Shipping & Delivery
Shipping & Delivery
Your order ships free from the manufacturer's California warehouse on a strapped pallet via insured LTL freight. Orders are processed within 2 business days, and delivery to most addresses in the contiguous US takes 5–7 business days after shipment. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order leaves the warehouse.
Scheduling your delivery. The freight carrier will reach out before the truck rolls — most carriers call 24–48 hours ahead to lock in a four-hour delivery window. Some carriers (including R+L) send an email or text the morning of delivery instead. Respond promptly either way. If the carrier can't reach you and misses 2–3 delivery attempts, terminal storage fees kick in and the item may be returned at your expense.
What to expect at delivery. A 53-foot semi-truck arrives at your curbside. The driver uses the truck's built-in liftgate to lower the pallet to ground level — that's where their responsibility ends. Standard delivery does not include bringing the equipment inside, up stairs, or unpacking. Plan ahead: have help available to move it once it's off the truck. Someone must be present to sign for the delivery.
CRITICAL — inspect before you sign. Walk around the pallet and check every box before signing the Bill of Lading. Note any scratches, dents, or scuff marks directly on the delivery receipt. If you see a large hole, crushed corner, or obvious structural damage, refuse the delivery — we'll ship a replacement at no cost. Signing a clean BOL releases the freight carrier from all liability. A damage claim cannot be filed after a clean signature. This takes two minutes and fully protects you.
Good to know. If your address changes after the order ships, contact us immediately — carrier re-routing fees may apply and will add transit time. If your location cannot comfortably accommodate a 53-foot semi-truck (island, remote road, gated community, narrow access), contact us before ordering so we can arrange an appropriate solution.
Free freight applies to standard residential curbside delivery within the contiguous 48 US states. Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada are not available at standard checkout — contact us before ordering for a freight quote. Transit times are carrier estimates, not guarantees. Applies to all Golden Designs Inc. brands: Dynamic Saunas, Maxxus Saunas, and Dynamic Cold Therapy. View our full Shipping & Delivery policy →
Return Policy
Return Policy
We stand behind every product we sell. If it's not the right fit, you have 30 days from delivery to return it — and if you need to cancel before it ships, you can do that within 24 hours of purchase at no charge.
How to start a return. Email us your order number at sales@recoveryroomdirect.com and we'll issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number within one business day. Write that number clearly on the outside of every box before handing it to the carrier — the warehouse will not accept returns without it.
Condition required. The item must come back new, unused, and in its original packaging with all components, hardware, and accessories included. Items that have been assembled, used, or modified cannot be returned. Electronic components — power supplies, control panels, and accessories — are non-returnable under manufacturer policy regardless of condition.
What it costs to return. We want to be upfront about this: returning large freight equipment has real costs. The manufacturer charges a 20% restocking fee on all returns, and you are responsible for the return freight. If your original order shipped free, the actual outbound freight cost is also deducted from your refund. Any storage or carrier routing fees incurred during the return process are the buyer's responsibility as well. Once the item arrives at the warehouse and passes inspection, your refund is issued within 5 business days to your original payment method.
Damaged on arrival? That's a different process entirely — and you're fully protected. If you refused the delivery and documented the damage on the Bill of Lading, we handle the freight claim and ship you a replacement at no cost. No restocking fee, no return shipping. This is exactly why we ask you to inspect carefully before you sign.
The manufacturer warranty covers defects that arise after the 30-day return window. See full warranty terms at goldendesigninc.com. Questions about your order? Call us at 1-888-500-5675 or email sales@recoveryroomdirect.com — Mon–Sat, 9am–6pm EST. Applies to all Golden Designs Inc. brands: Dynamic Saunas, Maxxus Saunas, and Dynamic Cold Therapy. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The 6-Person Outdoor Hybrid Sauna That Runs Two Completely Different Sessions
Tuesday nights: 20 minutes of full-spectrum infrared at 125°F. Saturday with guests: 185°F and a ladle on the Harvia stones — genuine sauna steam. The Kaskinen is the only 6-person outdoor sauna that handles both modes without compromise. Canadian red cedar interior, all-weather composite exterior, built for year-round use. $18,999 — $4,000 below MSRP.
