How does delivery work?
How does delivery work?
Free freight to the lower 48. The price you see is the price you pay anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. Canada is a set rate published by Icetubs and the same wherever you buy. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted case by case, so contact us before ordering.
Freight, not parcel. The lightest crate on the range leaves the warehouse at 375 pounds and the heaviest at 474, so the tub and its cooling engine travel palletized on an LTL carrier, by appointment, to the curb.
How it arrives. The carrier calls the number on your order to arrange an appointment window and someone has to be there to sign. Delivery is to the curb and the driver stops there: a 400 pound crate does not go up a drive or through a side gate on the driver's time. Arrange help, or add Professional Setup and Assembly at checkout and a crew will unpack it, assemble it, position it on site and take the packaging away.
Measure the route before the truck comes. The IceBath XL is eight feet long and the IceBarrel XL is 40 inches across the tub. Check the path from where a truck can stop to where the tub will sit, gate widths and any turn included, before you order rather than after.
If it arrives damaged, the clock is 24 hours. Check the crate and the engine carton with the driver still there and write any damage on the delivery receipt before you sign. Icetubs requires visible transport damage recorded on the delivery document at the moment of delivery and reported within 24 hours with photographs, and hidden damage has the same window. A clean signature lets the carrier treat the goods as delivered in good condition, so open everything on delivery day even if you are not filling the tub for weeks.
Lead times and accessories. Stock moves through a US distributor and most models ship promptly, and we confirm the position for your model when you order. Drip trays, filter sets, the phone holder and AquaFinesse water care are parcel items and go out with your tub order rather than separately.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Two years private, six months light professional. Against manufacturing defects and component failures, from the date you take delivery. Cover runs with the product's serial number, so keep your invoice. We open and manage the claim for you.
Freezing weather is a condition, not a suggestion. With the engine running the tub can sit in ambient temperatures down to 23F; with the engine off the floor is 34F. Between the two the engine has to run on automatic around the clock. Below 23F the engine must be detached and stored indoors and the tub drained. Skipping either step is a named exclusion, and a burst pipe is the failure it prevents.
Water care and filters are conditions too. AquaFinesse is the only approved treatment; salts, chlorine, bromine, shock doses and homemade mixtures are named exclusions. Filters must be replaced monthly in private use and weekly in light professional use, and the engine must never run without water or a filter fitted.
What is not covered. Filters, AquaFinesse, the ozone generator and the water pump. Labor, travel and call-out charges, even when the part itself is covered. Cosmetic damage from misuse, natural weathering of the Thermowood, improper transport or relocation, unauthorized repair, and corrosion on a tub sited within 10 miles of the coast.
How a claim is settled. Defective parts are repaired or replaced free of charge, and after the first three months a replacement may be refurbished. Repairs must be approved by Icetubs first, you may be asked to help replace simple parts, and a replaced part carries the remainder of the original term.
The reporting clocks. Damage on arrival must be noted on the delivery document before you sign and reported within 24 hours with photographs, visible or hidden. Other defects should be reported within two months of discovery, or 14 days for a business user.
What light professional use means. A business where the tub is not the primary revenue generating equipment, such as a small studio, clinic or office, with use capped at 15 people a day. A dedicated cold plunge studio falls outside this warranty entirely, so tell us before you order.
What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
30 days from purchase. New, unused and resalable, with the original crating, the engine carton and all included parts. Once the tub has been filled and the engine has run it counts as used and cannot be returned. Keep the crate until you are certain, because a 400 pound tub cannot travel safely without it.
What a return costs. Full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee that typically runs about 20 to 50 dollars. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard customer return.
Who pays the freight. You do on a change of mind, and return freight on a crated cold plunge is a real number rather than a formality, so ask us for a figure before you commit. When the cause is shipping damage or an error on our side, we cover the return and nothing is deducted.
Damaged on arrival, and the clock is 24 hours. Note the damage on the delivery receipt before you sign, photograph the crate and contents before you move anything, and call us the same day. Icetubs requires damage reported within 24 hours with photographs or video, visible or hidden. Transport damage is resolved with replacement parts rather than by returning the tub.
Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we submit the order to the distributor. After we submit it but before it ships, an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged.
Accessories and water care. Same 30 day window and the same condition requirement. An opened bottle of AquaFinesse and an opened filter set are consumables and are not returnable.
To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675 with your order number. A Return Authorization number is required before anything goes back, and product returned without one can be refused.

The short answer
A seated plunge with room to move your arms
In an upright tub, the inside width decides whether you sit still or have space around you. The Icetubs IceBarrel XL gives 35.1 inches across inside, with a fiberglass insert inside a Thermowood barrel, with a 1 HP cooling engine standing alongside. It holds 113.6 gallons, fills from a garden hose and runs from a grounded outlet.
Floor you give up
40.2 × 62.3 in
Barrel and engine together. The barrel alone is 40.2 inches across, which is the width every gate on the route has to clear.
Room inside
35.1 in across
8.3 inches more than the standard IceBarrel, with the seat 25.8 inches below the rim.
Load on the floor
170 lb per sq ft
Icetubs' figure filled with a bather, against 250 for the standard barrel. Have the structure checked.

Fit
Wider rather than deeper, with a fiberglass insert
Two facts set this tub apart from the smaller IceBarrel: the interior is a fiberglass insert instead of stainless steel, and it gains width without gaining depth.
| Interior diameter | 35.1 in (903 mm) |
|---|---|
| Seat to rim | 25.8 in (655 mm) |
| Interior material | Fiberglass insert |
| Water | 113.6 gal (430 L) |
| Bathers | One per session |
Check the depth before choosing on size alone. The seat sits 25.8 inches below the rim here, against 26.5 on the standard barrel, so the XL is the roomier tub across the shoulders and very slightly the shallower one. If the most depth in the least floor is what you want, the standard IceBarrel does that better.

What fiberglass changes
Icetubs describes the insert as lightweight and highly insulating, and it is the only one of the four Icetubs plunges we carry without a 304 stainless interior. The XL still weighs more than the standard barrel, 373 pounds empty against 326, yet it loads the floor at 170 pounds per square foot instead of 250, because a 40.2 inch base has 72 percent more area to spread the load over.
Stainless has its own case, and Icetubs’ care routine for it is a daily wipe with a damp microfiber cloth and a deeper clean every one to two months. Both carry the same 2-Year Limited Warranty in private use. If stainless matters more to you than the extra width, the IceBarrel and both IceBath sizes, including the IceBath XL, use it.
Stairs: decided with the tub
The XL comes with or without a pair of Thermowood and stainless steps with two handrails. The lower step stands in front of the cooling engine and the engine protector forms the middle step, which is why the stairs add 8.1 inches of length and 5.8 inches of height, to 70.4 by 52.2 inches overall. Without them you step in over a 46.4 inch rim. The stairs version is a separate Icetubs part number rather than an accessory, so it is chosen in the options with the tub.
Before you order
Seven checks before a 421 pound crate is on the truck
Each one costs nothing to settle today and a lot to settle with a pallet at the curb. The stairs version ships at 474 pounds.
- A route that clears 40.2 inches. That is the barrel's own diameter, and the narrowest thing that has to pass every gate, doorway and turn between the truck and the spot. Once in place, barrel and engine need 62.3 inches of length.
- A circuit rated for 14.5 amps.Peak draw at 110 volts. Icetubs specifies a grounded outlet with GFCI protection from the main panel, on a breaker that meets local regulations, so have an electrician look at the circuit first.
- Ground that stays dry.A concrete slab, timber decking or any surface that does not hold moisture. Icetubs rules out soil and artificial turf because damp climbs into the Thermowood.
- Load, for a deck or an upper floor.170 pounds per square foot filled with a bather, or 176 with the stairs. A deck builder or structural engineer should confirm the structure before delivery.
- Open air around the engine. The engine sheds the heat it takes out of the water, so Icetubs asks for at least 20 inches of clearance around it. It cannot live in an alcove.
