- Western Red Cedar, 1.5 inch staves
- Spectrum Plus infrared, 1750 W on 120 V
- Traditional heater up to 6 kW, not included
Finnmark specifies up to 6 kW and includes no stove. Every option above arrives complete and ready to wire.
A heater ships empty. One box fills a 4.5 or 6 kW stove. Stones travel as a parcel rather than on the sauna pallet, so they carry their own shipping charge.
Free standing, so it sits anywhere on the bench and comes out with you.

How does delivery work?
How does delivery work?
Free freight to the contiguous 48. On every Finnmark sauna and the SoulCold plunge. Accessories travel by parcel and follow the store threshold, shown at checkout before you pay.
Freight, not parcel. Saunas ship palletized, as flat panels rather than a finished room. The carrier books a window, someone signs, and delivery is curbside rather than inside.
Plan for the weight. An FD-1 crate is about 349 pounds and the barrels are over 1,000. Two people, and somewhere flat and dry to stage it.
Measure the route before the truck comes. A sauna arrives as panels, so the narrowest doorway, stair turn or lift matters more than the finished footprint. Tell us first if a truck cannot reach your door.
If it arrives damaged. Note it on the paperwork before signing, photograph it, and tell us within 48 hours. If a pallet is punctured, crushed or structurally damaged, refuse it and call us while the driver is there.
Where we ship. The contiguous 48. Canada is a flat freight charge. Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case. No P.O. boxes.
Not included: the electrical work. Every Finnmark sauna wants a dedicated circuit of the rating on its page, and the cabins are a two person build. Professional setup and assembly is available.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Lifetime on the Spectrum Plus elements. In home use, indoors and outdoors. That is the longest heater term on any brand we carry.
Ten years on the rest. The Spectrum Carbon heaters and the LED lighting run 10 years. The cabin and the controls run 10 years indoors, 5 outdoors. Remotes and the seat cushion are 1 year.
Not covered. Anything not fitted at the factory. The optional outdoor cover is warranted by material, 5 years on the roof and 10 on the side walls.
Residential only. Finnmark's terms are written for home use, so ask us to confirm cover in writing before you order for a gym, studio or rental.
Two conditions decide most claims. Assembled and placed as the manual requires, including 3 inches of clearance all round and a dedicated circuit. And damage found on delivery reported within 48 hours, with photographs, before assembly.
The Harvia stove and the plunge are separate. The stove inside a Trinity carries Harvia's warranty. The SoulCold has its own 1 year consumer term.
Who handles it. We file the claim for you. Call with your order number, the model, and the serial number from the plate under the bench. Ask and we will send you a free copy of the full warranty before you buy.
What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
30 days from purchase. On a Finnmark sauna or the SoulCold plunge. We handle it, so you do not contact the manufacturer or the distributor yourself.
What a return costs. A restocking fee of up to 5% may apply on a change of mind, and we waive it whenever we are not charged ourselves. Consumables such as the SoulCold filter packs are not returnable once opened.
Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind, which on a palletized sauna is the real cost to weigh up. We pay the return freight when the cause is shipping damage or our error.
Original shipping. Not refunded on a change of mind return, and we never deduct the outbound freight from your refund.
Condition. New, unassembled and resalable in the original packaging with all parts. A sauna whose panels have been screwed together cannot go back.
Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing, photograph it, and report within 48 hours before assembly. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us.
To start a return. Call or email with your order number. We issue the Return Authorization number, required before anything ships back, and send the address with it.

The short answer
The Finnmark FD-6 is an outdoor cedar barrel that runs infrared and traditional heat in one room
Every other sauna Finnmark makes is an indoor cabin. The FD-6 is a 75 inch barrel in Western Red Cedar, built for a garden, with Spectrum Plus infrared panels on the walls and a wall position ready for a traditional rock heater. It seats three on two tiers. The heater is the part to plan for: Finnmark lets you choose it, and it is not in the crate.
