How does delivery work?

Free shipping to the contiguous 48 states on every Saunum heater, AirSolo and AirIQ control, and on any order above our free shipping threshold. A smaller accessory ordered below the threshold carries a flat charge, shown at checkout before you pay.

Ships from Wheeling, Illinois. We do not ship Saunum to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Heaters come by freight. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect ship palletized. The carrier calls to book a window, someone has to sign, and the delivery is curbside rather than inside, so plan for two people to carry it in.

Smaller items come by parcel. The AirSolo, the AirIQ control, stones and safety rails travel by ground parcel with no appointment, and they can arrive on a different day from the heater.

Stones ship in their own boxes. 33 pounds each: 4 boxes for an Air or Air Perfect, 6 for an Air L. Stones added from a Saunum heater's page ship free with that heater.

When it ships. The estimate on each product page is the distributor's usual dispatch time for stocked items. We confirm stock with the distributor when you order, and if your model is out of stock we tell you the new date before anything ships. Working to a deadline? Ask us first.

If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery paperwork, photograph the carton and the contents, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the heater is installed. Saunum's warranty excludes transport damage. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there.

Not included: the electrical work. A certified electrician hardwires the heater to 240 V through the AirIQ control unit, and the AirSolo to 120 V.

What does the warranty cover?

Heaters: 2 years in a private sauna. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect, from your purchase date. The manual that ships with the heater gives no commercial term, so ask us before buying for a gym, spa or rental.

AutoLeil. 2 years in a private sauna, labor excluded.

AirSolo and AirIQ. 2 years in a home sauna and 1 year in a commercial or public one. The AirSolo cover includes labor and spare parts. The AirIQ cover is parts, for the first installation and the original purchaser.

Excluded on the heaters. Labor, the heating elements and the salt spheres, plus wear, transport damage, misuse, improper installation, repairs outside Saunum's repair partners, and stones or salt spheres Saunum does not recommend.

Two conditions decide every claim. A completed installation report goes in with the claim, and the product must have been connected by a qualified electrician. The report form is in the back of the manual, so keep a copy.

Delivery damage. Report it within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs and before installing, because transport damage is not a warranty matter.

Who handles it. Claims go to Saunum's US technical support at Bathing Brands, and we take them there for you. Call (888) 500-5675 with your order number, model, serial number and photographs.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. On a Saunum heater, AirSolo, AirIQ control or accessory that is new, uninstalled and resalable, in the original packaging with all parts. We handle the return, so you do not contact Saunum or the distributor.

Installed means final. A heater that has been wired in, switched on or loaded with stones cannot go back, and neither can an AirIQ or AirSolo that has been wired in, or an accessory that has been fitted.

What it costs. Full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee of 20 to 50 dollars depending on the item. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard return.

Who pays the freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error. We never deduct the cost of free shipping from your refund, but shipping you paid at checkout is not refunded on a change of mind return.

Damaged on arrival. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing, photograph it, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the product is installed.

Stones. Not returnable once a box is opened, since stone is sold by weight.

Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we send the order to the distributor. After that an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it when we are not charged ourselves.

To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675 for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer

The Saunum AirSolo: a wall-mounted fan unit that brings ceiling heat down to the benches of the sauna you already have

The AirSolo has no heating element. It hangs on the sauna wall beside your existing electric heater, pulls the hot air that collects under the ceiling in at the top, and sends it back out near the floor.

It suits an owner happy with the heater and the room whose lower bench never warms like the top one. Saunum, based in Tallinn, Estonia, builds a fan into the base of its Air heaters; the AirSolo brings the same air path to a sauna with another heater. Two heights, the 70 and the 80, match your ceiling, and it runs on a small 120 volt supply. Browse the full lineup in our Saunum sauna heaters collection.

Your heater stays

No heater swap

It works alongside the electric heater already in the room and adds no heat of its own.

At the lower bench

Top heat sent low

The fan draws air from the ceiling and returns it near the floor, at three speeds.

Sized by the ceiling

70 or 80

Two heights, so the top intake can meet the ceiling of your room.

Watch

The AirSolo going in, in Saunum's own film

Fixing the z profiles, leaving 3 to 4 inches below the ceiling, connecting the base module to the flue, and the salt sphere tray.

