Complete your saunaChoose the stove that heats it, then the pieces that finish it. A traditional heater up to 6 kW is yours to pick, and it ships on the same order.
Traditional heater

Finnmark specifies up to 6 kW and includes no stove. Every option above arrives complete and ready to wire.

Sauna stones

A heater ships empty. One box fills a 4.5 or 6 kW stove. Stones travel as a parcel rather than on the sauna pallet, so they carry their own shipping charge.

Backrest

Free standing, so it sits anywhere on the bench and comes out with you.

How does delivery work?

Free freight to the contiguous 48. On every Finnmark sauna and the SoulCold plunge. Accessories travel by parcel and follow the store threshold, shown at checkout before you pay.

Freight, not parcel. Saunas ship palletized, as flat panels rather than a finished room. The carrier books a window, someone signs, and delivery is curbside rather than inside.

Plan for the weight. An FD-1 crate is about 349 pounds and the barrels are over 1,000. Two people, and somewhere flat and dry to stage it.

Measure the route before the truck comes. A sauna arrives as panels, so the narrowest doorway, stair turn or lift matters more than the finished footprint. Tell us first if a truck cannot reach your door.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the paperwork before signing, photograph it, and tell us within 48 hours. If a pallet is punctured, crushed or structurally damaged, refuse it and call us while the driver is there.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48. Canada is a flat freight charge. Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case. No P.O. boxes.

Not included: the electrical work. Every Finnmark sauna wants a dedicated circuit of the rating on its page, and the cabins are a two person build. Professional setup and assembly is available.

Read the full Finnmark Shipping Policy

What does the warranty cover?

Lifetime on the Spectrum Plus elements. In home use, indoors and outdoors. That is the longest heater term on any brand we carry.

Ten years on the rest. The Spectrum Carbon heaters and the LED lighting run 10 years. The cabin and the controls run 10 years indoors, 5 outdoors. Remotes and the seat cushion are 1 year.

Not covered. Anything not fitted at the factory. The optional outdoor cover is warranted by material, 5 years on the roof and 10 on the side walls.

Residential only. Finnmark's terms are written for home use, so ask us to confirm cover in writing before you order for a gym, studio or rental.

Two conditions decide most claims. Assembled and placed as the manual requires, including 3 inches of clearance all round and a dedicated circuit. And damage found on delivery reported within 48 hours, with photographs, before assembly.

The Harvia stove and the plunge are separate. The stove inside a Trinity carries Harvia's warranty. The SoulCold has its own 1 year consumer term.

Who handles it. We file the claim for you. Call with your order number, the model, and the serial number from the plate under the bench. Ask and we will send you a free copy of the full warranty before you buy.

Read the full Finnmark Warranty Policy

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. On a Finnmark sauna or the SoulCold plunge. We handle it, so you do not contact the manufacturer or the distributor yourself.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of up to 5% may apply on a change of mind, and we waive it whenever we are not charged ourselves. Consumables such as the SoulCold filter packs are not returnable once opened.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind, which on a palletized sauna is the real cost to weigh up. We pay the return freight when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. Not refunded on a change of mind return, and we never deduct the outbound freight from your refund.

Condition. New, unassembled and resalable in the original packaging with all parts. A sauna whose panels have been screwed together cannot go back.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing, photograph it, and report within 48 hours before assembly. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us.

To start a return. Call or email with your order number. We issue the Return Authorization number, required before anything ships back, and send the address with it.

The short answer

The Finnmark FD-7 is the Thermo-Aspen barrel, the same sauna as the cedar FD-6 for less

Finnmark builds its outdoor barrel in two timbers. This is the heat treated European aspen one: identical dimensions, identical benches, identical infrared, and a lower price than the Western Red Cedar FD-6. Aspen also brings one practical advantage of its own, which is that Finnmark gives its traditional heater supply as either 120 or 240 volts rather than 240 only.

The footprint

75 × 79 in

Seventy five inches long, 72.5 across the round face, 79 tall on its cradle, 71 across the base. Plan the pad to 75 by 75.

The fit

Three people

Two tiers of bench in 135 cubic feet, the upper 71 by 24 inches, the lower 60.5 by 16.