The footprint
75 × 79 in
Seventy five inches long, 72.5 across the round face and 79 inches tall on its cradle. Plan the pad to 75 wide so no document can catch you out.
The fit
Three people
Two tiers of cedar bench, the upper 71 by 24 inches and the lower 60.5 by 16, in 135 cubic feet.
The power
Two supplies
120 volt, 15 amp, NEMA 5-15P for the 1750 watt infrared, and a separate 240 volt circuit for the traditional heater you choose.
Fit
Inside the Finnmark FD-6: two tiers of bench in 135 cubic feet
A barrel is wider at the middle than at the floor, which is why the upper bench is the wide one. Finnmark's own specification sheet shows three people.
| Capacity | 3 person, per Finnmark's specification sheet |
|---|---|
| Interior width | 72 in at the widest point |
| Interior height | 71 in |
| Floor length | 66 in |
| Upper bench | 71 in long, 24 in deep, 33.1 in off the floor |
| Lower bench | 60.5 in long, 16 in deep, 16.7 in off the floor |
| Door | 26.3 in x 62.3 in, 8 mm tempered with a gasket |
Sixty six inches of floor is the figure to picture: you step in and sit rather than walk about. The upper bench at 24 inches deep is the one you lie on; the lower at 16 is a step and a cooler seat.

Three heat sources, and one of them is not in the crate
Finnmark's own layout drawing for this barrel labels three things: Spectrum Plus far infrared panels, the Spectrum LED colour therapy lighting, and a position marked for a Harvia traditional steam heater. The first two ship with the sauna. The third does not.
Before you order
Five checks before the Finnmark FD-6 ships
An outdoor barrel changes the questions. The pad and the two supplies are the ones that take time.
- A level pad that carries 830 poundsThe barrel sits on cradle supports 71 inches across. A slab, pavers or a prepared gravel bed, level, because a barrel that is not level will not sit true on its bands
- Room around it75 inches long and 72.5 across the face, so plan to 75 by 75 of clear ground, plus space to open a door 26.3 inches wide and to reach the heater once it is in
- The route from the kerbIt arrives flat packed on a pallet 44 by 86 by 80 inches at 1,005 pounds. Gates, side returns and soft lawns are the usual problem, not the finished size
- Two electrical supplies120 volt 15 amp NEMA 5-15P for the infrared, and a separate 240 volt circuit for the traditional heater. Outdoor circuits are an electrician's job and want pricing before you order
- A traditional heater, chosen and boughtUp to 6 kilowatts, not included. Decide it at the same time as the sauna so both arrive together
If you are weighing a barrel against a cabin, compare it with the rest of the Finnmark saunas, or with the other barrel saunas we carry.
Construction
Three things about the Finnmark FD-6 you cannot change later
Everything else on a barrel is serviceable. These three are decided when it is made.
Western Red Cedar, an inch and a half thick
The staves are clear grade Western Canadian cedar at 1.5 inches, inside and out, which Finnmark lists as FSC. Cedar is the traditional choice outdoors because of how it behaves with moisture, and stave thickness is what decides how a barrel holds heat. This is the difference between the FD-6 and the aspen FD-7 below it.
The torched supports
The FD-6 sits on supports Finnmark finishes with Shou Sugi Ban, the Japanese technique of charring the surface. That is specific to this model: the aspen FD-7 uses plain heavy duty supports instead.
The bands and the glass
Stainless steel bands hold the staves together, and the door is 8 mm solid tempered glass with a gasket. A barrel is only as good as what clamps it, and neither part can be upgraded afterwards.

Compare it against the other hybrid saunas we carry. Our infrared or traditional sauna guide covers what each kind of heat actually does, which is the whole point of a barrel that offers both.