Shop Pay installments, powered by Affirm, available at checkout — spread the investment over time. Free curbside freight delivery included.
What You Need to Know Before Investing $18,999 in an Outdoor Hybrid Sauna
Four things to understand before committing $18,999 to an outdoor hybrid sauna:
Hybrid Means Two Separate Modes — Not Simultaneous
Every session, you choose: infrared or traditional. The IR system and the Harvia 8kW stove are independent — one at a time, never both. Infrared: 118–132°F, ~20-minute preheat. Traditional: 170–190°F, 30–45 minutes. Each mode is complete on its own. The Kaskinen gives you the choice every time you step outside.
The Electrical Prep Most Buyers Schedule Too Late
Two dedicated circuits: 240V / 40A for the stove and 120V / 15A for controls, lighting, and audio. Both require a licensed electrician — this is not a plug-in unit. Most 200-amp service panels can accommodate both circuits without an upgrade. Budget $300–$1,200 and schedule the electrician before your delivery date. It is the most common delay owners mention after the fact.
6-Person Rating, 4-Person Reality
Interior: 63” wide by 78” deep — genuinely spacious for a 6-person outdoor unit. Four adults have comfortable bench space with room to spread out. Six is the rated maximum and it works — it just feels like a full spa, not a roomy one. If you regularly want 5–6 people for extended sessions, understand what “6-person” means in practice before committing.
Assembly: Two Adults, Most of a Day
Plan for two adults and a full day. Read the manual cover-to-cover before starting. The panel system is clasp-together; the electrical connections for both systems require following the wiring sequence exactly. Have your site cleared and leveled before the truck arrives, and do not begin assembly in rain.
Two Complete 6-Person Outdoor Hybrid Sauna Systems in One Cabinet
The Kaskinen answers the question most outdoor sauna buyers land on eventually: infrared or traditional? Usually both. This sauna delivers both modes — same footprint, same electrical panel, no compromise on either.
Harvia The Wall — Finland’s Premier Stone Heater
The traditional mode runs on the Harvia The Wall 8kW stove — made in Finland, ETL certified, IPX4 rated for wet environments. The stone compartment holds genuine sauna stones for löyly: pouring water on heated stones to generate soft, enveloping steam. Harvia is the stove standard in commercial spas and hotel saunas — not a budget heater. At 8kW, it brings a 6-person cabin to 185°F in 30–45 minutes.
PureTech™ Full Spectrum Infrared — 15 Emitters
The infrared mode uses 15 emitters: 7 carbon PureTech™ near-zero EMF FAR infrared panels and 8 near-infrared heating elements. FAR infrared is the primary driver of the heat therapy effect — research suggests it may support muscle recovery, relaxation, and circulation. The near-IR elements add the shorter wavelength associated with skin-surface photobiomodulation. Together they deliver full-spectrum output at 118–132°F — designed for comfortable daily sessions.
Three Features That Separate the Kaskinen From Standard Outdoor Saunas
Most outdoor cabin saunas offer a single heating mode and a basic interior. The Kaskinen is built differently.
The Harvia The Wall is the stove found in commercial spa installations — ETL certified, IPX4 rated, 8kW output. The cedar safety guard surrounds the stove on three sides (included). Stones ship loaded; pour from the cedar ladle, and the steam rises immediately. This is what separates a traditional sauna from every infrared unit on the market.
The exterior is all-weather composite: no annual staining, sealing, or treatment. The interior walls, benches, and backrest are all-natural Canadian red cedar — known for its aroma, thermal stability, and resistance to sauna humidity. Composite durability outside, cedar warmth inside.