The power

Two supplies

120 volt, 15 amp, NEMA 5-15P for the 1750 watt infrared, and a second circuit at 120 or 240 volts for the heater you choose.

Fit

Inside the Finnmark FD-7: 66 inches of floor and two bench tiers

Barrel geometry puts the widest part at shoulder height when you are sitting on the upper tier. Finnmark's specification sheet shows three people in this room.

Inside the barrel
Capacity 3 person, per Finnmark's specification sheet
Interior width 72 in at the widest point
Interior height 71 in
Floor length 66 in
Upper bench 71 in long, 24 in deep, 33.1 in off the floor
Lower bench 60.5 in long, 16 in deep, 16.7 in off the floor
Door 26.3 in x 62.3 in, 8 mm tempered with a gasket

A note on the bench timber. Finnmark's specification sheet describes the backrest and the two bench tiers as Canadian cedar even on this aspen model, while the dealer file lists the interior material as Thermo-Aspen. The staves are Thermo-Aspen on both documents. We have not picked a side on the benches, and we will tell you what arrives once we have a unit in front of us.

Inside the FD-7. The upper tier runs the full 71 inch length with the Spectrum Plus panels set into the wall behind.

Three heat sources, and one of them you buy separately

Finnmark's layout drawing for this barrel marks the Spectrum Plus infrared panels, the Spectrum LED colour therapy lighting and a wall position for a traditional rock heater. Only the first two are in the crate. What the FD-7 sheet adds, and the cedar sheet does not, is the answer to which heater: it prints the HUUM, Harvia and Finlandia logos next to that callout.

The traditional rock heater is not included, and neither are the stones. Finnmark's sheet says "Steam Heater: choose from many different traditional steam heaters" and rates the barrel up to 6 kilowatts; the package contents list no heater, no stones and no heater control. Renders on this page show steam, because that is the barrel once a heater is fitted. The useful part is that Finnmark has named the brands it built the barrel around, and we stock two of the three. Ask us to size one with you before you order so both arrive together.

Before you order

Five checks before the Finnmark FD-7 ships

An outdoor barrel is mostly a groundwork and electrics purchase. None of these is difficult; all of them are slow if left to delivery week.

  • A level pad rated for 830 poundsThe barrel rests on three cradle supports spanning 71 inches. A slab, pavers or compacted gravel, level, because the bands rely on the barrel sitting true
  • Clear ground, 75 by 75 inchesPlus swing room for a door 26.3 inches wide and access to the heater wall once the stove is in
  • The route from the kerbFlat packed on a pallet 44 by 86 by 80 inches at 1,005 pounds. The 86 inch dimension is what has to pass the side gate
  • Two supplies120 volt 15 amp NEMA 5-15P for the infrared, and a second circuit for the heater. Finnmark gives the FD-7's traditional side as 120 or 240 volts, which can make the second run cheaper than on the cedar barrel
  • A heater and stones, chosenUp to 6 kilowatts, sold separately. HUUM, Harvia or Finlandia per Finnmark's own sheet

If you are weighing a barrel against a cabin, compare it with the rest of the Finnmark saunas, or with the other barrel saunas we carry.

Construction

What heat treated aspen is, and why Finnmark builds a barrel from it

The wood is the entire difference between this barrel and the cedar one. It is worth understanding rather than treating as the cheaper option.

Thermal modification is a process, not a coating

European aspen is baked at high temperature, which Finnmark describes as naturally heat treating it for improved durability and moisture resistance. Nothing is added: the heat changes the timber itself, which is why there is no finish to reapply and no chemical in a room you sit in at 190 degrees. The staves here are 1.5 inches thick, the same as the cedar barrel.

Aspen stays cooler to the touch

Aspen is the traditional Nordic bench timber for a reason: it has low thermal conductivity, so a bench surface sits at a temperature you can put a bare shoulder against. In a barrel that reaches 190 degrees with a rock heater fitted, that is a practical property rather than a preference.

The supports are plain, and that is a real difference

The cedar FD-6 sits on supports Finnmark chars using Shou Sugi Ban. The FD-7 does not: its sheet calls them three precisely engineered heavy duty supports. If the torched finish is what you wanted, the cedar barrel is the one that has it.

