How does delivery work?

Free to the contiguous 48. What changes across the range is not the cost to you but how it arrives.

Electric heaters ship by parcel. Wall mounted and pillar heaters run roughly 29 to 55 pounds, so they travel as insured ground parcel. No delivery appointment and nobody needs to be home.

Wood burning stoves ship by freight. A stove moves palletized on an LTL carrier. The carrier calls to arrange an appointment window, someone must be there to sign, and it is a curbside drop rather than a carrier leaving it at the door.

Stones ship separately. A heater takes anywhere from one box to thirteen at roughly 44 pounds a box, so stone shipping is charged per box at checkout, including when the stones are ordered with a heater.

When it ships, and how you will know. Most orders ship promptly, though some part numbers are supplied from Finland and take longer, so we confirm the position for your specific model when you order. You get a tracking notification by email once it ships.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada are quoted case by case, so contact us before ordering.

If it arrives damaged. Check the carton or pallet for damage while the driver is still there and note any damage on the delivery receipt at the time of signing, then contact us the same day. A clean signature with no damage noted makes a freight claim much harder to win.

What does the warranty cover?

Residential coverage. Two years on electric heaters, controls and steam generators including the heating elements, and two years on wood burning stoves, running from your date of purchase.

A free third year. Register within 30 days and Harvia adds a third year on electric heaters in residential use. We send you the link and your serial number with your order.

Commercial coverage. Two years on electric heaters, controls and electronics, but six months on heating elements and six months on wood burning stoves.

Professional installation is a condition. Harvia requires that the unit is installed and wired by a licensed electrician, and that proof of professional installation can be presented with a claim. A heater wired by the owner is outside the warranty, so keep your installer's invoice with your receipt.

Not covered. Normal wear, improper installation, poor maintenance, failure to follow the instructions, alterations and improper use. Sauna stones are a consumable and are not covered, and stones Harvia does not specify for your model can void cover.

Transport damage has a seven day limit. Harvia requires damage found on receipt to be reported no later than seven days after delivery. Call us the same day, because a claim is far easier to win with the damage noted on the delivery receipt.

Changing how you use it ends the cover. Moving a heater from a family sauna into a gym, a rental or any other commercial setting ends the residential cover rather than converting it. Tell us before you order if the room will be used commercially.

A callout for a fault that is not covered can be charged. If the defect turns out to fall outside the warranty, Harvia is entitled to charge for the work of finding it, including labour, travel and shipping at actual cost. Call us first and we will work through the symptoms with you before anything is booked.

Who handles it. Harvia US Inc. is the warrantor for North America and we open the claim with them on your behalf. Call (888) 500-5675.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. The unit must be new, uninstalled and in resalable condition with its original packaging and all included parts. A heater that has been wired in, fired, or loaded with stones counts as installed and cannot be returned.

What a return costs. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard customer return. You get full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee that typically runs about 20 to 50 dollars depending on the item.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We do, and the distributor does, when the cause is shipping damage or an error on our side, and nothing is deducted for freight in those cases.

Damaged on arrival. A different process, and it is time sensitive. Note the damage on the delivery receipt before you sign, photograph the carton and the contents, and call us the same day. Concealed damage found after signing is much harder to claim, so open the box on delivery day even if you are not installing for weeks.

Sauna stones. Stone is sold by weight and is not returnable once a box is opened.

Controls and accessories. Same 30 day window and the same condition requirement. A control unit that has been wired in cannot be returned.

To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675. A Return Authorization number is required before anything goes back, and product returned without one can be refused.

Harvia Legend 300 23kW wood-burning sauna stove

Harvia Legend Series

Harvia Legend 300 23kW Wood-Burning Sauna Stove

The Legend is Harvia's heavy round stove: a steel drum carrying 573.3 lbs of stone, which is two to six times what a compact wood stove holds. All that mass means the room stays hot after the fire has burned down, and the loyly is soft rather than sharp.

Harvia rates it for rooms of 494 to 989 cubic feet. Before you order, read the chimney and firewood section below: this is a Finnish stove and two of its numbers do not match what is standard in North America.

