How does delivery work?
How does delivery work?
Free freight to the lower 48. Your order ships on a strapped pallet by insured LTL freight from the manufacturer's California warehouse.
When it ships. Orders are processed within 2 to 5 business days depending on the brand, and delivery to most addresses in the contiguous US takes 5 to 14 business days after shipment. Transit times are carrier estimates, not guarantees.
How you will know. You get a tracking number by email as soon as your order leaves the warehouse. Most carriers then call 24 to 48 hours ahead to lock in a four hour window, and some send an email or text the morning of delivery instead. Respond promptly either way, because missed attempts trigger terminal storage fees.
How it arrives. A 53 foot semi truck arrives at your curbside and the driver delivers the pallet to the curb. Liftgate service is not included as standard, and standard delivery does not include bringing the equipment inside, up stairs, or unpacking. Someone must be present to sign.
If it arrives damaged. Walk around the pallet and check every box before signing the Bill of Lading. Cosmetic damage can be accepted, but if a carton is punctured or crushed, refuse that item and call us on (888) 500-5675 while the driver is still there. Note the damage on the Bill of Lading, photograph it, and contact us within 48 hours. Once the damage is documented on the Bill of Lading we can file a valid freight claim and ship a replacement at no cost to you. Signing a clean Bill of Lading releases the carrier, and claims filed after one are routinely denied. If you refuse for a reason other than damage, or without contacting us first, return freight costs may become your responsibility.
Where it ships. Free freight covers standard residential curbside delivery within the contiguous 48 states. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada are not available at standard checkout, so contact us before ordering for a freight quote.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Dynamic Cold Therapy cold plunge tubs are covered by a 1-year limited warranty from Dynamic Cold Therapy, on tubs purchased from an authorized dealer in undamaged original packaging.
What's covered. Defects in materials and workmanship: the polycarbonate insert, the wooden shell and trim, and all other components each carry 1 year. Chillers carry a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Insulated covers carry 1 year and neoprene hose covers 90 days; replacement filters are consumables with no warranty.
What's not covered. Fading or discoloration from UV exposure, damage from storage in below-freezing temperatures, corrosion or discoloration caused by lack of water maintenance, and any labor cost associated with a claim. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
Keep the water balanced, and don't let it freeze. Corrosion from poor water maintenance and freeze damage are the two most common reasons a claim is declined. Ask us for the maintenance schedule — we'll send it with your order.
Keep your proof of purchase. Note that Golden Designs' 60-day registration portal covers infrared saunas only and does not apply to cold therapy products.
How to make a claim. Contact us — as your authorized dealer we handle the claim with the manufacturer for you. Email sales@recoveryroomdirect.com or call (888) 500-5675 with your order number and photos of the issue.

What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
30 days from delivery. The item must come back new, unused and in its original packaging with all components, hardware and accessories. Anything assembled, used or modified cannot be returned, and electronic components such as power supplies and control panels are non returnable under manufacturer policy regardless of condition.
What a return costs. The manufacturer may charge a 20 percent restocking fee, and you are responsible for the return freight. The original shipping cost is not deducted from your refund. Any storage or carrier routing fees incurred during the return are the buyer's responsibility.
Damaged on arrival. A different process, and you are fully protected. If you accepted the delivery and documented the damage on the Bill of Lading, we handle the freight claim and ship a replacement at no cost, with no restocking fee and no return shipping.
Cancelling before it ships. No fee as long as we have not yet submitted your order to the manufacturer. After we submit it but before it ships, an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged.
To start a return. Email your order number to sales@recoveryroomdirect.com and we issue a Return Merchandise Authorization number within one business day. Write it clearly on every box, because the warehouse will not accept returns without it. Refunds are issued within 5 business days of inspection.

An oval black cold plunge tub with a synthetic wood exterior, a PVC interior and a lower rim than the round barrel. Use it alone as an ice bath, or choose it with a 0.8 or 1.0 HP Dynamic Cold Therapy chiller that cools, heats, filters and runs ozone. The oval trades bench width for a smaller footprint and less water. Three things decide whether it suits you.