It is an installer's film with captions on screen and no narration, shot on the AirSolo 70. The wiring belongs to a licensed electrician, and the manual that ships with your unit is the reference. The aroma bowl you see in the tray comes with Saunum's aroma oil set, sold separately.

Fit

Which sauna the Saunum AirSolo fits, and whether you need the 70 or the 80

Saunum publishes no room size for the AirSolo. What decides the order is your ceiling height and a clear stretch of wall.

AirSolo heights, with the top cap fitted
AirSolo 70 74.8 in tall (70.4 in without the cap)
AirSolo 80 84.9 in tall (80.5 in without the cap)
Gap under the unit At least 4 in to the floor; Saunum's drawing shows 20 in as the most
70 suits ceilings of About 79 to 95 in
80 suits ceilings of About 89 to 105 in
Width and depth 17.2 in wide at the base, 8.9 in deep

Saunum's render of an AirSolo 80 on a tiled pillar between two windows: intake grille at the top, outlet base low on the wall.

How the ceiling ranges are worked out

The AirSolo manual says the unit moves air most effectively with the edge of its intake cap against the ceiling, and keeps the bottom at least 4 inches off the floor so water there cannot reach the wiring; its surface-mount drawing gives 20 inches as the most. Add those gaps to each height and you get the ranges above. Between 89 and 95 inches either height works, and the 80 leaves less gap at the floor.

The wall, and the saunas it suits

Two hanging strips, each held by at least two screws, carry the unit on a wall rated for at least 77 pounds, on its face or in a recess, with the exhaust never pointed at the heater. That calls for a straight, vertical stretch of wall the unit's full height, so in a barrel sauna only a flat end wall tall enough for it will do. Saunum writes the manual for home saunas. The heater must still suit the room on its own rating, since the AirSolo adds no heat; our sauna heater finder checks that. For a ceiling outside both ranges, see the AirSolo Wall in the comparison below.

The airflow

How the Saunum AirSolo moves the heat in your sauna

Hot air pools under the ceiling; the fan takes it in at the top and out at the bottom.

Up top, in at the cap

The intake cap gathers the hottest air, near the ceiling. A fan Saunum calls the heat equalizing module draws it down the unit and out of the lower grille near floor level. Saunum's manual says this evens out the warmer upper and cooler lower layers of air while you bathe.

Three speeds and a cooling damper

A rotary switch on the lower right side has four positions: off and three fan speeds, clockwise for faster. A cooling damper on the front of the base admits cooler air from low in the room; Saunum recommends a third open, opened a little at a time if the outgoing air feels too hot.

The cap at the top is the hot air intake; the outlet grille is in the base.

On only while someone is bathing

Saunum is firm on this: the AirSolo stays off while the sauna heats up and between rounds, goes on just before you enter and off as you leave. Run in an empty room, it drives heat low enough that the manual warns the bench and floor can get too hot. Above 176 °F around its lower part, thermal protection stops the fan until the room cools.

The salt tray is optional

Seven Himalayan salt spheres sit on a tray between the outlet grille and the fan. Saunum calls them optional, with no effect on the airflow, and notes that salt in humid air can rust a heater's metal surfaces.

Before you order

Saunum AirSolo: what to settle before you order

Each takes minutes to settle now.

  • Your ceiling heightMeasured where the unit will hang, then matched to the 70 or 80 ranges above
  • Your heaterAn electric sauna heater, sized for the room on its own and never run above the allowed temperature
  • A 120 volt supplyPermanently wired by a qualified electrician, protected by a 1 A overcurrent device and a ground fault (GFCI) device. Saunum's own heaters must not be on a GFCI, so plan this as its own feed, apart from the heater
  • The cable routeThe cable enters the base vertically from below and must not lie on the sauna floor
  • The wallRated for 77 pounds, 20 inches clear in front of the outlet, no shower or spray above
  • VentilationProper intake and exhaust vents, as the manual asks; the AirSolo does not replace them

What you get

What comes in the Saunum AirSolo box, and what you supply

One box holds the unit, its cap and the hanging parts; you arrange the wiring.

