How does delivery work?

Free to the contiguous 48. What changes across the range is not the cost to you but how it arrives.

Electric heaters ship by parcel. Wall mounted and pillar heaters run roughly 29 to 55 pounds, so they travel as insured ground parcel. No delivery appointment and nobody needs to be home.

Wood burning stoves ship by freight. A stove moves palletized on an LTL carrier. The carrier calls to arrange an appointment window, someone must be there to sign, and it is a curbside drop rather than a carrier leaving it at the door.

Stones ship separately. A heater takes anywhere from one box to thirteen at roughly 44 pounds a box, so stone shipping is charged per box at checkout, including when the stones are ordered with a heater.

When it ships, and how you will know. Most orders ship promptly, though some part numbers are supplied from Finland and take longer, so we confirm the position for your specific model when you order. You get a tracking notification by email once it ships.

Where we ship. The contiguous 48 states. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada are quoted case by case, so contact us before ordering.

If it arrives damaged. Check the carton or pallet for damage while the driver is still there and note any damage on the delivery receipt at the time of signing, then contact us the same day. A clean signature with no damage noted makes a freight claim much harder to win.

What does the warranty cover?

Residential coverage. Two years on electric heaters, controls and steam generators including the heating elements, and two years on wood burning stoves, running from your date of purchase.

A free third year. Register within 30 days and Harvia adds a third year on electric heaters in residential use. We send you the link and your serial number with your order.

Commercial coverage. Two years on electric heaters, controls and electronics, but six months on heating elements and six months on wood burning stoves.

Professional installation is a condition. Harvia requires that the unit is installed and wired by a licensed electrician, and that proof of professional installation can be presented with a claim. A heater wired by the owner is outside the warranty, so keep your installer's invoice with your receipt.

Not covered. Normal wear, improper installation, poor maintenance, failure to follow the instructions, alterations and improper use. Sauna stones are a consumable and are not covered, and stones Harvia does not specify for your model can void cover.

Transport damage has a seven day limit. Harvia requires damage found on receipt to be reported no later than seven days after delivery. Call us the same day, because a claim is far easier to win with the damage noted on the delivery receipt.

Changing how you use it ends the cover. Moving a heater from a family sauna into a gym, a rental or any other commercial setting ends the residential cover rather than converting it. Tell us before you order if the room will be used commercially.

A callout for a fault that is not covered can be charged. If the defect turns out to fall outside the warranty, Harvia is entitled to charge for the work of finding it, including labour, travel and shipping at actual cost. Call us first and we will work through the symptoms with you before anything is booked.

Who handles it. Harvia US Inc. is the warrantor for North America and we open the claim with them on your behalf. Call (888) 500-5675.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from purchase. The unit must be new, uninstalled and in resalable condition with its original packaging and all included parts. A heater that has been wired in, fired, or loaded with stones counts as installed and cannot be returned.

What a return costs. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard customer return. You get full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee that typically runs about 20 to 50 dollars depending on the item.

Who pays the return freight. You do on a change of mind. We do, and the distributor does, when the cause is shipping damage or an error on our side, and nothing is deducted for freight in those cases.

Damaged on arrival. A different process, and it is time sensitive. Note the damage on the delivery receipt before you sign, photograph the carton and the contents, and call us the same day. Concealed damage found after signing is much harder to claim, so open the box on delivery day even if you are not installing for weeks.

Sauna stones. Stone is sold by weight and is not returnable once a box is opened.

Controls and accessories. Same 30 day window and the same condition requirement. A control unit that has been wired in cannot be returned.

To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675. A Return Authorization number is required before anything goes back, and product returned without one can be refused.

HUUM HIVE Mini 9 Sauna Heater Package

A HUUM heater carton holds the heater and its fixings. No control, no stone. This package is the HIVE Mini 9 with a UKU control and the 10 boxes of stone HUUM's manual asks for, so nothing is missing when the electrician arrives.

  • The HUUM HIVE Mini 9 sauna heater, 9 kW
  • A HUUM UKU control, in the panel finish you pick above
  • 10 boxes of HUUM olivine diabase stone, 331 lb (150 kg)

The package price is the component prices added together, at the manufacturer's own advertised prices. Nothing is added for bundling them, and there is no inflated compare at price. Buy the parts separately from us and you pay the same.

Output at 240 volts

HUUM filmed this one itself. Its heater installation films are made for Europe and show European wiring, so we do not use them; the sauna side of the job is the same, but the electrical side is not.