- Distance from a chlorinated pool and the coast.Icetubs says to keep these away from chlorinated pools. Within 12 miles of the sea, rinse the stainless parts with fresh water every few days. Corrosion on a tub sited within 10 miles of the coast is excluded from the warranty.
- Your coldest nights.Below 23°F there is a shutdown routine the warranty depends on. The cold weather section below explains it.

Construction
What the IceBarrel XL is made of

Fiberglass inside, Thermowood outside. The tub itself is a fiberglass insert, which shows white in photographs, set inside the Thermowood barrel.
Heat treated wood outside. Icetubs’ manual calls Thermowood heat treated softwood designed to resist swelling, shrinking and moisture absorption, and asks for oiling once a year because UV and weather still gray it. That weathering is excluded from the warranty.
A separate engine box. The cooling engine stands beside the barrel, 23 inches tall and joined to it by two connectors, which is why the footprint runs to 62.3 inches. It measures 60 decibels at one meter.
A tub that keeps its own temperature needs no plumbing and no separate chiller. If you are comparing that approach with a tub plus a chiller, the cold plunges with chillers collection sits alongside our wider cold plunge range, and the Icetubs range shows every size.
Two parts sit outside the cover. Icetubs lists the ozone generator and the water pump as non warranted, along with filters and water care, while the tub and cooling engine carry a 2-Year Limited Warranty in private use. It is written in the warranty terms rather than on the spec sheet, which is why buyers miss it.
The decision that blocks the purchase
Power for the IceBarrel XL
One grounded 110 volt outlet runs everything, but the figure an electrician needs is the peak: 14.5 amps.
| Supply | 110 V, 60 Hz |
|---|---|
| Peak current | 14.5 A |
| Peak input | 1.7 kW |
| Draw while running | 1.35 kW typical |
| Protection | Grounded outlet with GFCI from the main panel |
| Cooling output | 2.18 kW measured, within a 2 to 3.2 kW range |
| Sound | 60 dB(A) at 1 m |
A dedicated circuit is the safe plan. Some listings call this a standard outlet load. The engine peaks at 14.5 amps while cooling the water down and runs for long stretches, which a shared household circuit may not handle alongside other loads, and Icetubs specifies a grounded outlet with GFCI protection in the main panel. We give you the figure and leave the rating to a licensed electrician.
Part way along the power cable sits a small breaker box that trips on leakage or a short. Keep it off the ground and out of the rain.
Cooling, and the heater option
The engine takes the water down to 37.4°F and holds it there, controlled from its own panel or the Icetubs app over Wi-Fi. Warm water is a separate matter: Icetubs lists a heater option that lifts the same engine to 100.4°F. It is specified with the tub at the time of order, so ask us to confirm it for your order before you buy.
On this model the engine is working on 113.6 gallons, 23 percent more than the standard barrel, which lengthens the first pull down rather than warming the tub. The pump turns the full volume over about every eight minutes through a 5 micron filter, and a built in ozone generator running at 200 to 300 milligrams an hour breaks down organic matter between water changes.
The rule that catches people out
Cold weather, and where the warranty draws the line
Icetubs gives two freezing limits, one with the engine running and one with it off. Both are conditions of cover, not suggestions.
| 34°F or warmer | Nothing special. The engine may be turned off |
|---|---|
| 23°F to 34°F | Leave the engine on automatic day and night, no timers, so the water cannot freeze |
| Colder than 23°F | Empty the tub, unhook the engine and keep it indoors |
| Hotter than 104°F | Beyond the engine's rated air range |
The middle band is the one that surprises people. Between 23 and 34 degrees the tub cannot sit switched off while you are away, and a pipe that bursts because it was is not covered. If you are comparing tubs for outdoor use, see our outdoor cold plunge collection.
Below 23 degrees the routine for this model is 113.6 gallons out, connectors off, and a 23 inch engine box carried inside. Plan the drain and the engine's winter home before you pick the spot. If your winters reach that, plan the routine before delivery.