The decision that blocks the purchase
What the Finnmark FD-6 asks of your electrical supply
Two supplies, outdoors. This is the part to price with an electrician before you commit, because the run to a garden is longer than the run to a spare room.
| Infrared | 120 V, 1750 W, 15 A, NEMA 5-15P |
|---|---|
| Infrared position | Ceiling feed |
| Traditional heater | 240 V, up to 6 kW, wall mounted, and NOT included |
| Circuits needed | Two, separate |
| Maximum temperature | 190 F, which Finnmark qualifies as "when rock sauna is used" |
| Code | Install per the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. In Canada, per the applicable Canadian code |
The infrared side is modest: 1750 watts at 120 volts is 14.6 amps, so that circuit has to be clear of everything else, exactly as on the indoor FD-2. The traditional side is the open question, because its size depends on the heater you pick and the sauna is rated up to 6 kilowatts.
Why the dealer file's 4.5 kilowatts is not the spec
Finnmark's dealer row carries a figure of 4.5 kilowatts in its traditional heater column. The specification sheet that ships with the barrel does not: it says to choose from many different traditional steam heaters, and rates the room up to 6 kilowatts. The package contents list no heater, no stones and no control. We publish the sheet, because a buyer who reads 4.5 kilowatts as "included" has been misled twice over.
Running cost
What a Finnmark FD-6 session costs to run
Worked at the 1750 watts of infrared that ships with the barrel, and the US average residential rate of 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, from the EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026. Your own rate is on your bill.
One hour, infrared
$0.32
1.75 kilowatts for one hour, at 18.34 cents. Less once the barrel is up to temperature and the panels begin cycling.
A month
$4.17
Three sessions a week, an hour each, about 13 hours a month, infrared only.
A year
$50
The same three a week, every week. Roughly 156 hours of infrared.
Add the traditional heater and the arithmetic changes with the heater you choose. At the barrel's 6 kilowatt ceiling, an hour with both running is about $1.42 at the same rate. Every input is here, so redo it with your own rate and your own heater: kilowatts times hours times cents.
Scope
What arrives with the Finnmark FD-6, and what it does not include
The barrel arrives as a kit. The heater is the item most people assume is in it.
Required before it runs
- A traditional heater, up to 6 kWNot included. Finnmark's own sheet names HUUM, Harvia and Finlandia as the brands the barrel is built around, and we stock HUUM and Harvia
- Sauna stones for that heaterAlso not included, and a rock heater must never be run without them
- Two electrical supplies120 V 15 A for the infrared and a separate 240 V circuit for the heater, both installed by an electrician
- A level pad and two people830 pounds of barrel on cradle supports, assembled on site
Optional
- Professional setup and assemblyIf you would rather not build it yourself, see setup and assembly
- A bucket and ladleYou cannot raise steam without one, and Finnmark does not list one in the box
- A heater guardWorth asking about with whichever stove you choose, since this is a room three people share
- Finnmark Curve cedar backrestA free standing S shaped backrest Finnmark describes as suitable for any sauna
| Shell | Staves, front panel, back panel, front trim, metal bands and clamps, insulating layer |
|---|---|
| Roof | Shingles |
| Door | Glass door with gasket, and handle |
| Heating | Spectrum Plus infrared panels. No traditional heater, no stones, no heater control |
| Lighting | LED under bench light, Spectrum LED colour therapy, male light cable |
| Control | Wifi Controller 2.0, LCD, with Bluetooth audio and lighting controls |
| Seating | Two tier benching and a three bar backrest |
Freight to the lower 48 carries no delivery charge. Canada is quoted at a flat rate and Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case, so ask us before you order to either.
Setup
Assembling the Finnmark FD-6
A barrel goes together differently from a cabin. The staves are laid, drawn together and banded, and the order is not negotiable.
The cradle supports go down first on the level pad, then the staves build the curve, the front and back panels go in, and the stainless bands draw the whole barrel tight. The shingled roof and the trim finish it. The infrared panels and the Spectrum LED are wired as the walls go up, which is why the heater position is decided before the bands are tightened rather than after.
