How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48. On every SunRay sauna, by freight from Richmond, Virginia. The estimate on each product page is in business days.

Freight to the curb. A kit of panels or barrel staves, in cartons on a pallet. The freight company calls to book a window, someone signs, and residential deliveries come on a lift gate truck. Plan for two or more people.

Hard to reach addresses. If a truck cannot reach you, a smaller vehicle may cost extra, and we tell you before the delivery is booked.

When it ships. In-stock saunas usually leave SunRay's warehouse within 1 to 2 business days of SunRay receiving the order, and you get a tracking email when it leaves.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there; for minor damage, call before the driver leaves. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. We do not ship SunRay to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Not included: the electrical work and the assembly. A licensed electrician hardwires the Harvia heater on a traditional sauna to 240 V. Professional setup and assembly is available on the indoor saunas, and by quote on the others.

What does the warranty cover?

Structure: 10 years. The wooden panels, floor, ceiling and glass, from the original date of purchase, for the parts needed to repair a defect. If a structural defect cannot be fixed with a part, SunRay may send a replacement sauna; assembling it is then your cost.

Parts and electronics: 1 year. Every other part, including the heater and the electrical components. Parts replacement only: labor for fitting a part is not covered.

Not covered. Alteration, neglect, misuse, freight damage caused by the carrier, accidents and acts of God. Surface cracks and minor blemishes in the wood are natural, not defects. Report delivery damage within 48 hours, before assembly.

Two conditions decide most claims. Residential use only, because a commercial setting voids the warranty. And installed, run and maintained to the instructions: indoor saunas stay indoors, and an outdoor sauna without a weather cover needs its exterior resealed every year.

Who is covered. The original customer at the original delivery address. The warranty cannot be transferred.

Ask before a repair. Get SunRay's written consent before any repair you expect to be reimbursed. SunRay decides the cause of a fault and whether to repair or replace.

Who handles it. We are a factory-authorized SunRay dealer and file the claim for you. Call us with your order number, the model and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

20 days from the ship date. New, unassembled and resalable; the ship date is in your tracking email. We handle the return, so you do not contact SunRay.

Unassembled means returnable. In its original packaging and crate with the manuals and accessories. A sauna that has been assembled, wired in or heated cannot go back.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price may apply on a change-of-mind return. There is none on a documented freight damage claim.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error.

Original shipping. We never deduct the original shipping from your refund.

Damaged on arrival. A different and faster process. Note it before signing and photograph it. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there. Report anything found after unpacking within 48 hours.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we place the order with SunRay. After that an administrative fee of up to 5% may apply, and we waive it whenever we are not charged. If we miss our own ship date, you cancel with no fee.

To start a return. Call us for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The SunRay Waverly is a 3 person outdoor traditional sauna with a glass door and two front windows

The Waverly, SunRay model 300D2, is the three seat outdoor cabin with the most glass in SunRay's pitched roof series: a glass door flanked by two front windows. Inside, a rear bench spans a hemlock room 57 inches wide, warmed by a 4.5 kW Harvia electric heater with stones for dry heat or steam.

It is for three people who want to look out at the yard, not at a wall. Take away the extra glass and you have the Freeport, which shares this cabin, heater and roof.

Light and view

Daylight across the whole front of the cabin, and a view from every seat.

Planning the roof line

The roof spreads to 73 by 63 inches and peaks at 100, per SunRay's current metal-roof manual. That manual also prints the roof as 73 by 73, so on a tight site plan 73 inches in each direction.

Three on the rear bench

SunRay describes a generous rear bench that seats three adults, or gives one person space to stretch out.

The heater

Harvia heat in the SunRay Waverly: 4.5 kW, stones, and a recommended 125 to 170 F

A 4.5 kW Harvia electric heater holds a bed of stones inside a wooden guard by the bench.

Dry heat comes first. A ladle of water poured on the stones lifts the humidity and gives a burst of steam; SunRay includes the wooden bucket and ladle for exactly that. SunRay's Traditional Outdoor Series manual recommends 125 to 170 F, with 170 F as SunRay's stated ceiling. Allow 45 to 60 minutes for the cabin to warm from cold, as the manual says, and the longer figure when it is freezing outside.

At the set temperature the heater cycles off and on. SunRay's guidance is to keep any one session within 30 minutes and to cool off with the door open.

The control panel

SunRay describes the Waverly's heater as having digital controls, and SunRay's interior photographs show a digital panel on the wall. Its buttons, per SunRay's outdoor manual, cover power, timer, temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, the inside light, a seven color LED light and music, which streams from a phone over Bluetooth to the speaker system. The timer runs from 1 to 99 minutes.

The heater manual comes in the box.

Caring for the exterior

SunRay lists the outside as sealed and asks for a reseal every year, and its warranty requires that for outdoor saunas without a weather cover. The outdoor manual also says not to spray the cabin with water. Glass is part of the 10 year structural cover.

Before you order

Before the SunRay Waverly arrives: base, circuit and sightlines

Seven checks, most of them measurable this weekend.

