How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48 states on every Saunum heater, AirSolo and AirIQ control, and on any order above our free shipping threshold. A smaller accessory ordered below the threshold carries a flat charge, shown at checkout before you pay.

Ships from Wheeling, Illinois. We do not ship Saunum to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Heaters come by freight. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect ship palletized. The carrier calls to book a window, someone has to sign, and the delivery is curbside rather than inside, so plan for two people to carry it in.

Smaller items come by parcel. The AirSolo, the AirIQ control, stones and safety rails travel by ground parcel with no appointment, and they can arrive on a different day from the heater.

Stones ship in their own boxes. 33 pounds each: 4 boxes for an Air or Air Perfect, 6 for an Air L. Stones added from a Saunum heater's page ship free with that heater.

When it ships. The estimate on each product page is the distributor's usual dispatch time for stocked items. We confirm stock with the distributor when you order, and if your model is out of stock we tell you the new date before anything ships. Working to a deadline? Ask us first.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery paperwork, photograph the carton and the contents, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the heater is installed. Saunum's warranty excludes transport damage. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there.

Not included: the electrical work. A certified electrician hardwires the heater to 240 V through the AirIQ control unit, and the AirSolo to 120 V.

Read the full Saunum Shipping Policy

What does the warranty cover?

Heaters: 2 years in a private sauna. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect, from your purchase date. The manual that ships with the heater gives no commercial term, so ask us before buying for a gym, spa or rental.

AutoLeil. 2 years in a private sauna, labor excluded.

AirSolo and AirIQ. 2 years in a home sauna and 1 year in a commercial or public one. The AirSolo cover includes labor and spare parts. The AirIQ cover is parts, for the first installation and the original purchaser.

Excluded on the heaters. Labor, the heating elements and the salt spheres, plus wear, transport damage, misuse, improper installation, repairs outside Saunum's repair partners, and stones or salt spheres Saunum does not recommend.

Two conditions decide every claim. A completed installation report goes in with the claim, and the product must have been connected by a qualified electrician. The report form is in the back of the manual, so keep a copy.

Delivery damage. Report it within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs and before installing, because transport damage is not a warranty matter.

Who handles it. Claims go to Saunum's US technical support at Bathing Brands, and we take them there for you. Call (888) 500-5675 with your order number, model, serial number and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. On a Saunum heater, AirSolo, AirIQ control or accessory that is new, uninstalled and resalable, in the original packaging with all parts. We handle the return, so you do not contact Saunum or the distributor.

Installed means final. A heater that has been wired in, switched on or loaded with stones cannot go back, and neither can an AirIQ or AirSolo that has been wired in, or an accessory that has been fitted.

What it costs. Full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee of 20 to 50 dollars depending on the item. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard return.

Who pays the freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error. We never deduct the cost of free shipping from your refund, but shipping you paid at checkout is not refunded on a change of mind return.

Damaged on arrival. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing, photograph it, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the product is installed.

Stones. Not returnable once a box is opened, since stone is sold by weight.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we send the order to the distributor. After that an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it when we are not charged ourselves.

To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675 for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

Saunum Air L 10 electric sauna heater, the step up for a room the Air 7 has outgrown

Built for saunas of 283 to 494 cubic feet, the Air L 10 is a floor-standing 240 volt Saunum heater. A fan in its body draws hot air off the ceiling and sends it back out low, under the benches.

Look at it once your room measures 283 cubic feet or more: its rating starts there, and Saunum's manual says to take the larger heater where two sizes overlap, so it takes over from the smaller Saunum Air 7. The Air L body is deeper, so its basket carries about 180 pounds of stone closed or about 190 open, and it runs from the separate Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control. Browse the full line in Saunum sauna heaters.

The room it heats

283 to 494 cu ft

About 8 to 14 cubic meters, after Saunum's additions for glass, tile and log walls.

At bench height

Ceiling heat, sent low

Saunum says the fan evens out the room by bringing hot air from overhead down toward the benches and floor.

Simple to wire

41.25 amps

Like the Air L 13 and 15, it runs straight from the AirIQ, here on one dedicated 240 volt circuit.

Watch

What gets checked when an Air L goes in

Saunum's checklist for the Air and Air L: the element covers, the flue cap, where the temperature sensor goes, a heating test, the salt tray, the stone baskets and the safety distances.

Saunum narrates the distances in millimeters, with inches on screen. Safety distances change with the model, its power and the basket you choose, so follow the manual for your heater.

Room size

Will the Saunum Air L 10 heat your sauna? Volume, ceiling and glass

Saunum rates the Air L 10 for 283 to 494 cubic feet (8 to 14 cubic meters), in a room with a ceiling of at least 73 inches.

Air L 10 room rating
Room volume 283 to 494 cu ft (8 to 14 m³)
Minimum ceiling 73 in (1850 mm)
Stone basket to ceiling 40 in (1010 mm) minimum
Heater height 73 to 95 in, on a telescopic flue
Supply 240 V, single phase

Saunum's sizing method, from the Air L manual

Saunum's December 2025 Air L installation manual sizes a room this way: length by width by height, in feet; times 1.5 if the walls are logs, planks or staves with no insulation inside; plus 3.0 cubic feet for every square foot of glass, tile, brick, concrete or stone. That total is the effective volume, and between two sizes the manual says to take the larger heater.

