to 50°F at roughly 3 to 10 hours and 2 to 5 hours. We would plan on the slower numbers, especially in summer.
The consumables
The chiller ships with three 20 micron cartridges and the manual asks for a new one about every 20 plunges, or sooner if it is dirty or the flow drops. On stainless, water care is the bigger line: a test kit, pH and alkalinity adjusters and a sanitizer, with pH held at 7.2 to 7.8. The manufacturer recommends changing the water at least once a week with a chiller, more often with heavy use, or every 3 to 5 days without one. The tub manual also asks you to consult a pool supply store before using pool chemicals, to let them dissolve fully before anyone gets in, and never to add them to an empty tub, and it notes that damage from improper chemical use is not covered. Its water guide also names hydrogen peroxide and other chlorine free products as alternatives to chlorine.

Setup
Getting the stainless black barrel running
The tub manual has no assembly steps. The work is positioning, connecting the chiller if you have one, filling and checking the flow.
- Set the tub and chiller side by side on level ground.Stand the chiller upright for at least 20 minutes before its first start so the compressor fluid settles. The chiller manual warns that starting it too soon can cause damage the warranty does not cover.
- Tape the threads, check the gaskets.Wrap the four threads, two on the tub and two on the chiller, clockwise with Teflon tape three times, as the chiller manual asks, confirm each hose end has its gasket, and fit the shutoff valves to the tub. Hand tight only, so the threads do not strip.
- Loop the hoses, fill, and read the flow.Chiller inlet to tub outlet, chiller outlet to tub inlet. Fit the filter and mesh strainer, fill, and check the flow is above 15 liters a minute. If not, reseat the filter and straighten any kinks.
What the Dynamic Cold Therapy manual asks of you in the water
From the manual’s safety instructions: inspect the tub for breaks or leaks before you fill it. Keep electrical appliances at least 5 feet away, and never operate one while you are in the tub or your body is wet. Consult a physician before you begin, especially with a history of heart disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory problems or diabetes, or if you take medication that affects drowsiness, heart rate or blood pressure. The manual warns that alcohol, drugs or medication before or during a plunge may lead to loss of consciousness with the possibility of drowning. Go in feet first, keep breathing steadily without holding your breath or hyperventilating, and get out at once if you feel weak or lose control of your hands, arms or legs. Prolonged immersion below 70°F risks hypothermia, and core temperature can keep dropping after you get out, so do not drive or operate tools or heavy machinery straight afterwards. Supervise children closely, keep pets away, and lock the cover when the tub is not in use.

What we can and cannot tell you about the stainless black barrel yet
This is a new 2026 model. We have no owner reports on it yet, and we will not borrow reviews from the cedar version.
What is new
The black synthetic wood exterior. The 304 stainless insert, the fittings and the SY-PRO chiller follow the rest of the barrel range, and the product page gives the same outside size as the cedar stainless barrel.
What is easy to miss
Chemistry and coast. The product guide warns that chlorine, bromine and salt air can corrode stainless, and corrosion from poor water care is a warranty exclusion.

It can if the water is not looked after. The Dynamic Cold Therapy product guide says chlorine and bromine can cause rust and corrosion in stainless, and that salt in the air can corrode it, so stainless is not recommended in coastal regions. The tub warranty excludes corrosion or discoloration caused by lack of water maintenance, so balanced water matters on this model.
Can I use chlorine in the stainless black barrel?
The manufacturer’s documents differ. The tub manual recommends chlorine reagents to keep the water clean, used sparingly, while the product guide warns that chlorine and bromine can corrode stainless, and the FAQ singles out bromine as especially corrosive. Both are the SY-PRO chiller on the same 120 volt, 15 amp dedicated GFCI circuit. The manual’s reference cooling rate is 1 to 3°F every 40 minutes for the 0.8 HP and every 20 minutes for the 1.0 HP, so the 1.0 HP roughly halves the wait. It draws 12.8 amps against 11.3 and weighs 88 pounds against 68.5. Choose the 1.0 HP if a shorter wait matters to you.
What electrical circuit does the chiller need?
The chiller manual lists a dedicated 120 volt, 15 amp circuit with a GFCI outlet as required. The outlet should be rated for outdoor and wet locations and sit at least 6 feet from the tub. The manual refers to NEC Article 680 and asks for a licensed electrician, who should confirm the rating under your local code.
Can the stainless black barrel stay outside in a freezing winter?
Not in use. The chiller manual says to drain the chiller and stop using it below 33.8°F, and the tub manual says not to store or use the tub below freezing. Freeze damage is excluded from both warranties. Where winters freeze, drain both before the first hard frost and store them dry.
Will I fit in the stainless black barrel?

When will the stainless black barrel ship, and how is it delivered?
The manufacturer lists it as available from October 2026, and we confirm your ship date by email after you order. It travels as a crate on a pallet by semi truck, most carriers call 24 to 48 hours ahead to book a window, and the driver delivers it to the curb. Liftgate service is not included as standard. Check every box before you sign the Bill of Lading, and if a carton is punctured or crushed or the tub is damaged, refuse it and call us while the driver is there. Cosmetic damage can be accepted.
What does the warranty cover, and who handles a claim?
Dynamic Cold Therapy gives the tub a 1 Year Limited Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, and the chiller a 1 year warranty from the date of sale. Exclusions include corrosion or discoloration from poor water maintenance, UV fading, freeze damage and labor. We open the claim with the manufacturer for you.