Harvia Legend 300 Features

What you are buying at 23kW

573.3 lbs of stone

Stone is the whole thermal story on a wood stove. It absorbs the fire's heat and gives it back slowly, so the room holds temperature between loads and a ladle of water produces steam rather than a hiss. Harvia rates this stove at 573.3 lbs of stone at 4 to 6 inches across, which is a larger grade than most electric heaters take.

No electricity, no controller

There is no element, no thermostat, no control unit and no wiring. Nothing on this stove can fail electrically, and it works in a cabin with no power at all. What you give up is the timer: you cannot preheat it from the house, you light it and wait.

Steel body, CE and EAC marks

Welded steel, tested to the European standard EN 15821:2010 by VTT in Finland (notified body 0809). Harvia publishes CE and EAC marks for this stove and does not publish a North American listing for it. CE is a European conformity marking, not a US or Canadian listing. Depending on where you live that can affect permitting, inspection and what your home insurer will accept for a solid-fuel appliance. Check with your local building department and your insurer before ordering, and call us if you want us to check the position for this specific stove.

Sizing the Legend 300

Is 23kW the right output for your room?

Harvia rates this stove for494 to 989 cubic feet

Measure length × width × height in feet. A wood stove has a real minimum as well as a maximum, which an electric heater mostly does not: put a 23kW fire in a room smaller than 494 cubic feet and you cannot keep it comfortable, because the fire does not throttle the way an element does. Size it inside the range rather than at either edge.

Cold surfaces change the answer, and a glass door counts. Harvia's manuals treat brick, glass, tile and concrete as non-insulated surface and say to add 1.2 cubic meters of volume for every square meter of it, which works out near 3.9 cubic feet for every square foot. Harvia's own worked examples: a 10 cubic meter room with a glass door behaves like a 12 cubic meter room, and the same room with a 2 by 2 meter brick wall behaves like 15. If you are close to the limit, size up rather than down.

Log walls without insulation heat slowly. Harvia advises multiplying the room volume by 1.5 before choosing output in that case.

Chimney, clearances and firewood

The three numbers to check before you order

1. The flue is 4.5 inches, not 6. Harvia specifies a 115 mm connection opening and a minimum internal flue diameter of 110 mm, which is 4.5 and 4.3 inches. Standard North American stove pipe is 6 or 8 inches, so you will not match this at a hardware store. Plan on Harvia's own steel chimney or a fabricated adapter, and the chimney has to be temperature class T600. One more thing to settle before you buy any chimney part. NFPA 211 and the residential code ask for a factory built chimney on a wood burning appliance to be listed to UL 103 and marked Type HT. Harvia's own steel chimney carries European certification, CE and EAC, rather than that listing. Whether that satisfies your inspector is a question for your building department and your chimney professional, and it is far cheaper to ask before the order than after. Call us and we will tell you what buyers in your state have run into.

2. Check your firewood length. The firebox takes logs up to 39 cm, which is 15.4 inches, at 3 to 6 inches thick. US cordwood is sold cut to 16 inches as standard, so a cord ordered the normal way will not fit. Specify the length when you buy, or plan to cut it down.

3. Clearances.

Clearances to combustible material are model-specific, and Harvia's installation manual gives them on dimensioned drawings. Against a masonry wall the minimum is 50 mm (2 in), or 100 mm (4 in) in a recess, provided air can circulate at the front and one side. Call us before you frame the room and we will send you the clearance drawing for the Legend 300.

The stove needs a floor that can carry 207.2 lbs of stove plus 573.3 lbs of stone. On concrete at least 60 mm (2.4 in) thick Harvia's manual asks for no floor protection. On a tiled or combustible floor it calls for Harvia's protective bedding, and a combustible floor in front of the door also needs non-flammable protection. Ash, stone chips and metal flakes will mark a light floor, so Harvia recommends dark floor materials and dark grout under and around the stove.