An Air L 10 room, worked through

Picture a room 8 feet by 6.5 feet under a 7 foot ceiling: 364 cubic feet, already past the Air 7's 318. A 16 square foot glass door adds 48, for 412, inside the Air L 10's range. Twice that glass would bring it to 460, where the Air L 13 is rated too and Saunum's take-the-larger rule points to the 13. Our sauna heater finder runs the arithmetic, and the sauna heater buyer's guide covers wiring and code.

When the Air L 10 is too small, or more than you need

Under 283 cubic feet, the Saunum Air 7 is rated for 177 to 318. Between 283 and 318 both are rated for the room, and Saunum's rule for a room between two sizes, take the larger, points to the Air L 10. Above 494, the Air L 13 and Air L 15 take over, and the size comparison on this page sets all three side by side. Do not oversize as a hedge: Saunum's troubleshooting pages say a heater too powerful for its room warms the air quickly while the stones stay too cool for good steam.

How the fan works

Inside the Saunum Air L 10: what the built-in fan does

The Air L 10 heats like any electric sauna heater, with elements buried in stone. What it adds is a fan and a path for the air.

Ceiling air in, bench-level air out

A telescopic flue rises from the heater to an intake cap fixed where the wall meets the ceiling. With the fan running, the hottest air in the room is pulled down that flue and pushed out through the grille at the foot of the heater, beneath the bench. Saunum's manual describes the result as steam spread through the whole room instead of hanging under the ceiling.

Three fan speeds, set on the AirIQ panel

You choose one of three fan speeds on the AirIQ control panel. Saunum's manual has you leave the fan off during warm up, so the room heats sooner and the bench stays cooler, and switch it on just before you go in; the AirIQ can still start it by itself to guard against overheating. Prefer a more traditional, layered heat? The speed is yours to set, and the manual starts you at the lowest airflow. A cool air intake valve on the left side ships a third open; open it further to cool the air leaving the outlet, close it to warm it.

Hand turning the fresh air valve knob below the vents on the Saunum Air L 10 heater body

Limits built into the heater

If the air at the bottom of the heater passes 176 °F, the fan stops and restarts once it cools. The room sensor shuts the heater down above 257 °F (125 °C), and a high-temperature limiter in the stone basket is a second cut-out.

Seven Himalayan salt spheres sit between the outlet grille and the fan. They are optional; Saunum says the heater works the same without them.

Stone basket

Closed or open basket for the Saunum Air L 10

The Air L 10 comes with one of two stone baskets at the same price. The choice changes the stone load, the look and how far the heater stands from the walls.

Air L 10 Closed basket Air L 10 Open basket
Finish Black steel, stones hidden Stainless steel, stones on show
Stone load About 180 lb About 190 lb
To combustibles, each side 2 in 8 in
To combustibles, in front 2 in 10 in

Choosing between them

Take the closed basket when wall space is tight: 2 inches to wood at the sides and front. Take the open basket for stone on show and 10 more pounds of it, with 8 inches clear each side and 10 in front. Only the heater's back may touch the wall panels.

Filling the basket

You stack the stones by hand, largest first from the bottom, so air channels form around the elements; none should rest on an element or rise above the basket. Saunum rules out light, porous ceramic stone. Six boxes of olivine diabase fill either basket.

Before you order

Saunum Air L 10: what your electrician and your room need

Eight checks, each simpler to settle now than once the heater is standing in the room.

  • A dedicated 240 volt circuitThe Air L 10 draws 41.25 amps at 240 V, single phase. Your licensed electrician picks breaker and cable from Saunum's manual and the NEC
  • No GFCI breakerConnecting through a GFCI breaker is not allowed by the manual
  • At least 73 inches to the ceilingThe telescopic flue reaches up to 95 inches
  • Clearances2 inches at the sides and front with the closed basket, 8 and 10 with the open one, and nothing within 20 inches of the fan outlet
  • The bench above the outletThe top of the air outlet sits below the bench's bottom edge, with nothing blocking the airflow
  • The temperature sensorOn the wall 2 inches below the ceiling, not above the heater, 20 inches or more from a vent, window or door
  • VentilationIntake no higher than 12 inches off the floor, under or beside the heater; exhaust 24 to 47 inches up and far from it; six air changes an hour
  • The AirIQ Wi-Fi controlRequired and sold separately as the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control. Its power unit switches the heater directly

Running cost

What the Saunum Air L 10 costs to run

Inputs: the heater's 9.9 kilowatts at full draw, and the EIA's national residential average for June 2026, 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour (Electric Power Monthly).

One hour, full power

$1.82

9.9 kilowatt hours.

A 2 hour evening

$3.63

Warm up and a session, 19.8 kilowatt hours.

Three evenings a week

$566.49

For a year: 156 evenings, 3,088.8 kilowatt hours.

Read those as ceilings. Once the room is up to temperature the thermostat cycles the elements on and off, so the real bill lands lower. Your own rate is on your utility bill.

