How does delivery work?

Free freight to the contiguous 48. On every Finnmark sauna and the SoulCold plunge. Accessories travel by parcel and follow the store threshold, shown at checkout before you pay.

Freight, not parcel. Saunas ship palletized, as flat panels rather than a finished room. The carrier books a window, someone signs, and delivery is curbside rather than inside.

Plan for the weight. An FD-1 crate is about 349 pounds and the barrels are over 1,000. Two people, and somewhere flat and dry to stage it.

Measure the route before the truck comes. A sauna arrives as panels, so the narrowest doorway, stair turn or lift matters more than the finished footprint. Tell us first if a truck cannot reach your door.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the paperwork before signing, photograph it, and tell us within 48 hours. If a pallet is punctured, crushed or structurally damaged, refuse it and call us while the driver is there.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48. Canada is a flat freight charge. Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case. No P.O. boxes.

Not included: the electrical work. Every Finnmark sauna wants a dedicated circuit of the rating on its page, and the cabins are a two person build. Professional setup and assembly is available.

What does the warranty cover?

Lifetime on the Spectrum Plus elements. In home use, indoors and outdoors. That is the longest heater term on any brand we carry.

Ten years on the rest. The Spectrum Carbon heaters and the LED lighting run 10 years. The cabin and the controls run 10 years indoors, 5 outdoors. Remotes and the seat cushion are 1 year.

Not covered. Anything not fitted at the factory. The optional outdoor cover is warranted by material, 5 years on the roof and 10 on the side walls.

Residential only. Finnmark's terms are written for home use, so ask us to confirm cover in writing before you order for a gym, studio or rental.

Two conditions decide most claims. Assembled and placed as the manual requires, including 3 inches of clearance all round and a dedicated circuit. And damage found on delivery reported within 48 hours, with photographs, before assembly.

The Harvia stove and the plunge are separate. The stove inside a Trinity carries Harvia's warranty. The SoulCold has its own 1 year consumer term.

Who handles it. We file the claim for you. Call with your order number, the model, and the serial number from the plate under the bench. Ask and we will send you a free copy of the full warranty before you buy.

Read the full Finnmark Warranty Policy

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. On a Finnmark sauna or the SoulCold plunge. We handle it, so you do not contact the manufacturer or the distributor yourself.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of up to 5% may apply on a change of mind, and we waive it whenever we are not charged ourselves. Consumables such as the SoulCold filter packs are not returnable once opened.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind, which on a palletized sauna is the real cost to weigh up. We pay the return freight when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. Not refunded on a change of mind return, and we never deduct the outbound freight from your refund.

Condition. New, unassembled and resalable in the original packaging with all parts. A sauna whose panels have been screwed together cannot go back.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing, photograph it, and report within 48 hours before assembly. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us.

To start a return. Call or email with your order number. We issue the Return Authorization number, required before anything ships back, and send the address with it.

The short answer

The Finnmark FD-2 is a two person full spectrum infrared sauna that still runs on a household outlet

The FD-2 is the point in the Finnmark range where a second seat arrives without the electrics changing. It is 48 inches wide in Canadian cedar and Thermal Plus aspen, with carbon panels on both side walls, a Spectrum Plus Incoloy element on the front wall and a near infrared LED overhead. It takes the same three pin outlet as the one person FD-1, on a circuit of its own. Three things decide it: the floor, the ceiling and the breaker.

The room

54 × 50 in

48 inches wide, 43.5 deep, 78.3 tall, plus the 3 inches of clearance Finnmark asks for on every side and above. Plan 54 by 50 inches of floor and 82 of ceiling.

The fit

Two people

Inside is 44.3 by 39.8 inches and 70.5 tall, on a bench 44.3 wide and 21.7 deep. Two seats, side by side.

The power

120 V, 15 A

1750 watts on a dedicated 15 amp circuit, through the ordinary NEMA 5-15 outlet. No 240 volt work, and the breaker must carry nothing else at all.

