How ordering works

Summit to Sea chambers are FDA cleared prescription devices. A physician's prescription is required for delivery to a home. If the chamber is going to a clinic or practice with a licensed practitioner on site, a prescription is not needed.

You can order today. We collect the prescription after your order and before your chamber ships. Email it to sales@recoveryroomdirect.com, or call (888) 500-5675 and we can point you to a telehealth provider.

If you are unable to obtain one before your chamber ships, we cancel the order and refund you in full.

Shipping & Delivery

Your Summit to Sea hyperbaric chamber ships free via freight delivery to any address in the contiguous 48 U.S. states. Liftgate service is included.

Prescription required. Summit to Sea chambers are Class II medical devices. A valid physician's prescription is required for your order to ship. Email your prescription to sales@recoveryroomdirect.com after placing your order — our team will follow up with you if we need anything else.

If we do not receive your prescription. Your order cannot ship until a valid prescription is on file. If we have not received it within 30 days of your order, we will cancel the order and refund you, less the payment processing fee our card provider does not return to us. You can cancel earlier on the same terms by emailing sales@recoveryroomdirect.com.

Processing time. Once your prescription is confirmed, your order is submitted to Summit to Sea within 2–3 business days. Chambers ship directly from the Summit to Sea facility.

Transit time. Typically 7–10 business days after shipment, depending on your location. You will receive tracking information once the carrier picks up your order.

Scheduling your delivery. All hyperbaric chambers ship as oversized freight on a pallet. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment before the truck arrives. Respond promptly — missed delivery attempts can result in storage fees charged to you.

What to expect at delivery. Standard delivery is curbside — the driver will lower the shipment using the truck's liftgate, but will not bring it inside or assist with installation. Have help available on delivery day.

IMPORTANT — inspect before you sign. Walk around the shipment and check all boxes for damage before signing the delivery receipt. Cosmetic damage can be accepted. If a carton is punctured or crushed, or the chamber itself is damaged, refuse that item and call us on (888) 500-5675 while the driver is still there. Note the damage on the Bill of Lading before you sign, writing exactly what you see, and ask the driver to initial it. If the driver will not initial it, note the damage anyway, sign, and photograph the Bill of Lading. Contact us within 48 hours with photos. Once the damage is documented on the Bill of Lading we can file a valid freight claim and arrange a replacement at no cost to you. If you refuse for a reason other than damage, or without contacting us first, return freight costs may become your responsibility. Signing a clean Bill of Lading releases the carrier from all damage claims.

Alaska, Hawaii & outside the contiguous U.S. Not available at standard checkout. Call (888) 500-5675 for a custom freight quote.

Free freight applies to standard residential curbside delivery within the contiguous 48 U.S. states. Transit times are carrier estimates, not guarantees. View our full Shipping & Delivery policy →

Return Policy

We want you to be completely satisfied with your Summit to Sea chamber. If something isn't right, you have 15 days from the date of delivery to initiate a return. All return and refund communication is handled directly by our team at Recovery Room Direct — you never need to contact Summit to Sea yourself.

How to start a return. Email us at sales@recoveryroomdirect.com or call (888) 500-5675 with your order number and proof of purchase. Do not ship the item back without prior written authorization. We will coordinate with Summit to Sea on your behalf.

Condition required. The chamber must be unused, uninflated, and in the same condition you received it, including all original packaging, components, compressor(s), and accessories. Class II medical devices that have been assembled, inflated, or used are not eligible for return.

What a return costs. Returning large freight equipment involves real costs — we want to be transparent:

  • 20% restocking fee deducted from your refund
  • Return freight shipping is your responsibility (hyperbaric chambers are large, heavy freight — costs are significant)
  • Original outbound shipping is deducted from your refund

Your refund. Once Summit to Sea receives and inspects the returned item, we will notify you of approval status. If approved, your refund is issued to your original payment method within 5–7 business days of inspection approval.