What you get

What comes in the Saunum Air L 10 box, and what you add

The carton holds the heater and its fittings; stone, control and wiring come separately.

Delivery day

Saunum Air L 10 delivery: free freight to the curb

Free freight brings the heater to your curb anywhere in the lower 48, and the buy box gives the estimate in business days. Someone has to be there to receive it. The AirIQ and the stone boxes follow free by parcel, possibly on another day.

Before delivery

Clear a route from the curb to the sauna and line up a helper for the heater.

At the curb

Walk around every carton before you sign. A crushed corner, a puncture or a water stain gets a photo and a note on the delivery receipt.

Before you install

If the heater sat in the cold, let it reach room temperature first. Cold under 23 °F on the way can trip the overheat limiter.

Write any visible damage on the delivery paperwork while the driver is still there. Photograph it and call (888) 500-5675 while the truck is still there. Report anything found after unboxing within 48 hours, with photos, and before the heater is installed.

Warranty and certification

Saunum Air L 10 warranty, service and certification

Saunum's current Air L manual warrants the heater for two years in a private sauna.

Warranty terms
Private (home) use 2 years from the date of purchase
What it covers Faulty materials or assembly; Saunum repairs or replaces, at its choice
Labor Not covered
Parts excluded Heating elements and salt spheres, plus normal wear
Conditions Installation report filled in and sent with the claim; the heater connected by a qualified electrician
Commercial use None in the manual that ships with the heater; ask us first

Making a claim

Hold on to the report form printed at the end of the manual once your electrician has filled it in, including the line confirming all three fan speeds work. Saunum's technical support, run by Bathing Brands as US distributor, handles claims, and Saunum's recommended repair partner does the work. Transport damage, improper installation, poor ventilation and unsuitable stones are excluded. Full terms: our Saunum warranty policy.

Certification

The Air L 10 is not named on the 2023 UL certificate we hold, which lists the Air 5 and Air 7; Saunum's Air L 10 manual carries the cULus mark under the same file, E525245.

Buyer questions

Common questions about the Saunum Air L 10

What size sauna does the Saunum Air L 10 heat?

Saunum rates it for 283 to 494 cubic feet, with a ceiling of at least 73 inches. Take length by width by height in feet, multiply by 1.5 for uninsulated log or plank walls, and add 3.0 cubic feet for every square foot of glass, brick, tile, stone or concrete.

Should I choose the Saunum Air L 10 or the Saunum Air 7?

Go by the adjusted room volume. The Air 7 is rated to 318 cubic feet and the Air L 10 from 283, and for rooms that either could heat, Saunum's manual says to take the larger heater, the Air L 10. It is 18.1 inches deep against the Air 7's 12.5, and holds about 180 pounds of stone closed against about 110.

Is the Saunum Air L 10 sold with its control?

Not inside the heater carton. Saunum designs the Air L to run only with its AirIQ Wi-Fi control, sold separately with our other sauna controls and a required row in our buy box. The panel mounts outside the sauna room on a wall and sets the temperature, the schedule and the fan speed.

What electrical circuit does the Saunum Air L 10 need?

Its own 240 volt single phase circuit for a 41.25 amp load, with the breaker and cable chosen by a licensed electrician under the National Electrical Code and Saunum's manual. The heater is hardwired to a splashproof junction box at most 20 inches up the wall, and never through a GFCI breaker.

Can I start the Saunum Air L 10 from my phone?

Yes, with the AirIQ on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the Saunum mobile app. Remote and scheduled starts are subject to the control's safety checks, and Saunum's current US AirIQ manual says heating will not start if the sauna door is open. The Air L carton has no door sensor, so we confirm with you before shipping whether your setup needs one for remote start. Wi-Fi is optional: choose "Set up offline" at the Wi-Fi step (older panels say "Skip"), and the heater runs from the panel without the app.

How many boxes of stone does the Saunum Air L 10 take?

Six boxes of 33 pounds. The closed basket holds about 180 pounds and the open one about 190, of rounded stone between 2 and 4 inches. Saunum's olivine diabase is a row in our buy box and ships free with the heater; the heater carton has none.

Is room ventilation still needed with the Saunum Air L 10?

Yes. The fan moves the air already in the room; it does not bring in fresh air. Saunum's manual makes a low intake by the heater and a higher exhaust far from it mandatory, for six air changes an hour.

How much noise does the Saunum Air L 10 fan make?

Saunum publishes no decibel figure. Its manual says there is always some sound when the fan runs, that a lower speed reduces it, and that an uneven or metallic noise means the fan needs a look.

How long does the Saunum Air L 10 take to heat a sauna?

Saunum's figure is 45 to 90 minutes in an insulated room with a correctly sized heater, with the stones ready for water at about the same time as the air.

What warranty comes with the Saunum Air L 10?

Two years in a private sauna, covering defects in materials and assembly. Excluded: labor, the heating elements and the salt spheres. A claim needs the filled-in installation report and proof a qualified electrician connected it, and the manual that ships with the heater gives no commercial term, so ask us before buying for a gym, spa or rental.