Hot climates
104°F is a hard stop as well. Running the engine in air hotter than that is excluded in the same clause as the freeze rules. Separately, the 2.18 kW output is measured at up to 86°F air, 68°F water and 50 percent humidity, and Icetubs publishes no figure for hotter air, where any heat pump moves less heat. In a desert summer expect longer running times, give the engine its clearance on the shaded side, and tell us where you live before you order.
Winters below 23°F? Talk to us before ordering, because the spot you choose decides how easy the shutdown is. (888) 500-5675.
Running cost
Running cost for the IceBarrel XL
What we can calculate, and the one number Icetubs does not publish.
First pull down
$0.97
113.6 gallons from about 68°F to 37.4°F, around 5.3 kilowatt hours of electricity
Time
About 4 hours
From tap water in mild weather, on 2.18 kW of cooling
Upper bound
$5.94
Per day if it ran nonstop at its typical 1.35 kW. It cycles, so this is an upper bound at typical draw
How we got there: cooling 430 liters by 17°C means removing about 8.5 kilowatt hours of heat. The engine delivers 2.18 kW of cooling for 1.35 kW of power, so the electricity comes to about 5.3 kilowatt hours, at 18.34 cents a kilowatt hour, the June 2026 US residential average from the EIA's Electric Power Monthly. The smaller IceBarrel holds 21 fewer gallons and gets there in a little over three hours for 79 cents.
Holding cost is the missing figure. Icetubs says only that the engine uses little power once the water is cold, and that the insulated cover keeps it cycling infrequently in automatic mode. That places the daily cost below that upper bound, but we will not print a number nobody has measured. Owners who log a month on a meter for us will see the result published, with their permission.
Consumables
Filters are the recurring cost people overlook. Icetubs wants a new one every month at home and every week in light professional use, and a working filter is a warranty condition. Three ship with the tub, enough for the first three months in private use. AquaFinesse, the only approved treatment, is the other consumable, and with the ozone system running Icetubs puts full water changes at every one to two months.

Setup
From pallet to first plunge
The barrel arrives assembled. Setup means placing it, connecting the engine, filling, bleeding the air and fitting the filter, in that order.
- Place barrel and engine side by side, then level them. Both have adjustable feet, and the engine's inlet and outlet must meet the water loop. Do the leveling empty, because filled with a bather the XL is roughly 1,497 pounds.
- Fit the two connectors and their sealsto the lower inlet and the upper outlet of the water loop, with the other ends on the engine. The engine stays off for now: Icetubs wants it standing upright for 24 hours after unpacking before it runs.
- Bleed the loop, then fit the filter. When the water reaches the upper outlet, press the hose to the upper outlet and then the lower inlet in turn to drive the air out. Sink the filter to let its air escape, screw it onto the lower inlet, and only then start the engine. Running dry or without a filter is excluded from cover.
Icetubs' rules for the session
The manual that comes with the tub sets these out in chapter 8, and they are worth reading before the first plunge: one to three minutes, never more than five, head always above the water, in and out slowly, and never alone. Children only with an adult close by, for shorter times in warmer water. Icetubs is clear that cold immersion does not suit everyone. Do not use it without clearance from a healthcare professional if you are pregnant, if the bather is under 12 and has not been medically advised and closely supervised, or if you have a serious heart condition, high blood pressure that is not under control, a blood flow disorder, epilepsy, fainting spells, poor temperature regulation, Raynaud's syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, asthma or another lung condition, or are healing from surgery or an injury. Skip the session while you have a fever, cold, flu or infection, an open wound or skin infection, straight after a hard workout, within an hour of a big meal, or after alcohol or drugs. Shivering that will not stop, numbness, disorientation or clumsiness after a plunge can mean hypothermia; get medical help immediately.
The first cool down
Plug in, and hang the cable's breaker box clear of the ground and any puddles. Set the temperature on the panel or in the app and leave the tub for about four hours.
Professional Setup and Assembly adds a crew that unpacks, assembles and positions the tub on site and removes the packaging; connecting the engine and filling remain with you.

What we know so far
What owners have not told us yet
Icetubs is new to our catalog and we have no reviews of our own to show you. We will not borrow another store's.