Prescription note. We keep the prescription you send us only to document that your order was properly authorized. We do not use it for marketing and we do not share it. If you would like us to delete it, email sales@recoveryroomdirect.com and we will confirm once it is removed.

Warranty. All Summit to Sea chambers carry a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering all components — including the compressor, electronics, zipper, windows, seams, valves, and hoses. Warranty claims are coordinated through Recovery Room Direct — contact us.

What Every Summit to Sea Shallow Dive Buyer Should Know First

We would rather help you make the right call than make a fast sale. The Shallow Dive is the most affordable entry into the Summit to Sea line, and it carries the same logistics and compliance requirements as every other chamber. Here is what to know before you order.

Prescription Required (Residential)

Summit to Sea chambers are Class II medical devices. Residential delivery requires a valid physician’s prescription. Licensed clinical facilities and commercial buyers are exempt. We guide you through the prescription process or connect you with telehealth providers.

Freight Shipping — 3 to 5 Weeks

The Shallow Dive ships via LTL freight, free to the contiguous 48 states. After your prescription is confirmed, expect 3–5 weeks from order to delivery. Scheduling a delivery appointment with the carrier is required. This is not a same-week product category.

Room Requirements

Fully inflated, the Shallow Dive is 84 inches long and 26 inches in diameter. It fits in a bedroom, spare room, or small home office with meaningful leftover space. Plan for at least 7 feet of clear floor space plus 2–3 feet of clearance at each end.

The 26″ chamber is narrower than The Dive (33″) or Grand Dive (40″), and that is the honest trade-off at this price point. If you have questions about whether the Shallow Dive is right for your frame, your room, or your goals, our advisors are available seven days a week before you commit. Financing available. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is listed as eligible on published administrator lists, some of which require a Letter of Medical Necessity. Those entries describe the therapy rather than the purchase of a home chamber, so confirm with your plan administrator before you buy. We do not accept HSA or FSA cards at checkout. See how HSA and FSA reimbursement works here.

What Is Mild HBOT?

The Science Behind Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at 1.3 ATA

Inside a hyperbaric chamber, atmospheric pressure is raised above normal sea-level pressure. The Shallow Dive operates at 1.3 ATA — the equivalent of approximately 11 feet below sea level. At this pressure, more oxygen dissolves into blood plasma than at normal atmospheric pressure. This is a well-understood physical property of gas under pressure, not a medical claim about any specific condition.

How the Shallow Dive Pressurizes

Two independent compressors gradually inflate the translucent nylon shell to 1.3 ATA over 5–10 minutes. You breathe ambient air inside — no oxygen mask or concentrator required. Sessions typically run 60–90 minutes at pressure. Decompression is gradual and controlled by a valve inside and outside the chamber. The dual compressor system means airflow continues if one unit ever needs service.

Prescription Required

Hyperbaric chambers are Class II medical devices, and federal law restricts their sale to by or on the order of a physician. We’ll need a valid prescription on file before your chamber ships — our team walks you through it, and we can connect you with a telehealth provider if you don’t have one.

Buying for a clinic or practice? Your order simply needs to be placed by, or under the direction of, a licensed practitioner.

Soft-shell hyperbaric chambers are cleared for acute altitude sickness. Any other use — including general wellness and athletic recovery — is off-label. Talk to your physician about your intended use.

Who Uses the Shallow Dive

The Shallow Dive appeals to first-time mHBOT users who want to try the therapy at home before investing in a larger model, individuals with limited space who cannot accommodate a 33″ or 40″ chamber, and budget-conscious buyers for whom the entry price matters as much as the experience. Most adults fit comfortably in a lying position for a full session.

Research Context

Growing academic research is exploring the effects of mild HBOT (mHBOT) across several areas of interest including recovery, cognitive function, and inflammatory response. This research is ongoing and does not constitute cleared medical indications for these devices. Summit to Sea chambers are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease other than altitude sickness. Consult your physician before use.

