Pulsed electromagnetic field, four emitters on one line
The ELAMED ALMAG-01 PEMF device
The ALMAG-01 joins a small mains-powered control unit to a flexible line of four round coil emitters. Plug it in and the emitters fire one after another, so the pulsed field travels along the line from the first emitter to the fourth, until a built-in timer switches the field off.
ELAMED makes it in Russia, and Almagia International in Brooklyn, New York, distributes it in the US alongside the ALMAG+, the MAGOFON-01, the ALMAG-02 and the DIAMAG. The ALMAG-01 has one fixed mode and nothing to set. The version we sell is ELAMED's US model, built for 120 volt, 60 Hz household power.
Field at the emitter
20±6 mT
Amplitude of magnetic induction on the surface of each emitter, on both flat sides.
Pulse rate
7.5 Hz
Pulses per second in each emitter on the US 60 Hz model, each pulse lasting 1.5 to 2.5 ms.
Timer
18 minutes
The field switches itself off after 18 minutes, give or take one, and the yellow light goes out.
Video walkthrough
Switching on the ALMAG‑01, in ELAMED's own guide
A short cut from ELAMED's official guide: plugging the unit in, the built-in timer, checking each emitter with the field indicator, and the N side that goes against the body.
This is the part of ELAMED's guide that covers operating the device. For session times and placement, follow the operating manual and the sections on this page.

What it is
How the ALMAG-01 is built
Two parts, permanently joined: a control unit, which ELAMED calls the pulse generator, and a line of four emitters.
The control unit measures 137 x 60 x 45 mm (5.4 x 2.4 x 1.8 in). A 1.2 m (3.9 ft) power cable runs from it to the wall outlet, and a 2.1 m (6.9 ft) cable runs from it to the emitter line. ELAMED's manual states that every connection is flexible and non-detachable.
The emitters are induction coils, each 90 mm (3.5 in) across and 15 mm (0.6 in) thick, joined by flexible links. The whole device weighs 0.62 kg (1.4 lb) at most.

The traveling field
Only the first emitter is wired to the control unit cable. The four emitters fire in sequence, and the field travels from emitter 1 to emitter 4. Each emitter produces a magnetic induction of 20±6 mT on its surface, on both flat sides, in pulses 1.5 to 2.5 ms long. On the US model each emitter pulses 7.5 times per second.
The working side
One face of each emitter carries a small light, and the other is marked "N" for the north pole of the coil. The "N" side, the one without the light, is the side that goes toward the body.
One fixed mode, no settings
The ALMAG-01 has no programs to choose and no field strength to adjust. Connecting it to power switches the field on, and the timer switches it off. Two lights on the control unit show what it is doing: green means it is connected to power, and yellow, which comes on together with the green, means the field is running. A green light in the center of each emitter flashes at regular intervals while the field is on.
Day to day
Using the ALMAG-01
Before the first session
Read the operating manual first, and keep it for as long as you own the device. If the ALMAG-01 has been stored or shipped below 10 °C (50 °F) or above 35 °C (95 °F), let it stand in a room between those temperatures for at least 4 hours before you plug it in. ELAMED's manual says no special training or skills are needed to use it at home.
A session, step by step
Look over the case, the emitters and the power cable, and do not use the device if any of them is damaged. Wipe the outer surfaces as described under cleaning below. Settle into a comfortable position you can keep until the end, then lay the emitters with the "N" side toward the body. Plug the device in: the green and yellow lights come on and the emitter lights begin to flash. After 18 minutes, give or take one, the field stops by itself and the yellow light goes out. Unplug the device when you finish.
Placing the emitter line
Because the links between the emitters flex, the line can lie in a straight row, for example along the back, or wrap around an arm or leg; the manual's figures show both. ELAMED's manual also allows the emitters to sit over clothing, or over a gauze or plaster dressing up to 1 cm (0.4 in) thick.

