How does delivery work?
How does delivery work?
Free shipping to the contiguous 48 states on every Saunum heater, AirSolo and AirIQ control, and on any order above our free shipping threshold. A smaller accessory ordered below the threshold carries a flat charge, shown at checkout before you pay.
Ships from Wheeling, Illinois. We do not ship Saunum to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Heaters come by freight. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect ship palletized. The carrier calls to book a window, someone has to sign, and the delivery is curbside rather than inside, so plan for two people to carry it in.
Smaller items come by parcel. The AirSolo, the AirIQ control, stones and safety rails travel by ground parcel with no appointment, and they can arrive on a different day from the heater.
Stones ship in their own boxes. 33 pounds each: 4 boxes for an Air or Air Perfect, 6 for an Air L. Stones added from a Saunum heater's page ship free with that heater.
When it ships. The estimate on each product page is the distributor's usual dispatch time for stocked items. We confirm stock with the distributor when you order, and if your model is out of stock we tell you the new date before anything ships. Working to a deadline? Ask us first.
If it arrives damaged. Note it on the delivery paperwork, photograph the carton and the contents, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the heater is installed. Saunum's warranty excludes transport damage. Refuse a punctured or crushed pallet and call us while the driver is there.
Not included: the electrical work. A certified electrician hardwires the heater to 240 V through the AirIQ control unit, and the AirSolo to 120 V.
What does the warranty cover?
What does the warranty cover?
Heaters: 2 years in a private sauna. The Air, Air L and Air Perfect, from your purchase date. The manual that ships with the heater gives no commercial term, so ask us before buying for a gym, spa or rental.
AutoLeil. 2 years in a private sauna, labor excluded.
AirSolo and AirIQ. 2 years in a home sauna and 1 year in a commercial or public one. The AirSolo cover includes labor and spare parts. The AirIQ cover is parts, for the first installation and the original purchaser.
Excluded on the heaters. Labor, the heating elements and the salt spheres, plus wear, transport damage, misuse, improper installation, repairs outside Saunum's repair partners, and stones or salt spheres Saunum does not recommend.
Two conditions decide every claim. A completed installation report goes in with the claim, and the product must have been connected by a qualified electrician. The report form is in the back of the manual, so keep a copy.
Delivery damage. Report it within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs and before installing, because transport damage is not a warranty matter.
Who handles it. Claims go to Saunum's US technical support at Bathing Brands, and we take them there for you. Call (888) 500-5675 with your order number, model, serial number and photographs.
What if I need to return it?
What if I need to return it?
30 days from purchase. On a Saunum heater, AirSolo, AirIQ control or accessory that is new, uninstalled and resalable, in the original packaging with all parts. We handle the return, so you do not contact Saunum or the distributor.
Installed means final. A heater that has been wired in, switched on or loaded with stones cannot go back, and neither can an AirIQ or AirSolo that has been wired in, or an accessory that has been fitted.
What it costs. Full credit for the product, less a repackaging fee of 20 to 50 dollars depending on the item. There is no percentage restocking fee on a standard return.
Who pays the freight. You do on a change of mind. We cover it when the cause is shipping damage or our error. We never deduct the cost of free shipping from your refund, but shipping you paid at checkout is not refunded on a change of mind return.
Damaged on arrival. Note it on the delivery receipt before signing, photograph it, and report it within 48 hours of delivery, before the product is installed.
Stones. Not returnable once a box is opened, since stone is sold by weight.
Cancelling before it ships. No fee before we send the order to the distributor. After that an administrative fee of up to 5 percent may apply, and we waive it when we are not charged ourselves.
To start a return. Call (888) 500-5675 for a Return Authorization number before anything ships back. Refunds go to the original payment method within 7 business days of the return being received and inspected.

The short answer
Saunum Air L 13 electric sauna heater for large home saunas of 424 to 565 cubic feet
For a large home sauna of 424 to 565 cubic feet, the Air L 13 is the middle Air L. It is a 12.9 kW Saunum heater with a fan that brings ceiling heat back down to the benches.
It shares the same 18 inch body as the Air L 10 and the Air L 15. Like both of them, it runs straight from the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control, whose power unit Saunum's current US manual rates for heaters up to 15.2 kW. Compare it with the rest of our Saunum sauna heaters.
Who it heats
424 to 565 cu ft
12 to 16 cubic meters: a large family sauna with room on the benches.
On the lower bench
Heat pulled down
Saunum describes the fan as spreading steam through the room so it does not pool overhead.
The in-between size
Fills the gap
The one Air L rated for rooms between 494 and 530 cu ft, past the Air L 10 and short of the Air L 15.
Watch
What gets checked when an Air L goes in
Saunum's checklist for the Air and Air L: the element covers, the flue cap, where the temperature sensor goes, a heating test, the salt tray, the stone baskets and the safety distances.
Saunum narrates the distances in millimeters, with inches on screen. Safety distances change with the model, its power and the basket you choose, so follow the manual for your heater.