What's in the box

Included with your Legend 300

  • Harvia Legend 300 wood-burning sauna stove
  • Ash box and grate
  • Adjustable feet, 0 to 30 mm, for an uneven floor
  • Installation and operating instructions
  • Harvia manufacturer warranty, 2 years residential and 6 months in commercial use

Stones, chimney and floor protection are all sold separately. Harvia rates the Legend 300 to hold up to 573.3 lbs of stone, which is about 13 boxes of Harvia AC3020 at 44 lbs a box. Order AC3020 and not AC3000: a wood stove takes 4 to 6 inch stone and AC3000 is the smaller 2 to 4 inch stone made for electric heaters. You will also need a T600 chimney, and floor protection unless the stove stands on concrete at least 60 mm (2.4 in) thick. Call (888) 500-5675 and we will put the whole package together. Want it in one order? The Harvia Legend 300 package pairs it with the WHP1500 chimney kit, a 1000 mm extension, the WL200 sheath, the WL100 floor plate and thirteen boxes of AC3020 stone.

Harvia Legend 300 FAQ

Questions buyers ask about the Legend 300

What size sauna room does the Harvia Legend 300 heat?

Harvia rates the Legend 300 for rooms of 494 to 989 cubic feet. Multiply your room length, width and height in feet. Unlike an electric heater a wood stove has a real minimum as well as a maximum, because the fire cannot be throttled the way an element can, so a stove this size in a room below the minimum will overheat it. Non-insulated surface counts, and so does a glass door: Harvia adds 1.2 cubic meters of volume for every square meter of brick, glass, tile or concrete, which is near 3.9 cubic feet for every square foot. Add that before you compare against the range.

What size chimney does this stove need?

A T600 temperature class chimney with a minimum internal diameter of 110 mm, which is 4.3 inches, connecting to the stove's 115 mm (4.5 inch) opening. That is the number most North American buyers are caught by, because standard US stove pipe is 6 or 8 inches and will not fit without an adapter. Harvia makes a matching steel chimney system. Call us before you order and we will confirm exactly what your installation needs.

How long can the firewood be?

Up to 39 cm, which is 15.4 inches, and 3 to 6 inches thick. This matters more than it sounds: firewood in the United States is normally sold cut to 16 inches, which will not fit this firebox. Either specify a shorter cut when you order your wood or plan to cut it down yourself. Burn dry, untreated split wood only. Never burn painted or pressure-treated timber, chipboard, plastic or accelerants in a sauna stove.

Is the Legend 300 listed for use in the United States?

Harvia publishes CE and EAC marks for this stove and does not publish a North American listing for it. CE is a European conformity marking, not a US or Canadian listing. Depending on where you live that can affect permitting, inspection and what your home insurer will accept for a solid-fuel appliance. Check with your local building department and your insurer before ordering, and call us if you want us to check the position for this specific stove.

Are sauna stones included?

No, and the stone for a wood stove is not the same as for an electric heater. Harvia rates the Legend 300 to hold up to 573.3 lbs, which is around 13 boxes of Harvia AC3020 at 44 lbs a box. Wood stoves take stone 4 to 6 inches across. AC3000, which we recommend on our electric heaters, is the smaller 2 to 4 inch grade and is the wrong stone here. Order AC3020.

What warranty comes with this stove?

Harvia covers this stove for 2 years in residential family use under the Limited Warranty for Harvia Products dated 18 November 2025. In commercial or other non-consumer use the period is 6 months. The registration extension applies to electric heaters only, so it does not extend a wood stove. Cover runs from your date of purchase, so keep your receipt. Harvia also requires that the stove is installed to its manual and to local code, and that the chimney work is done properly, so keep your installer's paperwork with your receipt. Transport or storage damage is separate and must be reported no later than seven days after delivery. Harvia US Inc. is the warrantor and handles claims directly, and we open the claim on your behalf. Full terms are on our Harvia warranty policy page.

Can I install it myself?

The stove itself is not hardwired, so there is no electrician involved, but the chimney is the part that matters and in most jurisdictions a solid-fuel appliance and its flue need a permit and an inspection. Clearances to combustible material are not advisory. The stove also needs a floor that can carry 207.2 lbs plus stone, and floor protection unless it stands on concrete at least 60 mm (2.4 in) thick. Talk to your building department before you buy, not after.

How is a wood stove different from an electric heater to live with?

You light it and wait, usually 45 minutes to an hour, and you feed it while you bathe. There is no timer, no thermostat and nothing to preheat from your phone. In exchange there is no wiring, no panel work and no electrician, it works where there is no power at all, and most people find the heat softer and the room quieter. It is more work and more ritual. That is usually the point.