Timer and rest
To run the field again, unplug the device and wait at least 10 minutes before plugging it back in. ELAMED rates the ALMAG-01 for 18 minutes of operation followed by a 10 minute break, a cycle it can repeat for up to 6 hours. After one cycle the emitters stay no warmer than 41 °C (about 106 °F) and the control unit no warmer than 45 °C (113 °F). The manual adds that session length may be changed on a doctor's advice.
Checking that it works
Besides the flashing emitter lights, the box includes a small PEMF indicator: while the device is plugged in, hold it against the "N" side of each emitter in turn, and its green light flashes when a field is present.
Cleaning and storage
Before use, wipe the outer surfaces of the control unit and the emitters with a cloth moistened with 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with 0.5% household detergent, or with 1% chloramine. ELAMED also allows any disinfectant approved for plastic surfaces in medical facilities. Keep liquid out of the control unit and the emitters. The manual calls for a visual check of the case and power cable before each use, and cleaning and disinfection once a month or whenever the device passes to another user.
Protect the device from damp, knocks and impact, never lift or carry it by the power cable, and keep the cable free of twists and tension. Store it in a dry room; ELAMED rates it for storage from -50 °C to +40 °C (-58 °F to 104 °F). Use only the parts and cables supplied with it.
Safety information
ALMAG-01 contraindications and precautions
ELAMED's manual advises a consultation with a physician before you start using the ALMAG-01, and so do we: consult your physician before use. The list below combines the contraindications in ELAMED's US manual with those in its current manual, which adds several heart and blood pressure conditions and a pacemaker distance.
Never place the emitters over the heart or the head. Do not use the ALMAG-01 during pregnancy or with an implanted pacemaker within 90 cm (35 in) of where the emitters lie. Read the full list below and the operating manual before the first session.
Do not use the ALMAG-01 with any of these
- Pregnancy.
- Cancer of any kind (oncological disease or a malignant tumor).
- Systemic blood disease, any condition that reduces blood clotting, or ongoing bleeding.
- Acute infectious disease, or acute inflammation with pus.

Buyer questions
ALMAG-01 questions buyers ask before ordering
What is the ALMAG-01 PEMF device?
The ALMAG-01 is a pulsed electromagnetic field device made by ELAMED in Russia and distributed in the US by Almagia International. A small control unit drives a flexible line of four round coil emitters that fire in sequence, so the field travels from the first emitter to the fourth. It has one fixed mode and runs on 120 volt US household power.
What comes in the ALMAG-01 box?
The box holds the ALMAG-01 device, with its control unit, four-emitter line and power cable all permanently attached, plus a PEMF indicator for checking the emitters and the English operating manual. The device plugs straight into a 120 volt outlet, so there is no separate power supply.
How does the ALMAG-01 traveling field work?
The four ALMAG-01 emitters fire one after another, from emitter 1, the one wired to the control unit, to emitter 4, so the pulsed field moves along the line. Each emitter reaches 20±6 mT at its surface in pulses 1.5 to 2.5 ms long, 7.5 times per second on the US model.
How long does the ALMAG-01 run before it shuts off?
The ALMAG-01 field switches itself off after 18 minutes, give or take one, and the yellow light on the control unit goes out. To run it again, unplug it and wait at least 10 minutes before plugging it back in. ELAMED's manual keeps the first session to 20 minutes or less and caps two areas at 30 minutes in total.
Does the ALMAG-01 work on US 120 V power?
Yes. The ALMAG-01 we sell is ELAMED's US model, built for 120 volt, 60 Hz power, and it draws 35 VA with no adapter. ELAMED also makes a 230 volt model for other markets, and its manual says that model must not be used on 120 volt, 60 Hz power, even through an adapter.
Does the ALMAG-01 have settings or programs?
No. The ALMAG-01 has one fixed mode with no programs, buttons or strength settings. Plugging it in switches the field on, a green light shows power and a yellow light shows the field is running, and the built-in timer switches the field off after about 18 minutes.
Who should not use the ALMAG-01?
ELAMED's manuals rule out the ALMAG-01 during pregnancy, with cancer, systemic blood disease, reduced blood clotting or ongoing bleeding, acute infection or acute inflammation with pus, thyrotoxicosis, alcohol intoxication, stage III high blood pressure, severe heart rhythm disorders or an acute heart attack, and with an implanted pacemaker within 90 cm of the emitters. Never place the emitters over the heart or the head, and do not use it on children under 2. Consult your physician before use.
How do I check that the ALMAG-01 is working?
While the ALMAG-01 is running, a green light in the center of each emitter flashes at regular intervals. For a second check, hold the included PEMF indicator against the side of each emitter marked "N" while the device is plugged in; its green light flashes when a field is present.
How do I clean and store the ALMAG-01?
Wipe the ALMAG-01 control unit and emitters with a cloth moistened with 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with 0.5% household detergent, or with 1% chloramine, and keep liquid out of both. ELAMED asks for a look at the case and power cable before each use. Store the device in a dry room, never carry it by the power cable, and keep it at least 0.5 m from credit cards while it runs.
What warranty comes with the ALMAG-01?
ELAMED's US operating manual sets a 36 month manufacturer warranty for the ALMAG-01 from the date of sale, covering free repair or replacement of a defective device or parts. It excludes outside repair attempts, damage, liquids inside the device and connection to unsuitable power. Recovery Room Direct coordinates any warranty claim with Almagia International, the US distributor, on your behalf.