Delivery

How the Saunum AirSolo is delivered

The AirSolo ships free by parcel carrier, not on a freight truck, so there is no curbside appointment to book. The buy box shows your estimated delivery date in business days.

When it arrives

It is a tall, heavy carton. Store it dry and never under heavy boxes, as Saunum's manual asks; a second person makes the carry easier.

Open it

Check the glass front, cap and base for dents or cracks, and count the parts against the list above.

Before it goes up

The manual forbids using a damaged unit, so inspect it before it is wired.

Found damage? Tell us within 48 hours of delivery. Photograph the unit and the carton, keep the packaging, and call (888) 500-5675 before it is mounted.

Warranty

Saunum AirSolo warranty and service

Saunum's AirSolo manual sets the terms.

Warranty terms, AirSolo manual
Residential sauna Two years, counted from purchase
Commercial sauna 1 year; Saunum asks that public sauna conditions be agreed with it first
What it covers Defects in materials and assembly, repaired or replaced by Saunum's recommended repair partners without charge for labor or spare parts
Condition A completed installation report with the claim, and connection by a professional electrician
Not covered Routine maintenance and wear, transport, misuse, faulty installation, accidents, water, fire, poor ventilation, salt Saunum does not recommend, and the salt itself

Keep the installation report from the back of the manual, signed by your electrician once the three fan speeds run in order; no claim is valid without it. Claims go through Bathing Brands' Saunum technical support, and we help you start one. Full terms: our Saunum warranty policy.

Buyer questions

Common questions about the Saunum AirSolo

Does the Saunum AirSolo heat the sauna?

No. It has no heating element. The fan moves the hot air gathered near the ceiling down to floor level, so your existing heater does all the heating and must be sized to the room on its own.

Will the Saunum AirSolo work with my existing electric sauna heater?

Bathing Brands, Saunum's US distributor, lists it for use with any electric sauna heater. It hangs on the wall beside the heater on its own 120 volt supply, so the heater's wiring does not change. Point its exhaust away from the heater, and never run the room above the allowed temperature.

Can the Saunum AirSolo be used with a wood-burning sauna stove?

We offer it for saunas with an electric heater. Saunum's manual mentions wood-burning heaters only in a caution: no heater, electric or wood, may run above the allowed temperature with the unit in use, because of overheating and fire risk. If your sauna is wood fired, ask us first and we will check with Saunum's US distributor.

Which Saunum AirSolo height fits my ceiling, the 70 or the 80?

With the cap fitted, the 70 is 74.8 inches tall and the 80 is 84.9. With the cap at the ceiling and the bottom 4 to 20 inches off the floor, the 70 suits ceilings of about 79 to 95 inches and the 80 about 89 to 105.

What electrical work does the Saunum AirSolo need?

A permanent 120 volt connection by a qualified electrician, with a 1 A overcurrent device and a ground fault (GFCI) device protecting it. It draws 0.31 A. That GFCI rule is the reverse of Saunum's own heaters, which must never be on one, so plan the AirSolo as a feed of its own, apart from the heater circuit.

Does the Saunum AirSolo switch on with the heater or with the Saunum AirIQ control?

Neither. A rotary switch on the unit, with off and three speeds, is its only control, and nothing links it to the heater. The Saunum AirIQ control runs Saunum's own heaters, not the AirSolo.

Why does the Saunum AirSolo have to be off while the sauna heats?

Saunum's manual requires it off during heat-up, between rounds and whenever the room is empty, because driving hot air low overheats the bench and floor. Switch it on as you enter and off as you leave.

Do I still need sauna ventilation with the Saunum AirSolo?

Yes. Saunum's manual asks for proper sauna ventilation, and the warranty excludes damage caused by poor ventilation. The AirSolo stirs the air already in the room; it brings none in and takes none out.

What warranty comes with the Saunum AirSolo?

Two years in a residential sauna and one in a commercial one, from purchase. Saunum's recommended repair partners fix or replace a defective unit with no charge for labor or parts, if the completed installation report comes with the claim.

How is the Saunum AirSolo shipped, and how long does it take?

Free, by parcel carrier, to addresses in the lower 48, with no freight appointment. The buy box gives your estimated delivery date in business days. Report any damage within 48 hours of delivery, with photos.