  • Something solid underneathConcrete pad, wood deck or pavers, level. SunRay's manual forbids setting it straight on the ground
  • A dry floorAdd a floor separator or moisture barrier on a damp surface
  • Space aboveUp to 73 inches square for the roof and 100 inches of height, clear of overhanging branches
  • A view worth facingThe glass is all on the front, so turn it toward the yard, not the fence
  • PowerA dedicated 240 V circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician
  • Hands at the curbTwo adults to carry the panels from the curb to the base
  • Permit, HOA, setbackA quick call to the building department, and the HOA where there is one, settles whether a detached sauna needs a permit and how close to the lot line it may stand

The electrical work

For a 4.5 kW heater the Waverly needs 240 V, on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician. SunRay's sauna manual sends voltage and amperage questions to the heater manual; your electrician sizes the circuit from that manual and the National Electrical Code.

Hard-wired only. The Waverly's heater is hard-wired by a licensed electrician on its dedicated 240 V circuit; it does not plug into an outlet.

Running cost

Running the SunRay Waverly: cost per session, week and year

Worked at full power, 4.5 kW, and 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour as reported in the EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026.

One session

$1.24

A 60 minute warm-up and 30 minutes inside, 1.5 hours: 6.75 kWh.

One week

$3.71

Three of those sessions.

One year

$193

Three a week for 52 weeks, 156 sessions.

These are maximums. The heater cycles to hold its setting once the cabin is hot, so it does not draw 4.5 kW for the whole session. A longer winter warm-up adds to the figure; use the same sum, kilowatts times hours times your rate, with your own numbers.

Assembly

SunRay Waverly outdoor sauna assembly

Flat panels and a minimum of two adults.

Per SunRay's 2026 D1/D2 manual, the bottom panel goes onto the level base, the back wall stands on it, and the side walls fasten to it with inner buckles. The glazed front wall follows by the same method. Next the heater goes into its wooden frame and is connected to the cabin's power box, the bench and backrest are fixed, and the hygrometer and sand timer go on the walls. The flat ceiling sits on top with its wiring joined to the matching leads, the wooden roof supports go in, and the metal roof is screwed down, its ridge caps sealed with the sealant in the shipment.

Our own advice: take extra care with the glazed front wall while it stands unbraced. When the cabin is finished, the electrician connects the heater.

Delivery day

SunRay Waverly delivery: what happens at the curb

Free freight to the curb across the lower 48, on a lift gate truck. The buy box gives the estimate in business days. SunRay's freight figure is 839 pounds.

Before delivery

The carrier calls ahead to agree a time. An adult has to be there to receive and sign for it.

At the truck

Look at every carton, and the glass in particular, before you sign. Photograph anything damaged and record it on the receipt.

Before you build

Unpack promptly and inspect the glazed front panel and the walls. Our SunRay shipping policy covers inspection and damage reports.

Glass cracked or a panel crushed? Write it on the receipt and call us at (888) 500-5675 before the driver goes. The SunRay warranty excludes damage caused by the carrier, so the receipt note carries the claim. Badly damaged freight can be refused.

Returns. Within 20 days from the date it ships, an unassembled Waverly in its original crate can be returned. You pay the return freight on a change of mind and a 20% restocking fee may apply; the original shipping is never deducted from your refund. See the SunRay return policy.

Buyer questions

Questions about the SunRay Waverly 3 person outdoor sauna

What size is the SunRay Waverly?

The cabin stands on a base 61 inches wide and 51 deep. The roof covers 73 by 63 inches and peaks at 100 inches; on a tight site, plan 73 inches each way. Inside it is 57 by 47 inches with 73 inches of headroom.

How is the SunRay Waverly different from the SunRay Freeport?

Same cabin size, heater and roof. The Waverly has a glass door and two front windows, so more light and more view. The Freeport has a wooden door with a multi-pane window and one front window.

Does the SunRay Waverly plug into an outlet?

No. The 4.5 kW Harvia heater runs at 240 V on a dedicated circuit, hard-wired by a licensed electrician who sizes the circuit from the heater manual and the National Electrical Code.

How long does the SunRay Waverly take to heat up?

SunRay's Traditional Outdoor Series manual allows about 45 to 60 minutes from cold to a setting between 125 and 170 F. The colder the day, the closer to an hour it takes.

Where should the SunRay Waverly go?

On a level concrete pad, wood deck or pavers, with a moisture barrier if the surface is damp, never directly on the ground. Face the glass toward the view you want from the bench.

How is the SunRay Waverly delivered?

By freight, free to the curb in the lower 48 on a lift gate truck. Delivery estimates are in business days. Inspect the cartons and the glass before signing, and have two adults ready to carry the 839 pound shipment in, panel by panel.

Does the SunRay Waverly warranty cover the glass?

Yes. SunRay's structural warranty covers the wooden panels, flooring, ceiling and glass for 10 years. The heater and electrical parts have 1 year, parts only. Freight damage by the carrier is excluded.

Does the SunRay Waverly have Bluetooth?

Yes, a Bluetooth speaker system plays music from your phone, controlled from the wall panel. The heater, lights and timer are all set on that panel inside the cabin.