Compare it against the other hybrid saunas we carry. Our infrared or traditional sauna guide covers what each kind of heat actually does, which is the reason to want a barrel that offers both.

The decision that blocks the purchase

What the Finnmark FD-7 asks of your electrical supply

Two supplies, both running to a garden. The second one is where this barrel can save you money against the cedar model.

Electrical, from the FD-7 specification sheet and dealer file
Infrared 120 V, 1750 W, 15 A, NEMA 5-15P
Infrared position Ceiling feed
Traditional heater 120 V or 240 V, up to 6 kW, wall mounted, and NOT included
Circuits needed Two, separate
Maximum temperature 190 F, which Finnmark qualifies as "when rock sauna is used"
Code Install per the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. In Canada, per the applicable Canadian code

Finnmark's sheet gives this barrel's traditional supply as 120 v / 240 v, where the cedar FD-6 sheet gives 240 v only. A small heater on 120 volts can mean a lighter second run to the garden, though the heater you choose decides it: a 6 kilowatt stove will want 240 volts whichever barrel it goes in. Take the sheet to your electrician with the heater you have in mind.

Why the dealer file's 4.5 kilowatts is not the spec

The dealer row carries 4.5 kilowatts in its traditional heater column. The sheet that ships with the barrel does not agree: it tells you to choose a heater and rates the room up to 6 kilowatts, and the package contents list no heater, no stones and no control. A buyer who reads that column as a supplied heater has been misled twice, so we publish the sheet.

A licensed electrician sizes and installs both supplies, not us and not the manual. Outdoor circuits, buried runs, weatherproof enclosures and local permit rules all change the job. Tell us which heater you are considering and we will give your electrician its actual load before anyone digs.

Running cost

What a Finnmark FD-7 session costs to run

Worked at the 1750 watts of infrared that ships with the barrel, and the US average residential rate of 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, from the EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026. Your own rate is on your bill.

One hour, infrared

$0.32

1.75 kilowatts for one hour, at 18.34 cents. Less once the barrel is up to temperature and the panels start cycling.

A month

$4.17

Three sessions a week, an hour each, about 13 hours a month, infrared only.

A year

$50

The same three a week, every week. Roughly 156 hours of infrared.

The heater you add changes this, and by how much depends on its size. At the barrel's 6 kilowatt ceiling, an hour with both running comes to about $1.42 at the same rate. Every input is here, so redo it with your own rate and your own heater: kilowatts times hours times cents.

Scope

What arrives with the Finnmark FD-7, and what it does not include

A flat packed barrel kit. The heater and the stones are the two items buyers most often assume are in it.

Required before it runs

  • A traditional heater, up to 6 kWNot included. Finnmark's own sheet for this model names HUUM, Harvia and Finlandia, and we stock HUUM and Harvia
  • Sauna stones for that heaterAlso not included, and a rock heater must never be run without them
  • Two electrical supplies120 V 15 A for the infrared and a separate circuit at 120 or 240 V for the heater, both installed by an electrician
  • A level pad and two people830 pounds of barrel on three cradle supports, assembled where it will stand

Optional

  • Professional setup and assemblyIf you would rather not build it yourself, see setup and assembly
  • A bucket and ladleYou cannot raise steam without one, and Finnmark does not list one in the box
  • A heater guardWorth asking about with whichever stove you choose, since this is a room three people share
  • Finnmark Curve cedar backrestA free standing S shaped backrest Finnmark describes as suitable for any sauna
In the crate, from Finnmark's package contents list
Shell Staves, front panel, back panel, front trim, metal bands and clamps, insulating layer
Roof Shingles
Door Glass door with gasket, and handle
Heating Spectrum Plus infrared panels. No traditional heater, no stones, no heater control
Lighting LED under bench light, Spectrum LED colour therapy, male light cable
Control Wifi Controller 2.0, LCD, with Bluetooth audio and lighting controls
Seating Two tier benching and a three bar backrest

Freight to the lower 48 carries no delivery charge. Canada is quoted at a flat rate and Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case, so ask us before you order to either.

Setup

Assembling the Finnmark FD-7

Barrels are built in place. Everything arrives flat and becomes a shape on your pad, in an order that cannot be rearranged.