Fit

Inside the Finnmark FD-2: 44.3 by 39.8 inches, and a bench 44 inches wide

The bench is the whole argument for this model over the FD-1. It is 44.3 inches of seat width against 33.3, which is the difference between one person upright and two people side by side.

Inside the cabin
Interior width 44.3 in
Interior depth 39.8 in
Interior height 70.5 in
Bench 44.3 in wide, 21.7 in deep, reversible, with an ergonomic backrest
Door glass 23.6 in wide, 67.9 in high, 8 mm tempered
Room volume 70 cubic feet

Finnmark's plan view dimensions the clear doorway at about 21.5 inches, narrower than the 23.6 inch glass panel itself, so measure against 21.5 if the opening matters to you.

Looking down into the Finnmark FD-2 infrared sauna at the two person cedar bench, the floor panel and the side wall carbon panels
Looking down into the FD-2. The bench runs the full 44.3 inch width, with a carbon panel on each side wall and the Spectrum LED overhead.

Where the heat comes from

Finnmark's manual names each emitter and its part number in the replacement parts list, so the complement is knowable rather than inferred. There is a Spectrum Plus Incoloy element at 300 watts, a carbon panel on the left wall and another on the right, both also 300 watts, and a further infrared panel built into the bench skirt. Overhead sit the Spectrum LED ceiling lights, which give twelve colours and a near infrared setting.

Pairing carbon panels with a Spectrum Plus element is why Finnmark titles the FD-2 spec sheet a full spectrum sauna. The two Trinity models higher up the range run Spectrum Plus on every wall, with no carbon at all.

Finnmark calls this model the Hybrid 2.0, and it is not a hybrid sauna. The name is on the spec sheet, the dimension drawing and Finnmark's own photography. In this catalogue a hybrid sauna means infrared plus a traditional stove, which is what the FD-4 and FD-5 are. The FD-2 has no stove, no stones and no steam. It is an infrared cabin, and the name refers to its two emitter technologies rather than to two kinds of sauna.

Before you order

Five checks before the Finnmark FD-2 ships

None of these is difficult. All of them are easier to answer with a tape measure than after a pallet arrives.

  • Floor, with the clearanceThe cabin is 48 by 43.5 inches and Finnmark asks for 3 inches on every side, which is 54 by 49.5, so plan 54 by 50
  • Ceiling, with the clearance78.3 inches tall plus 3 inches above it is 81.3, so plan on 82 inches, which is 6 feet 10. A standard 8 foot basement is fine; a finished basement with ducting below the joists may not be
  • The route to the roomIt arrives flat on a pallet 78 by 36 by 50 inches, so measure the narrowest doorway or stair turn against that, not the finished footprint
  • A free circuitDedicated 15 amp, 120 volt, NEMA 5-15. At 1750 watts this cabin uses almost all of that breaker, so dedicated is not a formality here
  • A solid, dry, indoor floorFinnmark asks for a solid surface in a dry area. The removable feet adjust for floors that are not quite level
This is an indoor sauna, in the manufacturer's own words. The manual says the cabin "contains electronics and is intended for indoor use", and that placing it outside without a cover will void the warranty. Finnmark does sell a fitted cover and describes it as limited weather protection rather than full protection. The manual also requires the cabin to stand free: it "should not be built into any structure", so it cannot be framed into an alcove or boxed in with joinery.

If a number is borderline, compare the cabin against the rest of the Finnmark saunas before you decide.

Construction

Three things about the Finnmark FD-2 you cannot change later

Everything else on a sauna is adjustable. These are set the day it is made.

The two timbers

Inside is Western Canadian cedar, which Finnmark specifies for its resistance to mould, bacteria and fungus. Outside is Thermal Plus aspen, which Finnmark describes as treated with heat and steam. The two woods do different jobs: the cedar is the surface you sit against, the treated aspen is the shell that faces the room.

The wall itself

The panels are double walled, with what Finnmark lists as non toxic wool insulation between the skins. Insulation is not something that can be added to a cabin afterwards.

The emitters

Finnmark warrants the Spectrum Plus element for the life of the sauna and the carbon heaters for ten years. Those are the longest terms anywhere on the warranty sheet, and they are the parts that decide how a cabin ages.