The Harvia The Wall carries ETL certification (Intertek testing, equivalent to UL) and IPX4 water splash resistance — required for a stove that will have water thrown on it in an outdoor environment. ETL-listed components are accepted by the NEC for installation by licensed electricians. The label is on the unit; the certifications are real.
The Outdoor Sauna Experience — Built for Year-Round Use
The Kaskinen is not a wellness appliance. It is the anchor of a backyard ritual — the place people come back to in August heat and February cold.
Galaxy Star Chromotherapy Ceiling
Pinpoint LED points in a deep ceiling field that simulate a starfield under chromotherapy colors. The remote cycles through lighting modes independently from the heating system. Evening sessions under dim amber or blue light feel categorically different from clinical overhead lighting — the atmosphere changes the session.
Bluetooth, FM Radio, Built-In Speakers
The interior LED control panel includes an FM tuner and Bluetooth connectivity with built-in performance speakers. The 120V/15A circuit powers controls, lighting, and audio independently from the stove — so the soundtrack runs in both infrared and traditional mode.
Cedar Backrest With Accent Light
A built-in cedar backrest with integrated accent lighting — absent from the traditional-only Kaarina. The backrest positions your spine correctly during seated sessions. The accent light creates a warm ambient glow against the cedar grain. Small feature in the spec list; noticeable every session.
The Sensory Details Worth Knowing
Three more features that shape the daily ownership experience.
Löyly is the steam created when water meets hot sauna stones — a wave of moist heat that raises apparent temperature dramatically and creates the communal moment that has anchored Finnish sauna culture for centuries. The Kaskinen’s Harvia stone compartment holds enough thermal mass for multiple steam events per session. No infrared-only sauna can replicate this.
The Harvia The Wall uses a single analogue dial: turn it up, the stove heats. No app, no pairing, no display to decode. The interior LED panel handles time, temperature, chromotherapy, and audio separately. Two physically distinct controls, each obvious. This is how sauna controls should work.
The all-weather composite exterior stays outdoors year-round without the annual maintenance natural cedar demands. The Harvia stove carries IPX4 water splash resistance. Winter precaution: store the cedar bucket indoors during extended non-use in freezing temperatures. Otherwise, this sauna runs in snow — and the 185°F-to-cold-air contrast is when most owners say they understood why they bought it.
Three Ways to Use a 6-Person Outdoor Hybrid Sauna
The Kaskinen changes the rhythm of the week. Here are the three sessions owners build their routines around.
After training, after a long desk day, after the kids are down. Start the infrared preheat on your way to change — it is ready in 20 minutes. Settle onto the cedar bench at 120–125°F while the far-infrared panels work on muscles experiencing micro-tears, systemic inflammation, and neural fatigue. Research suggests heat therapy may support recovery and sleep onset when timed 90 minutes before bed. A daily habit, not an occasion.
Mode: Full Spectrum IR. Target: 118–125°F. Duration: 20–30 min. Preheat: ~20 min.
The stones heat for 45 minutes before anyone enters. Two ladles of water when you sit down — steam rises immediately, apparent temperature spikes, the cedar scent intensifies. Four adults have comfortable bench space in this mode; the Harvia heat and rising steam create a different kind of conversation than anywhere else. The traditional sauna ritual, in your backyard, on your schedule.
Mode: Traditional Harvia stove. Target: 170–185°F. Duration: 15–20 min rounds. Preheat: 30–45 min.
Run the traditional stove to 170°F. After 10–15 minutes, step directly into a cold plunge or cold shower. The physiological response to rapid temperature contrast — vasodilation in the sauna, vasoconstriction in the cold — is one of the most discussed protocols in the recovery community. The Kaskinen’s outdoor position means the step between sauna and cold is seconds, not a sprint. Pair it with a DCT cold plunge for a purpose-built contrast therapy setup. Call (888) 500-5675 for combined shipping on sauna + plunge orders.