This is a two person job at minimum, as with every Finnmark sauna, and 830 pounds of cedar arrives as a flat stack rather than as a shape. We do not publish an assembly time, because Finnmark does not state one.
Before the first session
Fit the traditional heater and its stones before you run the barrel, and have the electrician sign off both supplies. Then run it up to temperature once to clear the factory dust before anyone uses it. Check the bands after the first few heat cycles: wood moves, and a barrel is designed to be re-tensioned.
Delivery day
What to check when your Finnmark FD-6 is delivered
At 1,005 pounds on a pallet 86 inches across, this comes off the truck at the kerb and does not go round the back for you.
Before delivery
Have the pad finished, both circuits run, help booked and a route from the kerb that a pallet 86 inches wide can actually take.
At the truck
Walk around the pallet before you sign. Photograph any crushed corner, split stave, tear or water mark, and write what you see on the delivery paperwork before you sign.
Before you build
Open the crate and check the glass door, the staves and the bands while the packaging is still there, and tell us straight away if anything is marked. Our return policy sets out how long you have.

The range
The Finnmark FD-6 against the FD-7 and the indoor rooms

The two barrels are the same sauna in different timber. Cedar is the traditional outdoor choice and the FD-6 adds the torched supports; the Finnmark FD-7 in Thermo-Aspen costs less and takes a traditional heater at either 120 or 240 volts. If the sauna is going indoors and you want the stove included rather than chosen, that is the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity or the four person Finnmark FD-5 Trinity XL.
For the heater this barrel needs, we stock the Harvia KIP45B at 4.5 kW and the Harvia KIP60B at 6 kW, which is the barrel's ceiling.
Evidence
The Finnmark FD-6 low EMF reading, and what the certificates do not cover
Two documents are worth reading in full, and on the barrels one of them matters for what it leaves out.
The low EMF survey, in full
A third party laboratory in Tempe, Arizona measured Finnmark's Spectrum+ heaters in December 2019 under project PR108242, at three positions on each heater. With everything switched off, the room itself read 0.5304 milligauss. Running, the readings ran from 0.6881 milligauss up to a maximum of 1.1708 milligauss at the third position. So the heater added between 0.2 and 0.64 milligauss over what the room was already producing. The laboratory describes every result as magnitudes lower than the ICNIRP Occupational 2010 test limit.
Three caveats: the limit is the occupational one rather than the general public one, the survey tested heaters rather than an assembled sauna, and pages four and six of the log name the customer as Influence Sauna rather than Finnmark Designs.
The barrels are not on the ETL certificates, and we will not say they are
The two Intertek certificates we hold name the FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 and FD-4. Neither barrel is among them, and neither is the FD-5. Finnmark describes the Spectrum Plus heaters themselves as UL listed, and separately identifies those elements as UL component recognised under file E65554, a record that covers sheathed heating elements as a component rather than a finished sauna and names the tradename BKR. We do not describe any Finnmark cabin as a UL listed sauna, because that is not what that record says. If a listing elsewhere calls this barrel ETL listed, ask them which certificate names it.
What the infrared actually is
Finnmark's specification sheet says the Spectrum Plus heaters produce "both mid and far infrared", and its own layout render for this barrel labels them far infrared. The dealer file disagrees with itself, describing the FD-6 as near and far in one field and short wave in another. We publish mid and far, as Finnmark's own sheet does, and we do not call either barrel a full spectrum sauna: nothing on either document claims all three bands, and the Carbon 360 panels that make the FD-1 to FD-3 full spectrum are not fitted here.
What we do not have
No owner reviews of our own yet, because this is a new listing for us, and no independent test of a finished barrel as opposed to its heaters.
Buyer questions
Finnmark FD-6, questions buyers ask before ordering
Does the Finnmark FD-6 come with a traditional heater?