Compare it against the other infrared saunas we carry, or narrow to the full spectrum saunas. If you are weighing infrared against a traditional stove, our infrared or traditional sauna guide covers the difference.

The decision that blocks the purchase

What the Finnmark FD-2 asks of your electrical panel

A two person cabin on a household outlet is the selling point of this model. The condition attached to it is a breaker with nothing else on it, and on the FD-2 that condition has more weight than usual.

Electrical, from the Finnmark dealer file and the spec sheet
Voltage and power 120 VAC, 1750 W
Circuit requirement Dedicated 15A circuit
Receptacle NEMA 5-15, the ordinary household three pin outlet
Supply Power supply unit on top of the cabin, cord approximately 9 feet
Code Install per the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. In Canada, per the applicable Canadian code

Why dedicated matters more on the FD-2 than on the FD-1

Finnmark publishes 1750 watts for this cabin in two places, the dealer file and the 2023 spec sheet, and the manual gives no competing total. At 120 volts, 1750 watts draws 14.6 amps. A 15 amp breaker is rated for 15, so the sauna alone accounts for roughly 97 percent of it. There is no room on that circuit for a dehumidifier, a freezer or a second appliance, which is what Finnmark's own troubleshooting page means when it says to check the breaker amperage and "ensure no other devices are on the same circuit".

The one person FD-1 draws 12.1 amps on the same size breaker and leaves headroom. The FD-2 does not. Adding a circuit is still a far shorter job than the 240 volt line an FD-3 or an FD-5 needs.

A licensed electrician sizes and installs the circuit, not us and not the manual. The figures above are what Finnmark publishes and what your electrician will ask for. Panel capacity, run length, continuous load rules and local permit requirements all change the job, and the manual requires the work to meet the National Electrical Code. Bring your electrician the 1750 watt figure and let them size it.

Running cost

What a Finnmark FD-2 session costs to run

Worked at Finnmark's 1750 watts and the US average residential rate of 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, from the EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026. Your own rate is on your bill.

One hour session

$0.32

1.75 kilowatts for one hour, at 18.34 cents. Less once the cabin is up to temperature and the heaters begin cycling.

A month

$4.17

Three sessions a week, an hour each, about 13 hours a month.

A year

$50

The same three a week, every week. Roughly 156 hours.

Every input is above, so redo it with your own rate: kilowatts times hours times cents. Two people in the FD-2 costs the same to run as one.

Scope

Finnmark's package contents list, and the items that are not on it.

Required before it runs

  • A dedicated 15 amp circuitAn electrician's job if you do not already have one free, and on this model the breaker has to be genuinely clear
  • A second personThe manual asks for two people to lift the top panel, and for someone to hold the back panel upright while it is positioned

Optional

In the crate, from Finnmark's package contents list
Panels Bottom, top, back, front, left, right
Door Glass door and handle with screws
Seating Bench support, bench top, ergonomic backrest
Heating Infrared heater panels, Spectrum LED near infrared ceiling lights
Control Controller 2.0, LCD touchscreen with Bluetooth audio
Electrical Power supply unit, power cable, heater cable, floor cable, interior heater connections with a wood cover
Fixings Screws, removable adjustable feet for uneven surfaces
Paperwork ETL certification, limited warranty

Freight to the lower 48 carries no delivery charge. Canada is quoted at a flat rate and Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case, so ask us before you order to either.

Setup

Assembling the Finnmark FD-2

It arrives as panels and goes together without specialist tools.

The manual's tool list for this model is a screwdriver and a level. Panels lock to each other and are fixed with two screw lengths Finnmark supplies, longer ones for the back wall and shorter ones for the front. The order is back panel, left side, bench support, right side, then the front wall and the top. The manual notes that the interior and exterior receptacles on the right panel are not used during assembly.

Two steps need a second person. The manual asks you to have someone hold the back panel upright while it is positioned so it cannot tip, and to lift the top panel with two people while feeding the wiring through the access holes. It also warns, in those words, not to lift or carry the front wall panel by the top left bar of the sauna. At 393 pounds of panels this is not a one person afternoon. Finnmark states no assembly time, so we publish none.