Prescription Required (Residential Delivery): A physician’s prescription must be on file before your Shallow Dive ships to a home address. We guide you through the process or connect you with telehealth providers who can evaluate your situation. Commercial buyers are exempt. See the ordering section below for next steps.
What Sets It Apart

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — Key Features and Advantages

The Shallow Dive is not a compromise — it is a deliberate design for buyers who prioritize accessibility, simplicity, and footprint over maximum interior space. Its 26″ diameter makes it the easiest Summit to Sea chamber to live with day-to-day.

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — 26-inch diameter
26″ Diameter — The Accessible Entry to Home mHBOT

Twenty-six inches is a real lying space for most adults. While it is narrower than the 33″ Dive or 40″ Grand Dive, most users complete a full 60–90 minute session without significant discomfort. The trade-off is honest: you have less room to shift position, but the chamber inflates faster, stores in less space, and fits rooms where a larger chamber would not. For buyers who want real mHBOT access without an outsized footprint or price, 26″ is the practical starting point.

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — alternate exterior view
84″ Length — Full Adult Height Accommodated

At 84 inches (7 feet) long, the Shallow Dive accommodates most adults fully extended. Users up to approximately 6’3″ can lie flat without their feet touching the end. The lengthwise proportion means the 26″ diameter is distributed well — there is no sensation of the end caps being close when lying at your natural length. Taller users should confirm their height against the 84″ spec before ordering; call us if you want a direct fit recommendation.

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — chamber setup
Easy Setup — Ready in Under 15 Minutes

The Shallow Dive is the most straightforward Summit to Sea chamber to set up. Unpack, unfold, connect the compressors, close the deflation valve, power on — the chamber pressurizes in 5–10 minutes. Most users have their first session running within 15 minutes. Takedown is equally quick: deflate, unbuckle, fold, and pack into the carry bag. For buyers who want a chamber they can use multiple times per week without a lengthy setup ritual, the Shallow Dive’s simplicity is a genuine advantage.

Compressors
Dual Compressors — Redundancy Built In

The Shallow Dive ships with two independent compressors, each with built-in sound suppression, working together to pressurize the chamber to 1.3 ATA. Summit to Sea builds every Dive series chamber this way on purpose: if one compressor stops, the second keeps fresh air moving through the chamber. Both must be running for the whole session. The compressor is covered under Summit to Sea’s two-year all-component warranty, so any service needs within that window are handled at no additional cost. Simplicity is not a weakness — it is a deliberate design choice matched to the Shallow Dive’s buyer profile.

2yr
Full Warranty
2-Year All-Component Warranty

Summit to Sea’s two-year warranty covers the chamber shell, zippers, pressure valves, compressor, and all included accessories — not just the shell. As an authorized dealer, Recovery Room Direct files your purchase details with Summit to Sea. If a warranty claim arises, we handle communication with Summit to Sea on your behalf. You are not left navigating a manufacturer directly without support. This warranty applies to the Shallow Dive on the same terms as Summit to Sea’s larger chambers — coverage is not reduced because it is the entry model.

120V
Standard Outlet
Standard 120V Outlet — No Special Installation

The Shallow Dive runs on a standard 120V 15-amp circuit — the same outlet used by most household appliances. No dedicated electrical panel work, no electrician, no facility modification. Plug it in where you have space and a standard wall outlet. For apartment dwellers, renters, and anyone who cannot modify their electrical setup, this is a meaningful practical advantage. The compressors are high-efficiency units that run together on one standard household circuit, so no electrical work is required.

Using Your Chamber

Shallow Dive Hyperbaric Chamber — Session Protocol, Start to Finish

Summit to Sea chambers are designed for straightforward independent use. This protocol follows the official Summit to Sea user manual.