Sizing

Which HIVE Mini package suits your room

Every package in this series carries the same seven control choices and the same grade of stone. What separates them is output and the room each one is rated for. The stone load is the same across the series, so a bigger package is more heat rather than more mass. There are 3 of them.

Package Stone included Rated room at 240 V
HIVE Mini 6 10 boxes 177 to 318 cu. ft.
HIVE Mini 9 This package 10 boxes 283 to 460 cu. ft.
HIVE Mini 11 10 boxes 354 to 566 cu. ft.

Measure the room first

Output follows the volume of the room rather than its floor, so work in cubic feet: length times width times height, all in feet. Uninsulated brick, tile or glass pulls heat out of a room faster than a timber wall does, and HUUM's manual answers that by counting an extra 3.3 cubic feet for every square foot of such wall. HUUM does not say whether a glass door counts, so counting it is the cautious choice. If the number lands between two packages, our heater finder walks the room with you, or call and we will do it together.

What moves when you change size

Output moves with the size and so does the circuit, which is the part people budget late. This package is rated for 283 to 460 cubic feet on a 240 volt supply and 212 to 354 on 208 volts, and the breaker and cable HUUM calls for at both voltages are in the specifications below.

The heater

What the HIVE Mini 9 is rated for

HUUM rates the HIVE Mini 9 heater for 283 to 460 cubic feet at 240 volts. It stands on four adjustable legs, and it measures 18.13 in across and 29.53 in tall. HUUM gives its stone capacity as 331 lb (150 kg), and its olivine diabase stone comes in 33 pound boxes, so this package carries 10 of them.

The HIVE Mini is the round one: an open cage of stone held in stainless steel, on four adjustable legs. It can also sit partly inside a bench with HUUM's embedding flange, which is sold separately.

On a 208 volt supply the same heater makes 6.75 kW and is rated for 212 to 354 cubic feet.

The control

Which UKU comes in the package

Pick the control at the top of this page and the price moves with it. Every choice is a HUUM UKU: the same control, in a different panel.

The UKU Local runs the heater from the wall panel. The UKU Wi-Fi adds the phone app, so the room can be hot when you get home. Local comes in black or thermo-ash wood. Wi-Fi adds black glass, mirror and gold.

The control unit itself mounts outside the hot room, and the panel goes on the wall where you want it. HUUM's manual sets the cable runs, and the cables it needs are in the box.

The UKU panel finishes, and the app the Wi-Fi control adds.

The circuit

37.5 amps at 240 volts

The HIVE Mini 9 draws 37.5 amps at 240 volts, and HUUM's manual calls for a 50 amp breaker on 6 AWG cable. It is hardwired, not plugged in.

A sauna heater is a continuous load, so the National Electrical Code can call for a larger breaker and heavier conductors than the manual's figure, and local amendments differ. Your licensed electrician sizes the circuit and pulls the permit. On this model HUUM's breaker figure is below what the Code's continuous-load rule gives for its rated current, so your electrician and inspector decide the breaker and cable, and they may be larger than HUUM's figure.

Why this page quotes two voltages

There is nothing to pick here, and nothing on this page selects it. Almost every US home is supplied at 240 volts, while many commercial buildings and some apartment blocks are supplied at 208. It is the same heater and the same part number either way: on 208 volts it draws less and makes less heat, so HUUM publishes a separate output and a smaller room range for it, and the specifications below list both. Your electrician reads the panel and tells you which row applies. At 208 volts HUUM gives 32.45 amps and 40 amps.

Stone

The stone is already in the order

HUUM gives the HIVE Mini 9 a stone capacity of about 331 lb (150 kg). Its olivine diabase is sold in 33 pound boxes, so this package carries 10 of them, which covers it.

Why the grade is on the label

This heater takes stone 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) across, which is the range HUUM's manual publishes for it. The size matters because the same manual asks for the stones to be laid loosely enough for air to move between them, and for the heating elements not to show once the bed is filled. HUUM prints a warning that a too sparsely filled stone container is a fire hazard, so the bed has to be both full and open, and stone outside the published range makes that harder to get right.

How the stone travels

Stone is heavy and it is the line most quotes get wrong. In this package it goes on the same order as the heater and carries no shipping charge to the contiguous 48 states; ordered on its own it is charged per box. That is the difference worth checking if you are weighing the package against the parts.

The alternatives

Other HUUM packages that cover a similar room

A room of this size does not tie you to one heater. These HUUM packages have a rated range that overlaps the HIVE Mini 9. Those are the 5 closest of 15; the rest are in our sauna heater packages collection. Overlapping is not the same as interchangeable: check your own cubic feet against each range before you switch, because HUUM ties the warranty to matching the heater to the room.