Sauna: 160–185°F, 10–15 min. Cold: 50–60°F, 2–5 min. Repeat 2–3 rounds. End on cold.
Who the Kaskinen Is Built For
Three buyer profiles where this sauna makes the most sense.
You want daily infrared recovery without sacrificing the stone steam experience on weekends. You know what a Harvia stove is, and you won’t settle for an IR-only unit that leaves it off the table. The Kaskinen gives you both modes in one footprint — it’s the product you land on after ruling out every single-mode alternative.
You want a space where the people you care about actually come — and come back. Six people, proper group sessions, the traditional stove creating real ritual. The infrared mode means your partner uses it solo on a Tuesday without running a full stove cycle. One purchase, every member of the household covered, every day of the year.
A MedSpa, retreat center, or performance gym can generate real revenue from a 6-person outdoor sauna. Infrared sessions for daily bookings, traditional stone rituals for premium group experiences — different price points, same unit. At $75–$150 per group session, payback is faster than most facility amenities. Call (888) 500-5675 for commercial delivery and setup logistics.
What $18,999 Costs Per Session — Over a Decade of Ownership
Outdoor saunas add measurable value to residential properties — real estate professionals cite $5,000–$20,000 in appraised value for premium outdoor wellness installations. Monthly electricity: approximately $15–$30/month at typical residential rates (IR mode draws significantly less than traditional). HSA/FSA funds may apply — check with your plan provider. Shop Pay installments, powered by Affirm, available at checkout.
Choose Your Finish — Four Exterior Options
All four variants share identical specs, heating systems, and cedar interiors. Exterior finish is the only difference.
Kaskinen vs. Kaarina — Is the Hybrid Worth $3,000 More?

Kaskinen Outdoor Sauna — Shipping & Delivery
The Kaskinen requires two separate circuits from a licensed electrician. Schedule this before the sauna arrives — not after. Both circuits must be completed and tested before you can use either heating mode.
240V / 40A dedicated hardwired circuit (non-GFCI). Must terminate at an outdoor-rated spa disconnect within line-of-sight of the sauna. Typical electrician cost: $400–$1,200 depending on panel distance.
120V / 15A dedicated circuit for lighting, audio, and control panel. Standard residential circuit; typically $150–$400 for a licensed electrician if a panel slot is available.
Ships on a freight pallet (~1,795 lbs) via LTL carrier. Curbside delivery is included at no charge — the carrier places the pallet at your driveway or curb. Estimated transit: 5–12 business days after dispatch depending on your region. You will receive freight tracking when the order ships.
The pallet (~1,795 lbs) needs a paved or firm surface. The assembled cabinet (~1,600 lbs) is supported by concrete, reinforced patio, or compacted gravel. Installation site must be level within 1/4”. Measure any gates or passages from the driveway to the installation point before delivery day.
Threshold delivery or inside placement is available as a paid White Glove upgrade. Assembly assistance may also be available depending on your area. Call (888) 500-5675 before placing your order to discuss White Glove options and confirm availability for your delivery address.
Outdoor installation only — indoor placement voids the warranty. Site must be level, free-draining, and clear of pooling water. Allow 6” clearance on all sides. Read the instruction manual fully before starting. Do not assemble in rain.
6-Person Outdoor Hybrid Sauna — Questions Before You Buy
Can you run both the infrared and the traditional stove at the same time?
No — the infrared system and the Harvia stove are independent, and you run one at a time. Before each session, you choose your mode: start the IR system for a 118–132°F infrared session, or start the Harvia stove for a 170–190°F traditional stone session. Both systems share the same interior space but draw from separate electrical circuits and cannot operate simultaneously. Most owners use infrared for regular solo or couple sessions (lower power draw, 20-minute preheat) and traditional for the weekend ritual or group sessions where they want löyly (steam from the stones).
What electrical work does the Kaskinen require?