No, and this is the single most important thing to know before ordering. Finnmark's specification sheet says to choose from many different traditional steam heaters and rates the barrel up to 6 kilowatts, and the package contents list no heater, no stones and no heater control. Some renders show a stove with steam, because that is the barrel with one fitted. The dealer file carries a 4.5 kilowatt figure in a column, which is not the same as supplying one. Tell us your budget and we will size it with you.
How many people fit in the Finnmark FD-6?
Three. Finnmark's specification sheet shows three person icons, the same way it shows one for the FD-1 and four for the FD-3, and that is the one capacity figure Finnmark publishes for the barrels. The upper bench is 71 by 24 inches and the lower is 60.5 by 16, in 135 cubic feet. Dealers who title this barrel four person are guessing.
What is the difference between the Finnmark FD-6 and the FD-7?
The wood, the supports and the heater supply. They are the same barrel otherwise: identical dimensions, identical benches, identical 1750 watt infrared, identical three person capacity. The FD-6 is Western Red Cedar with Shou Sugi Ban torched supports and a 240 volt traditional supply. The FD-7 is heat treated European Thermo-Aspen with plain heavy duty supports, and its sheet gives the traditional side as 120 or 240 volts. The FD-7 costs less.
What electrical supplies does the Finnmark FD-6 need?
Two. A 120 volt, 15 amp circuit on a NEMA 5-15P for the 1750 watt infrared, and a separate 240 volt circuit for whichever traditional heater you fit. Both are outdoor runs, so an electrician prices them against the distance from your panel, the burial or conduit route and your local permit rules. Get that quote before you order, because it is the only part of this purchase that is not a fixed price.
Is the Finnmark FD-6 a full spectrum sauna?
No, and Finnmark does not call it one. Its sheet says the Spectrum Plus heaters produce mid and far infrared, and the barrels carry no Carbon 360 panels, which are what make the indoor FD-1, FD-2 and FD-3 full spectrum. The dealer file contradicts itself on this, saying near and far in one field and short wave in another, so we publish what the specification sheet says.
Is the Finnmark FD-6 ETL listed?
The barrel is not named on either Intertek certificate we hold. Those cover the FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 and FD-4, and neither barrel nor the FD-5 is among them, so we do not describe this sauna as ETL Listed. Finnmark describes the Spectrum Plus heaters themselves as UL listed, which covers the heaters rather than the barrel. We would rather tell you that than repeat a claim we cannot show you the paperwork for.
What is the warranty on the Finnmark FD-6?
Lifetime on the Spectrum Plus elements, and because this is an outdoor product the cabin term that applies is the five year outdoor one rather than the ten year indoor one. The sheet's preamble limits cover to residential use and states terms can be changed on a quote or invoice. Ask us and we will send you the warranty document free before you buy.
How is the Finnmark FD-6 delivered, and what do I need ready?
By freight, with no delivery charge to the lower 48, flat packed on a pallet 44 by 86 by 80 inches at 1,005 pounds. That 86 inch width is the figure that decides whether it can reach the back garden, not the finished barrel. The driver brings it to the kerb. Have a level pad, both circuits and help ready for the day. Canada is a flat quote; Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case.
Am I buying from an authorized Finnmark dealer?
Yes. Recovery Room Direct is a factory authorized Finnmark Designs dealer, so your FD-6 carries the full factory warranty rather than a reseller term. It also means the specification here comes from the manufacturer's own documents rather than from copied listings, which is why this page tells you the traditional heater is not included and which certificate does not name this model. Finnmark sets a minimum advertised price and enforces it, so if you find an authorized dealer advertising below it, our price match covers it.
One last thing
Before you order the Finnmark FD-6: the pad, two supplies and a heater
Three things decide this purchase, and the heater is the one most listings leave out. Tell us the spot, what your panel has spare, and what you want to spend on a stove, and we will put the whole number in front of you before you commit.