Why you would pay for the XL
35.1 inches across inside instead of 26.8, on the same engine. The price of that room is 9.6 more inches of width, 9.3 more of length, and roughly 45 minutes longer to cool from tap water.
Easy to overlook
The 14.5 amp circuit, the two freezing thresholds and the 104°F limit. Each lives in the warranty terms, and each is a condition of cover.
Still being gathered
Measured standby use through a winter, and how owners in cold states find the shutdown in practice. Share yours and, with your permission, we will publish it.
Notes on the documents. Data sheets for this model disagree on the interior, with one field giving Thermowood and stainless steel and another giving Thermowood and fiberglass. It is fiberglass: the model name, the supplied photographs and US dealer spec sheets all say so. Separately, the manual's engine specification lists the European 220 to 230 volt, 50 hertz unit; the engine sold here is the 110 volt, 60 hertz version at 14.5 amps.
Buyer questions
Icetubs IceBarrel XL, questions buyers ask before ordering
Is the IceBarrel XL interior fiberglass or stainless steel?
Fiberglass. It is an insert, which is why the inside looks white in photographs instead of brushed metal, and Icetubs describes it as lightweight and highly insulating. The standard IceBarrel and both IceBath sizes use 304 stainless steel.
How much more room does the IceBarrel XL give than the standard IceBarrel?
It is 35.1 inches across inside against 26.8, so 8.3 inches wider, and it holds 113.6 gallons against 92.5. It is not deeper: the seat is 25.8 inches below the rim on the XL and 26.5 on the standard. Choose the XL for shoulder and elbow room, and the standard for the most depth in the least floor.
What electrical circuit does the IceBarrel XL need?
A grounded 110 volt outlet with GFCI protection from the main panel, on a breaker that meets local regulations. The engine peaks at 14.5 amps during pull down and runs for hours at a time, so plan for a dedicated circuit and have a licensed electrician confirm the rating.
Can the IceBarrel XL stay outdoors in a freezing climate?
Yes, within limits that are warranty conditions. At 34°F and above the engine can be switched off. From 23°F to 34°F it must run on automatic around the clock. Below 23°F the tub is drained and the engine disconnected and stored indoors. Damage from a frozen pipe is not covered.
How long does the IceBarrel XL take to cool down, and what does it cost?
About four hours from 68°F tap water to 37.4°F in mild weather, using roughly 5.3 kilowatt hours, which is about 97 cents at the June 2026 US residential electricity average. Holding the temperature afterwards costs less because the engine cycles, but Icetubs publishes no standby figure.
What do the IceBarrel XL stairs add?
They replace a step over the 46.4 inch rim with two steps and two handrails in Thermowood and stainless. The lower step stands in front of the cooling engine and the engine protector forms the middle step, so the stairs add 8.1 inches of length and 5.8 inches of height. The stairs version is its own Icetubs part number, so it is ordered with the tub rather than added afterwards.
Can the IceBarrel XL go on a deck?
Icetubs rates it at 170 pounds per square foot filled with a bather, or 176 with stairs, against 250 for the standard IceBarrel. The weight still sits concentrated under the tub, so a deck builder or structural engineer should confirm the structure first. The two IceBath sizes are lower again, at 83 and 79.
What does the IceBarrel XL warranty cover, and who handles a claim?
A 2-Year Limited Warranty in private use and a 6-Month Limited Warranty in light professional use, on the tub and the cooling engine, against manufacturing defects. The ozone generator, water pump, filters, water care and labor, travel and call-out fees are excluded. Recovery Room Direct opens the claim. Under Icetubs’ terms defective parts are repaired or replaced, repairs are approved by Icetubs first, simple parts may need your help to fit, and a replaced part carries the remainder of the original term. See the Icetubs warranty policy for the full terms.
Is the IceBarrel XL suitable for a gym, studio or clinic?
For light professional use, on six months of cover, where the tub is not the main source of revenue, such as a small studio, clinic or office. Filters are changed weekly there. A dedicated cold plunge studio is outside this warranty. Every tub, including one at home, is also capped at 15 users a day and 3 an hour. Our commercial cold plunges collection covers other options.
One last thing
