Harvia Electric Sauna Heaters: Read the Model Code Before the Price
Every Harvia electric heater on this page belongs to a family, and the letters after the model number do most of the explaining. They tell you whether the timer and thermostat sit on the heater or on a separate wall control, and the part number tells you which supply it's built for.
That matters more than it looks. A heater with no controls of its own won't run until a matched Harvia control is wired to it, so it's really two purchases. Size the room first, then read the code, then compare.

The range
The Harvia Electric Range, Family by Family
Room size narrows the list. The family then decides how the heater looks in the room, how much stone it carries and what else goes on the order with it.
| Family | Outputs here | Controls | Supply versions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vega Compact | 1.9 and 3.5 kW | On the heater | 1.9 kW: 120V or 240V; 3.5 kW: 240V |
| KIP B | 4.5, 6 and 8 kW | On the heater | 240V single phase |
| KIP W | 4.5, 6 and 8 kW | Xenio CX170 | 240V single phase or 208V three phase versions |
| The Wall | 6 and 8 kW | On the heater | 240V single phase |
| Spirit | 6, 8 and 9 kW | Separate Xenio or Fenix | 240V single phase |
| Cilindro PC | 6, 8 and 9 kW | On the heater | 240V single phase |
| Cilindro PC E | 6, 8, 9 and 10.5 kW | Separate Xenio or Fenix | 240V single phase |
| Virta HL E | 6, 8, 9 and 10.5 kW | Separate Xenio or Fenix | 240V single phase; HL110E also 208V three phase |
| Virta Combi | 8, 9 and 10.5 kW | Separate combi control | 240V single phase; HL110SA also 208V three phase |
| Club | 10, 12.6 and 14.8 kW at 240V; 9.8, 12.3 and 14.4 kW at 208V | Separate Xenio | Both versions of every model |
| Virta Pro | 16 and 20 kW | Separate Xenio, plus an extension unit where the manual calls for one | HL160E: 240V single phase; HL200E: 208V three phase |
To see one family on its own, open its page: KIP, Cilindro, Virta, Club, and Vega Compact, The Wall and Spirit together. The Virta page also holds the Virta Combi and Virta Pro.

Wall-mounted families keep the floor clear in a small room. The Cilindro pillar stands on the floor and carries a tall column of stone, and the Virta, Combi, Club and Virta Pro cabinets reach the largest rooms in the range. Each heater's own page gives its clearances and mounting.
Sizing
Harvia Electric Heater Sizing: kW to Room Volume, From Harvia's Own Tables
Measure the inside of the room in feet and multiply length by width by height. Then find the output whose range covers your number. These ranges come from the specification tables in Harvia's North American manuals, and at the same output they differ from family to family.
| Output | Harvia models | Room volume, cu ft |
|---|---|---|
| 1.9 kW | Vega Compact 1900 | 70.5 to 106 |
| 3.5 kW | Vega Compact 3500 | 70.5 to 175 |
| 4.5 kW | KIP45B, KIP45W | 100 to 210 |
| 6 kW | KIP60B, KIP60W | 170 to 300 |
| 6 kW | Cilindro PC60, PC60E | 141 to 294 |
| 6 kW | Virta HL60E, Spirit SP60E, The Wall SW60 | 177 to 294 |