The three cradle supports are set and levelled first. The staves then build the curve from the base upward, the front and back panels drop in, and the stainless bands draw the barrel tight around them. The shingled roof and the front trim close it up. The Spectrum Plus panels and the Spectrum LED are wired while the walls are open, so the heater wall is settled before anything is tensioned.

Plan on two people throughout, as with every Finnmark sauna. The pallet is 830 pounds of timber in flat stacks, and staves are long and awkward rather than heavy one at a time. We do not publish an assembly time, because Finnmark does not state one.

Before the first session

Fit the heater and its stones, and have the electrician sign off both supplies, before the barrel is run. Then bring it up to temperature once to clear the factory dust. Re-check the band tension after the first few heat cycles: timber moves as it dries and settles, and barrel bands are designed to be re-tensioned rather than left alone.

Delivery day

What to check when your Finnmark FD-7 is delivered

A pallet 86 inches across and 1,005 pounds, delivered to the kerb. The access question is worth answering before the truck is booked rather than when it arrives.

Before delivery

Pad finished, both circuits run, help booked, and a route from the kerb wide enough for an 86 inch pallet.

At the truck

Walk around the pallet before you sign. Photograph any crushed corner, split stave, tear or water mark, and write what you see on the delivery paperwork before you sign.

Before you build

Open the crate and check the glass door, the staves and the bands while the packaging is still there, and tell us straight away if anything is marked. Our return policy sets out how long you have.

If a stave is split or the glass is damaged, note it on the paperwork before the driver leaves and call us on (888) 500-5675 while they are still there. We would far rather sort it out at the kerb than after the truck has gone.

Pick the FD-7 if the aspen suits the garden and you would rather put the difference toward the heater. Pick the Finnmark FD-6 if you want Western Red Cedar and the torched Shou Sugi Ban supports. If the sauna is going indoors and you want the stove supplied rather than chosen, that is the Finnmark FD-4 Trinity for two or the Finnmark FD-5 Trinity XL for four.

For the heater this barrel needs, we stock the Harvia KIP45B at 4.5 kW and the Harvia KIP60B at 6 kW, the barrel's ceiling, and Finnmark names Harvia on its own sheet.

Evidence

The Finnmark FD-7 low EMF reading, and what the certificates do not cover

Two documents are worth reading in full, and on the barrels one of them matters for what it leaves out.

The low EMF survey, in full

A third party laboratory in Tempe, Arizona measured Finnmark's Spectrum+ heaters in December 2019 under project PR108242, at three positions on each heater. With everything switched off, the room itself read 0.5304 milligauss. Running, the readings ran from 0.6881 milligauss up to a maximum of 1.1708 milligauss at the third position. So the heater added between 0.2 and 0.64 milligauss over what the room was already producing. The laboratory describes every result as magnitudes lower than the ICNIRP Occupational 2010 test limit.

Three caveats: the limit is the occupational one rather than the general public one, the survey tested heaters rather than an assembled sauna, and pages four and six of the log name the customer as Influence Sauna rather than Finnmark Designs.

The barrels are not on the ETL certificates, and we will not say they are

The two Intertek certificates we hold name the FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 and FD-4. Neither barrel is among them, and neither is the FD-5. Finnmark describes the Spectrum Plus heaters themselves as UL listed, and separately identifies those elements as UL component recognised under file E65554, a record that covers sheathed heating elements as a component rather than a finished sauna and names the tradename BKR. We do not describe any Finnmark cabin as a UL listed sauna, because that is not what that record says. If a listing elsewhere calls this barrel ETL listed, ask them which certificate names it.

What the infrared actually is

Finnmark's specification sheet says the Spectrum Plus heaters produce "both mid and far infrared". The dealer file contradicts itself, describing the infrared as short wave in its features field, which means near rather than mid or far. We publish mid and far, as the sheet does, and we do not call either barrel a full spectrum sauna: nothing on either document claims all three bands, and the Carbon 360 panels that make the FD-1 to FD-3 full spectrum are not fitted here.

What we do not have

No owner reviews of our own yet, because this is a new listing for us, and no independent test of a finished barrel as opposed to its heaters. We also have no photograph of the FD-7 in a garden: every outdoor shot Finnmark supplies for the barrels is of the cedar FD-6.