The product guide says the round barrel may suit bulky body types better than the oval, and its bench is 38 inches wide against the oval’s 27. If that matters, the round black barrel with a PVC interior has the same exterior and lining.
Getting in, and filling it
The manufacturer’s product page says the reduced height “allows safe and easy entry and exit”, and at 35 inches the rim is about 4.5 inches lower than the round barrel’s. For filling, the tub manual asks for enough water to cover your upper body with your head well above the line, about 70 percent of the tub. Start below that, since sitting down raises the level, and with a chiller keep the water line between the chiller’s inlet and outlet as its manual recommends, so no air is trapped inside it.
No person count is published for the oval. It has one bench.
Before you order
Six checks before the black oval arrives
Quick to settle at the planning stage, slow to fix once the crate is at your curb.
- A floor for the filled weight.The setup guide allows 300 to 450 pounds of tub and chiller plus 800 to 1,000 pounds of water. At the oval’s full 125 gallons the water is about 1,040 pounds, before a person gets in, so plan on the higher figure. An empty weight for the oval is not published. Decks and upper floors need a builder or structural engineer to confirm the load.
- A waterproof floor, never carpet.The manual asks for flat, stable, waterproof ground. Indoors, near a floor drain in a ventilated room, which is where the oval’s narrow shape helps. Outdoors, smooth ground clear of stones and branches.
- Water in and out.Fill with a garden hose. The 1 inch drain takes the included hose adapter, so plan where up to 125 gallons will go.
- A dedicated circuit for a chiller.120 volts, 15 amps, a GFCI outlet rated for outdoor and wet locations, 6 feet or more from the tub, fitted by a licensed electrician as the chiller manual asks.
- Space around the chiller.36 inches clear in front of the fan and 3 feet to any wall, never inside a closet or cabinet. Indoors, that clearance is often what decides the room.
- Freezing nights.If the oval will live outside where it freezes, read the winter section first. It sets the routine for the cold months.

Construction
Three things about the black oval you cannot change later
The shape. The product guide describes the oval as a more compact footprint with lower water use, and says its narrow design makes indoor installation easier. The cost of that is a narrower bench, 27 inches against the round barrel’s 38.
The finish, inside and out. The inside is PVC, the only lining offered on the oval, which the product guide says is easier to keep looking good and cannot rust or corrode. The outside is synthetic wood that Dynamic Cold Therapy describes as resisting moisture, UV exposure and wear without the upkeep of natural wood. The Pacific Cedar oval is the natural wood alternative.
A separate chiller. The chiller sits beside the tub on wheels and connects with two hoses, so it can be serviced or replaced on its own, or added later from our cold plunge chillers.

UV fading is excluded from the warranty. The tub warranty excludes fading or discoloration from UV exposure and damage to the finish, and the manual asks you to shade or cover the tub when it is not in use. Keep the cover on between sessions if it stands in sun.
The decision that blocks the purchase
The black oval’s chiller options, and the circuit behind them
Both options are Dynamic Cold Therapy’s SY-PRO cold and heat units with Wi-Fi, the chiller the manufacturer lists with this tub. One circuit serves either. The 1.0 HP cools faster for slightly more current.

For your electrician. The chiller manual’s cover calls for a 120 VAC 15 amp dedicated circuit with a GFCI outlet, the outlet should suit outdoor and wet locations, and the manual points to NEC Article 680 for pools and spas. The final rating is set by a licensed electrician under your local code. The manual is marked for personal and commercial use; for a studio or clinic, compare our commercial cold plunges.
Placement indoors and out. 36 inches clear in front of the fan, 3 feet from walls, no closets, and level with the tub so the pump is not working against gravity. The two hoses are 8 feet long. Both the chiller and hoses drip condensation while cooling, which is worth planning for on an indoor floor.
How long it is meant to run
The product guide says this chiller works best on daily runs of 4 to 6 hours, once or twice a day, and suits cooler climates or temperature controlled rooms. It can run continuously with more frequent water care. The manual suggests 8 hours of downtime a day, set in the Tuya app on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Noise is about 60 to 65 decibels, a little louder while the ozone cycles.
The rule that catches people out
The black oval outdoors: winter and sun limits
These limits apply wherever the air around the oval gets this cold. Outdoors, freezing is where the manuals set firm rules, and freeze damage is excluded from both warranties.

Outdoors where it freezes, that means draining the chiller and the tub before the first hard frost. The product guide gives the chiller a narrower 41°F to 104°F range than the manual’s 34°F to 113°F; we quote the manual that ships with it and would plan around the narrower one. Rain and heat
The manufacturer’s FAQ rates the chillers for outdoor use but says they are not weather-proofed. It says they tolerate only a little water dripping from your hand, so keep rain and sprinklers off it. Shade matters too, because a chiller in full sun can shut down when its sensor reads the air as far hotter than it is.
Neither warranty covers freezing. The tub warranty excludes damage from storage below freezing, and the chiller warranty excludes damage from use at or below 32°F. If the oval will stand outside, decide the winter routine first.
Running cost
What the black oval costs to run with a chiller

How it is worked out: rated input watts from the chiller manual, times hours, times 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, the US residential average in the EIA’s Electric Power Monthly for June 2026. Substitute your own rate.
The first cool down. The manufacturer’s delivery guide says pre-chilling can take 1 to 4 hours depending on the tub and the starting water. The chiller manual’s reference rate, 1 to 3°F every 40 minutes on the 0.8 HP and every 20 minutes on the 1.0 HP, takes 65°F tap water to 50°F in roughly 3 to 10 hours and 2 to 5 hours. The oval holds less water than the round barrel, but no separate rate is published for it, so we would plan on the slower figures.
The running costs that recur
Filters and water care. The chiller comes with three 20 micron cartridges and the manual asks for a new one about every 20 plunges, or sooner if it is dirty or the flow drops. Keep pH at 7.2 to 7.8 with a test kit, pH and alkalinity adjusters and a sanitizer. The manufacturer recommends changing the water at least once a week with a chiller, more often with heavy use, or every 3 to 5 days without one, and the oval’s smaller volume makes each refill a little quicker. The tub manual also asks you to consult a pool supply store before using pool chemicals, to let them dissolve fully before anyone gets in, and never to add them to an empty tub, and it notes that damage from improper chemical use is not covered.