01
Before You Enter
  • Clear adequate floor space — 84″ of length plus 2–3 feet of clearance on each end
  • Confirm the compressor is plugged into a standard 120V 15A outlet
  • Confirm the red deflation valve is fully closed before pressurization begins
  • Bring water inside — drinking during inflation helps equalize ear pressure
  • If using independently, review the solo-entry steps in the Summit to Sea user manual before your first session
02
During Pressurization
  • Turn on both compressors — the chamber pressurizes automatically to 1.3 ATA (4.4 PSI)
  • If you feel ear pressure: pinch your nose, close your mouth, and gently exhale through your nose (Valsalva maneuver). Yawning and wide mouth movement also help. You can partially open the deflation valve to slow pressurization for greater comfort
  • The chamber is fully pressurized when the relief valve begins releasing air and your gauge reads in the blue zone
  • Leave the compressor running throughout your entire session — it maintains continuous fresh air circulation inside the chamber
03
Decompression and Exit
  • When your session is complete, turn the red deflation valve to release pressure. You control the deflation speed by how far you turn the valve
  • Wait until the chamber sides feel fully soft and your gauge reads zero before unzipping — never open zippers or unbuckle straps while the chamber is pressurized
  • Unbuckle all straps, then open the zipper to exit the chamber
  • After extended storage: run the chamber for several hours before your first session to clear any odors, per the Summit to Sea manual

Always read the complete Summit to Sea user manual before your first session. Questions about session frequency or duration should be discussed with the physician who issued your prescription.

Understanding the Value

Home Access vs. Hyperbaric Clinic: What the Shallow Dive Changes

Hyperbaric sessions at standalone clinics require scheduling, drive time, and per-session costs that accumulate quickly. If you are evaluating whether the Shallow Dive makes practical sense, here are two ways to think about it. This is not a financial projection — costs vary by market, individual use, and session frequency.

Ongoing Clinic Access
  • Drive time and scheduling dependency before every session
  • Per-session costs accumulate with every visit
  • Availability may be limited; appointment windows set by the clinic
  • Cumulative cost grows the longer and more frequently you use it
Shallow Dive at Home
  • One-time purchase; no per-session cost after acquisition
  • 26″ is a real lying space for most adults — a functioning chamber, not just an entry-level gesture
  • Lower entry price than any other Summit to Sea horizontal model
  • Schedule sessions on your own time, without travel or appointment

The right comparison depends on your session frequency and how you value your time. For buyers deciding between the Shallow Dive and The Dive (33”): the additional 7 inches of diameter in The Dive translates directly into more in-session comfort, and we encourage buyers to consider that trade-off honestly before choosing the Shallow Dive on price alone. If interior space matters to you, call us before committing.

Who It’s Built For

Who Uses the Summit to Sea Shallow Dive Hyperbaric Chamber?

The Shallow Dive is not Summit to Sea’s flagship — it is their most practical entry point. The buyers best served by the 26″ model are those for whom access, price, or physical space makes a larger chamber the wrong starting point.

The Budget-Conscious First Timer

You have done the research on mHBOT and you want to start without spending more than you need to on your first chamber. The Shallow Dive is your entry point — a real, FDA-cleared Summit to Sea hyperbaric chamber at the lowest price in the horizontal line. You plan 60–90 minute sessions, 3–5 times per week. You do not need two people in the chamber, you do not need maximum comfort, and you do not want a chamber that takes over your room. The Shallow Dive fits your goals, your budget, and your space. If you want more room in a year, you can step up — but you start here.

Entry Home Use
The Space-Limited Home User

You live in a studio apartment, small urban home, or a bedroom that cannot hold a 33″ or 40″ chamber without taking over the room. The Shallow Dive’s 26″ diameter means a fully inflated footprint of 84″ × 26″ — it slides alongside a bed, fits in a converted walk-in closet, or stands in a compact spare room without crowding everything else out. For you, the Shallow Dive is not a compromise because a larger chamber was never a real option. It is the only Summit to Sea horizontal model that genuinely fits, and that makes it the right choice regardless of price.