Buyer questions

Finnmark FD-7, questions buyers ask before ordering

What is the difference between the Finnmark FD-7 and the FD-6?

Three things: the timber, the supports and the heater voltage. The FD-7 is heat treated European Thermo-Aspen on three plain heavy duty supports, with a traditional supply Finnmark gives as 120 or 240 volts. The FD-6 is Western Red Cedar on Shou Sugi Ban torched supports at 240 volts only. Dimensions, benches, infrared, capacity, controls and weight are identical, and the FD-7 costs less.

Does the Finnmark FD-7 come with a traditional heater?

No. Finnmark's sheet tells you to choose from many different traditional steam heaters and rates the barrel up to 6 kilowatts, and the package contents list no heater, no stones and no heater control. What this model's sheet does add is the answer to which one: it prints the HUUM, Harvia and Finlandia logos beside that callout, and we stock HUUM and Harvia. The dealer file carries a 4.5 kilowatt figure in a column, which is not the same as supplying a heater.

Is Thermo-Aspen as good as cedar for an outdoor sauna?

It is a different answer rather than a lesser one. Thermal modification bakes the timber at high temperature, which Finnmark describes as improving durability and moisture resistance, with nothing added and no finish to maintain. Aspen also conducts heat poorly, which is why it is the traditional Nordic bench wood: the surface stays touchable in a room that reaches 190 degrees. Cedar is the classic outdoor stave and carries its own scent. Both barrels use 1.5 inch staves and the same stainless bands.

How many people fit in the Finnmark FD-7?

Three. Finnmark's specification sheet shows three person icons, the same convention it uses to show one for the FD-1 and four for the FD-3, and that is the one capacity figure Finnmark publishes for the barrels. The upper bench is 71 by 24 inches and the lower is 60.5 by 16, in 135 cubic feet. Dealers who title a Finnmark barrel four person are guessing.

What electrical supplies does the Finnmark FD-7 need?

Two. A 120 volt, 15 amp circuit on a NEMA 5-15P for the 1750 watt infrared, and a separate circuit for the traditional heater, which this model's sheet gives as 120 or 240 volts. Both are outdoor runs, so an electrician prices them against the distance from your panel, the conduit route and local permit rules. A larger stove will want 240 volts regardless, so settle the heater first and the circuit second.

Is the Finnmark FD-7 ETL listed?

The barrel is not named on either Intertek certificate we hold. Those cover the FD-1, FD-2, FD-3 and FD-4, and neither barrel nor the FD-5 is among them, so we do not describe this sauna as ETL Listed. Finnmark describes the Spectrum Plus heaters themselves as UL listed, which covers the heaters rather than the barrel. We would rather tell you that than repeat a claim we cannot show you the paperwork for.

Are the benches in the Finnmark FD-7 aspen or cedar?

Finnmark's two documents disagree and we have not picked a side. The specification sheet describes the three bar backrest and the two bench tiers as Canadian cedar even on this aspen model, while the dealer file lists the interior material as Thermo-Aspen. Both agree the staves are Thermo-Aspen, which is what defines the barrel. We will confirm the bench timber once we have a unit in front of us rather than guess for you now.

How is the Finnmark FD-7 delivered, and what do I need ready?

By freight, with no delivery charge to the lower 48, flat packed on a pallet 44 by 86 by 80 inches at 1,005 pounds. The 86 inch width is the figure that decides whether it reaches the back garden, not the finished barrel. The driver brings it to the kerb. Have a level pad, both circuits and help ready for the day. Canada is a flat quote; Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are quoted case by case.

Am I buying from an authorized Finnmark dealer?

Yes. Recovery Room Direct is a factory authorized Finnmark Designs dealer, so your FD-7 carries the full factory warranty rather than a reseller term. It also means the specification here comes from the manufacturer's own documents rather than from copied listings, which is why this page tells you the heater is not included, which certificate does not name this model, and where two Finnmark documents disagree about the bench timber. Finnmark sets a minimum advertised price and enforces it, so if you find an authorized dealer advertising below it, our price match covers it.

One last thing

Three things decide this purchase, and the heater is the one most listings leave out. Tell us the spot, what your panel has spare, and what you want to spend on a stove, and we will put the whole number in front of you before you commit.