Reading the stone column

Two heaters of the same output can carry very different stone loads, and HUUM describes its large stone loads as the source of a gentle, long lasting steam. Neither way is better. Where there is a real tie breaker it is usually the last thing on the list, whether the heater hangs on the wall or stands on the floor, which is the Where it sits column.

The outputs, room ranges and mounting are HUUM's own figures from the current US manual for each heater. The box counts are ours, worked from the stone weight HUUM publishes and its 33 pound box.

What you get

What arrives, and in how many boxes

A package is three separate cartons rather than one, because the heater, the control and the stone are packed by HUUM as separate lines.

  • The heater, in HUUM's own carton with its fixings and manual
  • The UKU control, panel and module, in a separate carton
  • 10 boxes of stone at 33 pounds each

Nothing else is needed to fire it once the electrician has made the connection. The rail, the drip tray and the embedding flange HUUM lists for this heater are optional and ordered separately.

Delivery

How the package arrives

The heater ships palletized by freight. The carrier calls to book a window, someone has to sign for it, and the handover is curbside rather than inside, so plan on two people to move it. The stone travels in its own boxes, 10 of them at 33 pounds each, and the control comes in its own carton. They can arrive on different days.

Shipping is free to the contiguous 48 states. We do not ship HUUM to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. Buying the stone inside a package is what keeps it free; ordered on its own it is charged per box.

Lead time runs about 7 to 14 days from order. Inspect the pallet before you sign, note any damage on the delivery paperwork, and tell us within 48 hours of delivery if anything is damaged, with photographs, so we can file the claim. Full terms are on our HUUM shipping policy, with the warranty and returns pages alongside it.

Questions

Questions buyers ask about this package

What is in the HUUM HIVE Mini 9 package?

The HIVE Mini 9 heater, a HUUM UKU control in the panel finish you pick, and 10 boxes of HUUM olivine diabase stone, 331 lb (150 kg).

Does the package cost more than buying the parts on their own?

No. The price is the component prices added together at the manufacturer's advertised prices, with nothing added for bundling.

What size room does the HIVE Mini 9 heat?

HUUM rates it for 283 to 460 cubic feet at 240 volts, and 212 to 354 cubic feet at 208 volts. Add 3.3 cubic feet for every square foot of uninsulated brick, tile or glass in the room.

Can I choose a different control?

Yes. The package includes a UKU because that is the control HUUM was certified with, and you choose the panel above. HUUM's manual allows any certified sauna control panel, so if you already own one, buy the heater on its own instead.

How many circuits does the HIVE Mini 9 need?

One. HUUM's manual calls for a 50 amp breaker on 6 AWG cable, hardwired by a licensed electrician.

Is the stone included, and is it enough?

Yes. HUUM gives the stone capacity as 331 lb (150 kg), and stone comes in 33 pound boxes, so the package carries 10. Fill the heater as the manual shows: a sparsely filled stone bed is a fire hazard, and the heater must not be switched on until it is properly filled.

Can I install it myself?

The heater is hardwired, so a licensed electrician makes the connection. Doing it yourself puts the warranty at risk and usually fails inspection.

Is the HIVE Mini 9 listed for use in the United States?

It is listed by SGS, not by UL. SGS North America is on OSHA's list of nationally recognized testing laboratories, and it lists the HIVE Mini 9 for the United States and Canada under certificate SGSNA/20/SUW/00067X, to UL 60335-1, CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60335-1, CAN/CSA E60335-2-53 and IEC 60335-2-53. The listing applies on the conditions SGS records against it: the heater is used with sauna stones, run from an approved sauna heater controller (the listing was evaluated with the UKU), supplied by conductors rated to at least 90 degrees C, and carries the warning tag on the bottom rung of the frame. Inspectors differ on what they ask to see for a sauna heater, so check with yours before you buy. We can send you the certificate.

What warranty comes with the package?

HUUM's heater warranty runs 3 years in a private sauna and 1 year in commercial use. Heating elements are excluded, which is why we stock them as service parts, and we file any claim for you.

Does the stone ship free with the package?

Yes, to the contiguous 48 states. Inside a package the stone carries no shipping charge; ordered on its own it is charged per box. We do not ship HUUM to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

One last thing

Not sure the HIVE Mini 9 is the right output?

Tell us the room size and how the walls are built, and we will size it with you before you order. This package carries the heater, the UKU control and the stone in one price, so the only decision left is the output, and we would rather talk you down a size than sell you the bigger one.