Small Space / Apartment
The Cautious Researcher

You have read the literature on mild HBOT and want to try it at home — but you are not ready to commit to the price or footprint of a larger model until you know how your body responds and how consistently you will actually use the chamber. The Shallow Dive lets you run real sessions at 1.3 ATA in your own home without the premium cost of stepping up before you are ready. If regular use confirms the practice fits your life, you can step up to The Dive or Grand Dive with firsthand experience guiding your next decision. Starting here is the lower-risk path for a thoughtful buyer.

Try Before Committing
Practical Use Scenarios

What the 26″ Chamber Makes Possible

These are use configurations — not medical recommendations. What works for you depends on your specific situation and your physician’s guidance.

Solo Sessions — Lying Position

Most adults can lie flat in the Shallow Dive and complete a full 60–90 minute session comfortably. Wider-framed individuals may find the 26″ chamber snug. Confirm your shoulder width against the diameter if you have any concern about fit.

Compact Home Office or Bedroom Setup

The Shallow Dive’s 84″ × 26″ inflated footprint fits alongside a queen bed with room to spare, or in a small home office without crowding the space. It is the only Summit to Sea horizontal model that realistically works in a smaller residential footprint.

Try-Before-You-Upgrade Path

Many buyers start with the Shallow Dive to establish a consistent practice, then step up to The Dive or Grand Dive when they know they will use a larger chamber. The Shallow Dive holds reasonable resale value and can be transferred with the remaining warranty.

Simple Maintenance and Daily Use

Two compressors to plug in and monitor, with filter changes recommended every 6 months. The Shallow Dive is the most maintenance-minimal configuration in the Summit to Sea lineup. For daily users who want the chamber available with minimum setup friction, this simplicity is a genuine advantage.

Summit to Sea Model Comparison

Shallow Dive vs. The Full Summit to Sea Horizontal Line

The Shallow Dive is the entry model in Summit to Sea’s horizontal lineup. Here is how it compares to The Dive (33″) and Grand Dive (40″) across the dimensions that matter most to buyers choosing between them.

View Product — You are here — View → View →
Honest Take: The 26″ Shallow Dive is genuinely more confined than the 33″ Dive — that is the honest reality, not a marketing caveat. If in-session comfort during 60–90 minute sessions is your primary concern, The Dive is the better choice, and we will tell you that on the phone. Where the Shallow Dive wins is footprint, simplicity, and entry price. Both chambers use the same dual compressor system, so redundancy is not a reason to choose one over the other. If you are space-limited, budget-conscious, or want to try mHBOT before investing in a larger model, the Shallow Dive is the right starting point. Every Summit to Sea Dive series chamber, including this one, ships with redundant compressors.

What Comes With the Summit to Sea Shallow Dive Hyperbaric Chamber

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — setup and components
  • Shallow Dive hyperbaric chamber — 26″ × 84″, translucent urethane-coated nylon with reinforced zippers
  • Two air compressors — with built-in sound suppression; together they pressurize to 1.3 ATA on a standard 120V 15A outlet
  • Pressure gauge and control valve — internal and external controls for session management and safety
  • Inflation hose and connectors — all hardware to connect the compressor to the chamber
  • Chamber carry bag — stores the deflated chamber for off-use storage or relocation
  • Compressor carry bag — stores the compressor unit when not in use
  • User manual and setup guide — complete operating instructions from Summit to Sea
Oxygen Concentrators: Oxygen concentrators are not included, and they are not needed. The Shallow Dive is inflated with ambient air by the electric compressor supplied with it, and everything required to run a session ships with the chamber. Some retailers list an oxygen concentrator as required, usually citing 10 liters per minute at 20 PSI. That describes a separate accessory some owners choose to add, not a condition of operating this chamber. Consult your physician before considering any supplemental oxygen arrangement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Summit to Sea Shallow Dive — Frequently Asked Questions

Is 26 inches wide enough to lie in comfortably?