Finnmark films a step by step assembly walkthrough for this cabin. Ask us and we will send it over before your delivery date, so you can watch it once before the pallet arrives.

Before the first session

Wipe the inside down with a damp cloth to clear any sawdust. Then run the cabin at its maximum temperature for an hour, two to four times, to burn off factory dust before anyone uses it. The serial number plate, which you will want if you ever make a warranty claim, sits underneath the bench.

Delivery day

What to check when your Finnmark FD-2 is delivered

It moves by freight at 441 pounds and comes off the truck at the curb. Ten minutes of checking there is the difference between a replacement panel and an argument.

Before delivery

Have your second person booked for the day itself, not for the week after.

At the truck

Walk around the pallet before you sign. Photograph any crushed corner, tear or water mark, and write what you see on the delivery paperwork before you sign.

Before you build

Open the crate and check the glass door and each panel face while the packaging is still there, and tell us straight away if anything is marked. Our return policy sets out how long you have.

If a panel or the glass is visibly damaged, note it on the paperwork before the driver leaves and call us on (888) 500-5675 while they are still there. We would far rather sort it out at the curb than after the truck has gone.

The range

The Finnmark FD-2 against the rest of the Finnmark indoor rooms

Three infrared only cabins, then two that add a traditional stove. The jump that matters is the one just above this model, from the FD-2 to the FD-3, because that is where a 240 volt circuit starts.

The FD-2 is the only step in the range that adds a seat without changing the electrics. Drop to the Finnmark FD-1 if the room is tight and one seat is enough, since it is 11 inches narrower and leaves headroom on the breaker. Go to the FD-3 once a 240 volt line is worth running for a third and fourth seat. The two Trinity models are a different product, adding a Harvia stove and stones so you can raise steam, on two circuits.

The stove inside a Trinity is one we stock on its own: the Harvia Vega Compact 1900 on the FD-4 and the Harvia KIP45B on the FD-5.

The rest of the range: Finnmark FD-3, Finnmark FD-4 Trinity, Finnmark FD-5 Trinity XL, Finnmark SoulCold.

Evidence

The Finnmark FD-2 low EMF reading, and what the certificates say

Three documents on this sauna are worth reading in full. Here is what each actually says.

The low EMF survey, in full

A third party laboratory in Tempe, Arizona measured Finnmark's Spectrum+ heaters in December 2019 under project PR108242, at three positions on each heater. With everything switched off, the room itself read 0.5304 milligauss. Running, the readings ran from 0.6881 milligauss up to a maximum of 1.1708 milligauss at the third position. So the heater added between 0.2 and 0.64 milligauss over what the room was already producing. The laboratory describes every result as magnitudes lower than the ICNIRP Occupational 2010 test limit.

The 1.1708 maximum is the laboratory's own headline figure, from position three; position one at 100 Hz read 0.7328. Three caveats: the limit is the occupational one rather than the general public one, the survey tested heaters rather than an assembled cabin, and pages four and six of the log name the customer as Influence Sauna rather than Finnmark Designs.

The heat-up test, and what it was measured under

Finnmark publishes a logged heat-up run for this model specifically. In a building at 67 degrees in Ontario, California, a Hybrid 2.0 starting at 69 degrees reached 124 degrees at thirty minutes and 170 degrees at fifty four minutes. That is a real measurement with its conditions named, which is worth more than the spec sheet's general claim of 170 degrees in under an hour. A cabin in an unheated garage in January will take longer, because the starting temperature is the variable that moves most.

What the certificates actually say

The FD-2 is named on both Intertek certificates we hold, as ETL Listed to UL-875 and cETL to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 164. Those two certificates name the FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 and FD-4 and no others, which is why we do not call the FD-5, FD-6 or FD-7 listed. Separately, Finnmark identifies its Spectrum Plus elements as UL component recognised under file E65554, which covers sheathed heating elements as a component rather than a finished sauna. That record names the tradename BKR, not Finnmark and not Spectrum Plus. We do not describe any Finnmark cabin as a UL listed sauna, because that is not what that record says.