Setup
Getting the black oval running
The tub manual has no assembly steps. You position it, connect the chiller if you have one, fill and check the flow.
- Position the tub and chiller level, side by side.Leave the chiller upright for at least 20 minutes before switching it on so its compressor fluid settles. The chiller manual warns that skipping this can cause damage the warranty does not cover.
- Seal the connections.Wrap the four threads, two on the tub and two on the chiller, clockwise with Teflon tape three times, as the chiller manual asks, check each hose end has its gasket, and fit the shutoff valves to the tub. Hand tight only, or the threads can strip.
- Loop, fill, then check the flow.Chiller inlet to the tub outlet, chiller outlet to the tub inlet. Fit the filter and mesh strainer, fill, and confirm the flow reads above 15 liters a minute. If not, reseat the filter and look for kinks.
What the Dynamic Cold Therapy manual asks of you in the water
The manual’s safety instructions, before the first session. Inspect the tub for breaks or leaks before you fill it. Keep electrical appliances at least 5 feet away, and never operate one while you are in the tub or your body is wet. Consult a physician before starting, particularly with a history of heart disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory problems or diabetes, or if you take medication that affects drowsiness, heart rate or blood pressure. The manual warns that alcohol, drugs or medication before or during a plunge may lead to loss of consciousness with the possibility of drowning. Enter feet first and breathe steadily, without holding your breath or hyperventilating, and get out at once if you feel weak or lose control of your hands, arms or legs. Prolonged immersion below 70°F risks hypothermia and core temperature can keep falling after you get out, so do not drive or operate tools or heavy machinery straight afterwards. Keep children supervised, keep pets away, and lock the cover when the tub is not in use.

How big is the black oval, and will it fit indoors?
It is 50 inches long, 30 inches wide and 35 inches tall, and the Dynamic Cold Therapy product guide says the narrow design makes indoor installation easier. Indoors it needs a waterproof floor near a drain in a ventilated room, and with a chiller, 3 feet of open air around the system and 36 inches in front of the fan.
Is the black oval big enough for me?
The bench is 7 inches high, 27 inches wide and up to 16 inches deep, against 38 inches wide in the round barrel. The product guide says the round barrel may suit bulky body types better than the oval. No person count is published, and the oval has a single bench.
Is the black oval exterior real wood?
No. Dynamic Cold Therapy describes it as a premium synthetic wood made to look like timber, resisting moisture, UV exposure and wear without the upkeep of natural wood. If you want natural staves, the Dynamic Cold Therapy Pacific Cedar oval is the same shape in cedar.
Do I need a chiller with the black oval?
No. It works as an ice bath on its own, though with no filtration the tub manual says to keep it covered and change the water every 3 to 5 days. A chiller cools and heats the water, filters it through a 20 micron cartridge and runs ozone, and the manufacturer then recommends changing the water at least once a week, more often with heavy use.
Should I choose the 0.8 HP or the 1.0 HP chiller for the oval?
Both are the SY-PRO chiller on the same 120 volt, 15 amp dedicated GFCI circuit. The manual’s reference cooling rate is 1 to 3°F every 40 minutes for the 0.8 HP and every 20 minutes for the 1.0 HP. The 1.0 HP draws 12.8 amps against 11.3 and weighs 88 pounds against 68.5. Choose the 1.0 HP if a shorter wait matters to you.
What electrical circuit does the chiller need?
The chiller manual lists a dedicated 120 volt, 15 amp circuit with a GFCI outlet as required. The outlet should be rated for outdoor and wet locations and sit at least 6 feet from the tub. The manual refers to NEC Article 680 and asks for a licensed electrician, who should confirm the rating under your local code.
Can the black oval stay outside through a freezing winter?
Not in use. The chiller manual says to drain the chiller and stop using it below 33.8°F, and the tub manual says not to store or use the tub below freezing. Freeze damage is excluded from both warranties. Outdoors where winters freeze, drain both before the first hard frost and store them dry.
How much water does the black oval hold, and how do I drain it?
105 to 125 gallons, filled by garden hose to about two thirds or three quarters full. Unscrew the drain cap to empty it; the included adapter connects the 1 inch drain to a standard garden hose. Keep the pH between 7.2 and 7.8, because damage from water outside that range is not covered.