Two circuits required: (1) 240V / 40A hardwired for the stove, terminating at an outdoor-rated spa disconnect within line-of-sight; and (2) 120V / 15A for controls, lighting, and audio. Both require a licensed electrician. No extension cords or GFCI outlets for the stove circuit — both void the warranty. Most 200-amp panels can accommodate both circuits without an upgrade. Budget $600–$1,600 total. Schedule before your sauna arrives.
What are the interior and exterior dimensions of the Kaskinen?
Exterior: 69” W × 84” D × 95” H. Interior: 63” W × 78” D × 88” H. Assembled weight: approximately 1,600 lbs. The 88” interior height is generous for standing adults. The 63” × 78” floor space is genuinely spacious for 4 and rated for 6. Plan for at least 6” clearance on all sides for ventilation. Measure any gates or passages the delivery pallet must navigate before your delivery date.
What surface can the Kaskinen be installed on?
The assembled sauna weighs approximately 1,600 lbs. Concrete slabs, reinforced patios, compacted gravel pads, and pressure-treated deck framing (engineered for the load) all work. The surface must be level within 1/4” and free-draining — pooling water under the base causes wood deterioration. Allow at least 6” clearance on all sides for air circulation. The Kaskinen is outdoor-only — indoor installation voids the warranty.
How do you pour water on the Harvia sauna stones to make steam?
Löyly (Finnish, pronounced roughly “LEW-loo”) is the act of ladling water onto hot sauna stones to produce a burst of steam. Heat the Harvia stove to 170–185°F — allow 30–45 minutes for the stones to reach full thermal mass. Use the cedar ladle (included) to pour approximately 1/4 to 1/2 ladle directly onto the stones. The water vaporizes immediately, producing a wave of steam that raises apparent temperature sharply. Most sessions use 3–5 ladles spaced a few minutes apart. Never pour water on a cold or warming stove — wait until it has fully reached operating temperature.
Does the outdoor warranty cover normal weather exposure?
The Kaskinen is warranted for outdoor use with specific conditions. The all-weather composite exterior handles rain, UV, and freeze-thaw cycles without annual treatment. The Harvia stove’s IPX4 rating covers water splash resistance. Warranty exclusions include: moisture from improper site drainage, surface cracking of wood components (normal for all wood species), and damage from standing water under the base. Clear roof snow accumulation regularly. The 5-year limited warranty covers structure, IR system, and electronics. Harvia stove: 1-year. Call (888) 500-5675 for a plain-language summary.
What cedar maintenance does the Kaskinen require outdoors?
The exterior composite cladding requires no annual staining, sealing, or treatment. The interior Canadian red cedar develops a natural grey patina over time — normal aging that does not affect performance. Some owners oil the interior cedar annually with sauna-safe oil to maintain the warm color; others prefer the aged look. Clear roof snow in winter. Check base drainage annually for debris that could trap moisture.
Can the Kaskinen be used as part of a medical or physical therapy program?
The Kaskinen is a wellness device — not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Many buyers use it alongside clinical care, not instead of it. If you are under the care of a physician or cardiologist, discuss sauna use with them before starting. Certain cardiovascular conditions and pregnancy may be contraindicated. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any heat therapy protocol.
Is Shop Pay financing available for the Kaskinen?
Yes. Shop Pay installments, powered by Affirm, are available at checkout — allowing you to split the $18,999 purchase into manageable payments over time. Terms and approval are determined at checkout. HSA and FSA funds may also be applicable to wellness equipment — check with your plan provider before purchase. For questions about financing options before placing an order, call (888) 500-5675.
What is the return policy for the Kaskinen outdoor sauna?
Outdoor saunas are large-freight items — return shipping costs and logistics are significant. Call (888) 500-5675 before purchasing if you have concerns about fit, placement, or site suitability. We would rather talk through your setup than process a return after delivery. If a return is necessary, contact us within the return window. Inspect the shipment at delivery and note any visible damage on the freight receipt before signing.