For most adults, yes — with an honest caveat. The 26″ width is a real lying space, and buyers with average shoulder width (typically under 20″) complete full 60–90 minute sessions without significant discomfort. That said, 26″ is narrower than The Dive (33″) or the Grand Dive (40″), and you will be aware of the walls. If you are a larger-framed individual with shoulder width approaching 20″ or above, we would honestly recommend stepping up to The Dive. If you are average-framed and prioritizing price or footprint, the Shallow Dive delivers a functional, real mHBOT session. Call our team to talk through your frame before purchasing.

How long does it take to set up and take down the Shallow Dive?

First-time setup takes most buyers 20–30 minutes as you familiarize yourself with the chamber, hose connections, and valve positions. After the first session, setup typically takes 10–15 minutes: unpack from carry bags, unfold, connect the compressor hose, close the deflation valve, and power on. The chamber pressurizes to 1.3 ATA in 5–10 minutes after that. Takedown — opening the deflation valve, waiting for full depressurization, unbuckling straps, opening the zipper, folding, and packing into carry bags — typically takes 10 minutes. The Shallow Dive is the most compact chamber in the Summit to Sea lineup, which makes packing and storing it the quickest.

What’s the difference between the Shallow Dive and The Dive 33″?

The main difference is diameter. The Dive is 33″ versus 26″ for the Shallow Dive — that 7 inches is meaningful in session comfort, especially for wider-framed users or those sensitive to feeling confined. The Dive is also 6 inches longer (90″ vs. 84″), accommodating taller users more comfortably. The Shallow Dive’s advantages are a smaller footprint and a lower entry price. If budget or room size is the deciding factor, the Shallow Dive; if in-session comfort is the priority, The Dive is the better call. Call us to decide.

Do I really need a doctor’s prescription to buy this?

Yes, for residential delivery — this is a Summit to Sea and FDA compliance requirement, not a Recovery Room Direct policy. Summit to Sea chambers are Class II medical devices (510k K072757), and a valid physician’s prescription is required before the chamber ships to a home address. If you do not yet have a prescription, we can connect you with telehealth providers who specialize in evaluating patients for hyperbaric use — most consultations take under 30 minutes. Commercial facilities — clinics, hospitals, PT practices — are exempt from the prescription requirement and can order directly. Contact our team with questions before you order.

What are the room space requirements for the Shallow Dive?

When fully inflated, the Shallow Dive is 84 inches (7 feet) long and 26 inches in diameter. Plan for at least 7 feet of clear floor space plus 2–3 feet of clearance on each end for the entry zipper and compressors. A 10×10 room is more than adequate; many buyers place the Shallow Dive alongside a queen bed with sufficient clearance. The 26″ diameter also means the chamber fits through standard interior doorways (24–30″), making it easier to reposition in your home than a wider model. Contact us if you want to talk through your specific room dimensions before ordering.

What is the lead time and delivery process?

After your order is confirmed and prescription is on file, we submit to Summit to Sea within 2–3 business days. Summit to Sea’s lead time is 7–14 business days from order submission. Delivery is free freight to the contiguous 48 states via LTL carrier. Residential delivery is curbside by default — the carrier contacts you to schedule a delivery appointment window and places the shipment at your curb or front door. White Glove delivery (room of choice, debris removal) is available for an additional fee; contact us to add it to your order. Total time from order to delivery is typically 3–5 weeks. Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada require a separate freight quote — call us for details.

Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized Summit to Sea dealer?

Yes. Recovery Room Direct is an authorized Summit to Sea dealer. Your Shallow Dive purchase through us is backed by Summit to Sea’s two-year all-components warranty, registered at the time of purchase in your name. We handle Summit to Sea communication throughout the ordering process, prescription coordination, and any post-purchase warranty matters on your behalf.