| 8 kW | Virta HL80E, Virta Combi HL80SA, Spirit SP80E, The Wall SW80 | 177 to 431 |
| 9 kW | Cilindro PC90, PC90E | 141 to 494 |
| 9 kW | Virta HL90E, Virta Combi HL90SA, Spirit SP90E | 177 to 494 |
| 10 kW at 240V, 9.8 kW at 208V | Club K10G | 390 to 600 |
| 10.5 kW | Cilindro PC110E | 141 to 636 |
| 10.5 kW | Virta HL110E, Virta Combi HL110SA | 177 to 635 |
| 12.6 kW at 240V, 12.3 kW at 208V | Club K12.5G | 500 to 750 |
| 14.8 kW at 240V, 14.4 kW at 208V | Club K15G | 630 to 1,000 |
| 16 kW | Virta Pro HL160E | 354 to 918 |
| 20 kW | Virta Pro HL200E | 354 to 1,130 |
Two adjustments from the same manuals
Glass, tile, brick and concrete soak up heat. Harvia's KIP and Spirit manuals add 1.2 cubic meters of volume for every square meter of uninsulated wall, which is about 3.9 cubic feet for every square foot. Most Harvia manuals also multiply the volume of a solid log room by 1.5, because log walls warm slowly.
Check the ceiling as well. Most of these heaters need a room at least 75 inches tall. The Club and the Cilindro PC110E need 78 inches, and the Virta Pro needs 82.7. If your room sits near the edge of two ranges, our Heater Finder runs the same Harvia figures against your measurements.
Controls
Built-In Controls or a Separate Xenio or Fenix Control
Harvia names its models so you can tell before you price them. The catch is that the letters don't mean the same thing in every family.
Controls on the heater
KIP models ending in B, the plain Cilindro PC60, PC80 and PC90, The Wall and the Vega Compact carry the timer and thermostat on the heater itself. There's nothing else to buy or wire, and you set the heat standing beside it.
A separate Harvia control
KIP models ending in W, the Cilindro E models, Spirit, Virta, Virta Combi, Club and Virta Pro have no controls of their own. Each runs from a Harvia control on the wall, from the Xenio or Fenix lines, which adds a start timer and, on WiFi models, the app.
Which Harvia control runs which heater
The pairing comes from Harvia's manuals and our heater pages. Confirm it on the heater's own page before you order.
| Heater | Control |
|---|---|
| KIP45W, KIP60W, KIP80W | Xenio CX170, in the 240V or the 208V version that matches the heater |
| 6 kW Cilindro PC60E, Virta HL60E and Spirit SP60E | Xenio CX30 or a Fenix control |
| 8 to 10.5 kW Cilindro E, Virta and Spirit | Xenio CX45 or Fenix FX45 |
| Virta Combi HL80SA, HL90SA, HL110SA | Xenio CX30C or Fenix FX30C combi control, which also runs the steamer |
| Club K10G | Xenio CX45 or CX30 |
| Club K12.5G, K15G | Xenio CX45 |
| Virta Pro HL160E, HL200E | Xenio CX45 or CX30 depending on the wiring, plus the LTY45 extension unit where the manual calls for it |
A control's rating changes with the supply, and the headline figure is usually the highest one. Read the figure for 240V single phase if that's what your panel has. The ratings Harvia publishes for the CX30, CX45 and combi controls, and their Fenix twins, are on our sauna controls page.
Supply
240V Single Phase or 208V Three Phase: Harvia's Two Supply Versions
Most North American homes have 240V single phase. Many gyms and hotels have 208V three phase, and many apartments have 208V single phase. Harvia builds several heaters both ways, as separate products that look the same in a photo.
The part number on each heater's page settles it: U1 is the single phase version, 240V on every model except the 120V or 240V Vega Compact 1900, and U3 the 208V three phase. The KIP W, Club, Virta HL110E and Virta Combi HL110SA come in both. The Virta Pro HL200E we carry is 208V three phase only.
What your electrician handles
Every heater here is hardwired on a dedicated circuit of its own, or two or more on the largest models such as the Virta Pro, and Harvia's manuals call for a licensed or qualified electrician. Harvia publishes rated amperage and minimum wire size rather than a breaker size, so your electrician sizes the circuit and breaker to the code your area has adopted. Keep the invoice, because Harvia's warranty terms ask for proof of professional installation. Amperage and wire size by output are set out on our electric sauna heaters page.
GFCI, in Harvia's words
Each Harvia manual for these families tells the electrician not to feed the heater through a GFCI (ground fault) breaker. Local code can require one anyway, especially for an outdoor sauna, and where the two disagree your inspector decides. Settle it with your electrician before the rough-in, not at inspection.
Stones
Stones for Harvia Electric Heaters
No bare Harvia heater ships with stones, and the right stone depends on the family as well as the size.
How many
Set by the heater, not the room. A KIP, The Wall or Vega Compact takes about one 44 lb box, a Club about three, and a Cilindro pillar five or six. Each heater's page gives its own figure.
Which kind
The manuals differ. The Cilindro manual asks for angular split-face stone 2 to 4 inches across. The Spirit manual allows rounded stone only, so it takes a different stone. The KIP manual says to use Harvia sauna heater stones.
How they ship
Stones added to a bare heater are charged per box at checkout, because they're heavy. In a Harvia heater package the stones come with the package, already counted for that heater.