What we do not have

No owner reviews of our own yet, because this is a new listing for us, and no independent test of a finished FD-2 cabin as opposed to its heaters.

Buyer questions

Finnmark FD-2, questions buyers ask before ordering

Can the Finnmark FD-2 plug into a normal outlet?

Into a normal outlet type, yes: a NEMA 5-15 at 120 volts. The manual also asks for a dedicated 15 amp circuit, and at 14.6 amps this cabin uses almost all of one, so the breaker has to be genuinely clear. If your corner shares a circuit with a freezer or a laundry, have an electrician add one before the sauna arrives.

Is the Finnmark FD-2 Hybrid 2.0 a hybrid sauna with a traditional stove?

No. Hybrid 2.0 is Finnmark's own name for this cabin and it appears on the spec sheet and the dimension drawing, but the FD-2 is infrared only. There is no stove, no stones and no steam. The name points at its two emitter technologies, carbon panels and a Spectrum Plus Incoloy element, in one cabin. If you want infrared plus a traditional Harvia stove, that is the FD-4 and the FD-5, which Finnmark calls the Trinity models.

How many people fit in the Finnmark FD-2?

Two, sitting upright side by side. The bench is 44.3 inches wide and 21.7 deep, against 33.3 inches on the one person FD-1, and the interior is 44.3 by 39.8 inches with 70.5 inches of headroom. The bench is reversible. For three or four seats you are looking at the FD-3, which needs a 240 volt circuit.

How hot does the Finnmark FD-2 get, and how long does it take to heat up?

The controller tops out at 170 degrees, and Finnmark's logged run on this model reached it at fifty four minutes from a 69 degree start. The conditions behind that figure are in the evidence section above. A colder room takes longer, because the starting temperature is the variable that moves most.

Can I put the Finnmark FD-2 outside or on a covered porch?

It is built as an indoor sauna. The manual says the cabin contains electronics and is intended for indoor use, and that placing it outside without a cover will void the warranty. Finnmark's fitted cover is described as limited weather protection, not full protection. A basement, garage, spare bedroom or new extension suits it. For a covered porch, call us first and we will go through the specifics.

What is the difference between the carbon panels and the Spectrum Plus element?

Two different emitter technologies in the same cabin. The carbon panels on the side walls are flat and cover a wide area at a lower surface temperature. The Spectrum Plus Incoloy element is the one Finnmark warrants for the life of the sauna, against ten years on carbon. Having both is what makes this a full spectrum cabin, where the Trinity models run Spectrum Plus on every wall with no carbon at all.

What is the warranty on the Finnmark FD-2?

Lifetime on the Spectrum Plus element, ten years on the carbon heaters, the cabin, the controls and the LED lighting, one year on the remote, and nothing on parts not fitted at the factory. The full terms, including the residential use condition, are in the specification table above. Ask us and we will send you the warranty document free before you buy.

How is the Finnmark FD-2 delivered, and will it fit through my door?

By freight, with no delivery charge to the lower 48, as flat panels on a pallet 78 by 36 by 50 inches. That pallet is the measurement that matters for a stair turn, not the 48 inch finished width. The driver brings it to the curb at 441 pounds, so plan a second pair of hands and somewhere flat and dry to stage it. Canada is a flat quote; Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case.

Am I buying from an authorized Finnmark dealer?

Yes. Recovery Room Direct is a factory authorized Finnmark Designs dealer, so your FD-2 carries the full factory warranty rather than a reseller term. It also means the specification here comes from the manufacturer's own documents rather than from copied listings. Finnmark sets a minimum advertised price and enforces it, so if you find an authorized dealer advertising below it, our price match covers it.

One last thing

Before you order the Finnmark FD-2: the ceiling and the breaker

Two measurements and one circuit decide this purchase. Tell us the room, the ceiling height and what else is on the breaker, and we will tell you whether the FD-2 fits or whether the FD-1 suits the space better.