Stones crack and crumble with heat. The KIP manual asks you to inspect them at least once a year, clear out the debris and replace broken stones, and to replace the set every two years, or sooner with very frequent use.
One order
A Bare Heater or a Harvia Heater Package
Most heaters on this page also come as a package: the heater, the stones its manual calls for and, where the heater has no controls of its own, the matched Harvia control. Packages are priced at the parts added together, so the choice is about convenience rather than a discount.
Choose the package if
You're fitting out a new room and want the pairing done for you. The control and the stone count already match the heater, which takes two easy ordering mistakes off the table.
Choose the heater on its own if
You already own stones or a compatible control, or you're swapping a heater like for like. Check the old control's rating at your supply before you plan to reuse it.
Every Harvia and HUUM package we sell sits together on our sauna heater packages page.
Who buys these
Three Ways Harvia Buyers Start
Replacing a Harvia heater
Start with the model code on the old heater and its control. Staying in the same family and output keeps the job simplest. Going bigger can outgrow the old control and the circuit, so send us both model numbers first.
Finishing a new room
Choose the heater before the walls close, because the circuit, the control position and the sensor cable cost less to place now. You can spread the cost with Shop Pay Installments at checkout, as our financing page explains.
Heating an outdoor sauna
Confirm the supply at the panel and ask early whether local code wants GFCI protection on the outdoor circuit, which Harvia's manuals advise against. Still choosing the room? Browse outdoor saunas.

Harvia Electric Sauna Heaters: Frequently Asked Questions
What size Harvia electric heater do I need?
Multiply the room's inside length, width and height in feet, then find the output whose range covers that number in Harvia's table for the family you like. Add about 3.9 cubic feet for each square foot of uninsulated glass, tile or brick, and multiply a solid log room by 1.5. Also check the minimum room height, which is 75 inches on most models.
What do the B, W and E letters mean on Harvia heaters?
They tell you where the controls are, and the convention changes by family. On the KIP, B means the timer and thermostat are built in and W means the heater needs a separate Xenio CX170. On the Cilindro, no letter means built in and E means a separate control. Spirit and Virta E models, Virta Combi SA models and Club G models all need a separate Harvia control.
Which Harvia heaters have built-in controls?
The KIP45B, KIP60B and KIP80B, the plain Cilindro PC60, PC80 and PC90, The Wall SW60 and SW80, and the Vega Compact 1900 and 3500. Each carries its timer and thermostat on the heater, so there's no wall control to buy or wire. Every other Harvia electric heater on this page runs from a separate Xenio or Fenix control, which also brings a start timer and, on WiFi models, the app.
Do Harvia electric heaters need a GFCI breaker?
Harvia's manuals for these heaters say not to connect the heater through a GFCI, or ground fault, breaker. Local code may require GFCI protection anyway, particularly for an outdoor sauna or a wet location, and where the two conflict your inspector decides. Raise it with your electrician before the rough-in, while the wiring is still open, rather than at inspection.
Does a Harvia heater need a licensed electrician?
Yes. Every Harvia electric heater here is hardwired on a dedicated circuit of its own, or two or more on the largest models such as the Virta Pro. The manuals call for a licensed or qualified electrician. Harvia publishes rated amperage and minimum wire size, not a breaker size, so the electrician sizes the breaker to your local code. Harvia's warranty terms also ask for proof of professional installation, so keep the invoice with your receipt.
Are stones included with a Harvia electric heater?
Not with a bare heater. Stones are required and are added separately, charged per box at checkout because they're heavy. A Harvia heater package includes the stones its manual calls for. The count depends on the heater, from about one box on a KIP to five or six on a Cilindro, and the Spirit takes rounded R-991 stone rather than the split-face stone most models use.
What is the difference between Harvia's 240V and 208V heaters?
They're separate products. U1 in the part number means 240V single phase, which most homes have, and U3 means 208V three phase, common in commercial buildings. A three phase heater won't run on an ordinary house supply, so confirm what your panel has before ordering. On the Club the supply also changes the output, for example 10 kW at 240V against 9.8 kW at 208V.
Should I buy the heater alone or a Harvia heater package?
A package puts the heater, its stones and any control it needs on one order, priced at the parts added together. It suits a new room, because the pairing is already done. Buy the heater alone if you already have stones or a compatible control, or you're replacing a heater like for like and the old control's rating still covers the new one at your supply.
How do Harvia electric heaters ship?
You get free shipping on most orders to the contiguous 48 states. Most Harvia electric heaters travel by parcel carrier, with no delivery appointment to arrange. A few heavier models, such as the Virta Combi and Virta Pro, ship by freight to the curb on an appointment. Stones added to a bare heater ship separately and are charged per box at checkout. Each heater's page says how it travels.
Are you an authorized dealer for these Harvia heaters?
Yes. As a factory-authorized dealer, we sell each heater with its manufacturer's warranty, on the terms Harvia's own policy sets out. The terms are on our Harvia warranty page, and they ask for proof that a licensed electrician installed the heater. If you want the size, control and supply checked before you order, call (888) 500-5675.
Tell us the room and the supply
Send the inside dimensions, how much glass the room has and whether your panel is 240V single phase or 208V three phase. We'll name the Harvia heater, the control if it needs one and the stone count.