Room size
Sizing a room for the Saunum Air L 13
The Air L 13 is rated for 424 to 565 cubic feet, 12 to 16 cubic meters, with 73 inches or more to the ceiling.
| Effective room volume | 424 to 565 cu ft (12 to 16 m³) |
|---|---|
| Lowest ceiling | 73 in (1850 mm) |
| Top of basket to ceiling | At least 40 in (1010 mm) |
| Flue reach | 73 to 95 in overall height |
| Electrical | 240 V, single phase, 53.75 A |

How Saunum counts the volume
Saunum's Air L manual, dated December 2025, works from the room's effective volume rather than its floor area. Length times width times height in feet gives the base figure. Uninsulated log, plank or stave walls multiply it by 1.5. Every square foot of tile, glass, stone, brick or concrete adds 3.0 cubic feet. If the total lands between two heaters, the manual's advice is the bigger one.
Glass and the Air L 13: an example
Say the room is 9 feet long and 7 feet wide with a 7 foot ceiling: 441 cubic feet, where the Air L 10 and the 13 are both rated and Saunum's take-the-larger rule already favors the 13. Add a 24 square foot glass door, 72 more cubic feet, and it is 513, past the Air L 10 altogether. Run your own room through our sauna heater finder, or read the sauna heater buyer's guide first.
Where the Air L 13 sits between its neighbors
The ranges overlap, and Saunum's rule for a room between two sizes is to take the larger. Rooms of 424 to 494 fall in the Air L 10's range as well, but the rule points to the 13; from 530 to 565 the Air L 15 is also rated and the rule points to the 15. See all three in the Air L comparison. Saunum warns against oversizing: an overpowered heater warms the room quickly while its stones stay too cool to steam well.
The fan
How the Saunum Air L 13 moves heat in a large room
In a large room, heat collects at the ceiling. The Air L 13 carries a fan that takes that air and returns it low.
The path the air takes
The intake cap sits in the corner where wall meets ceiling, joined to the heater by a telescopic flue. When the fan is on, it draws air from that cap down through the flue and blows it out of the outlet grille at floor level, under the bench. According to Saunum, this spreads steam across the room rather than letting it gather overhead. If you like the heat layered the old way, you set the speed, and the lowest setting moves the least air.
Speed, timing and the valve
The AirIQ panel offers three fan speeds. Per Saunum's manual, you leave the fan switched off while the room comes up to heat, which it says is faster and keeps the benches from getting too hot, then start it just before people go in; the AirIQ can still switch it on by itself to protect against overheating. On the left of the body is a cool air intake valve, set about a third open at the factory: turn it open to cool the stream from the outlet, closed to make it hotter.

Protection that comes with it
Should the air around the heater's lower section climb past 176 °F, the fan switches itself off and comes back once things cool. Above 257 °F (125 °C) at the sensor the heater cuts out, with a second high-temperature limiter in the stone basket. Saunum's manual also tells owners not to leave the fan running in an empty room. The heater ships with seven Himalayan salt spheres that seat behind the outlet grille; Saunum calls them optional.
Stone basket
Saunum Air L 13 stone basket: closed black or open stainless
Both baskets cost the same. The open one shows its stone and holds 10 pounds more, and asks for more space around it.
| Air L 13 Closed, black steel | Air L 13 Open, stainless steel | |
|---|---|---|
| Stone it holds | About 180 lb | About 190 lb |
| Side gap to wood or other combustibles | 2 in | 8 in |
| Front gap | 2 in | 10 in |
| What you see | A black steel box | Stone behind stainless bars |
Picking a basket for a larger room
If the room has space for the open basket's 8 inches each side and 10 in front, you get the stone on show. Choose the closed basket where the heater has to tuck into a corner, since it needs only 2 inches. Only the heater's back may sit against the paneling, and a recessed niche may be no more than 3.9 inches deep.
Stone for the Air L 13
No stone ships inside the heater. Saunum specifies rounded stone 2 to 4 inches across, washed and dried, stacked by hand with the largest pieces at the bottom so air can move around the elements. Stones must not sit on an element or above the basket rim. It takes six 33 pound boxes of olivine diabase, offered in our buy box and shipped free with the heater.

Before you order
Saunum Air L 13: the control, the circuit and the room
Go through this list with your electrician before you order. The electrician works from the manual that ships in the box.
- Run from the AirIQThe AirIQ's power unit switches the 12,900 W Air L 13 directly; your electrician wires both from the manuals in the box
- A dedicated 240 V circuit53.75 amps at 240 V, single phase; the electrician sizes the circuit from the manual and code
- Not on a GFCIThe manual forbids a GFCI breaker on this heater
- Ceiling height73 inches minimum, with the intake cap at the ceiling
- ClearancesClosed basket 2 inches at sides and front; open basket 8 and 10. Leave the 20 inches before the fan outlet empty
- Bench heightThe bench's lower edge must sit above the top of the air outlet, and nothing may block the outlet
- Sensor placementThe temperature sensor goes on a wall 2 inches under the ceiling, never over the heater, and kept 20 inches from any vent, window or door
- VentilationA low intake within 12 inches of the floor near the heater, a higher exhaust 24 to 47 inches up across the room, six air changes an hour
- The AirIQ Wi-Fi controlRequired; the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control is a required row in our buy box, with its panel mounted outside the sauna room
- Insulation firstThe room should be insulated before installation, per Saunum
Running cost
Saunum Air L 13 running cost at full power
Worked at the heater's 12.9 kilowatts and 18.34 cents per kilowatt hour, the June 2026 US residential average from the EIA's Electric Power Monthly.
Per hour, full draw
$2.37
12.9 kilowatt hours each hour.
One 2 hour evening
$4.73
25.8 kilowatt hours, heating up plus a session.
Three a week, one year
$738.15
156 evenings, 4,024.8 kilowatt hours.
These are upper limits. The thermostat switches the elements off and on once the room is hot, so much of a session runs below full draw. Check your bill for your own rate.
In the box

Delivery day
When the Saunum Air L 13 arrives at your curb
We ship it free to your curb by freight within the lower 48. Someone needs to be home to take delivery; the buy box shows when to expect it, counted in business days. Stones and the AirIQ come separately by parcel.
Ahead of the truck
Plan the carry from the curb to the sauna and have a second person ready for the heater.
With the driver
Inspect each carton before signing. Photograph any dent, tear or wet patch and note it on the receipt.
After unpacking
A heater delivered in freezing weather should warm to room temperature before it is connected; cold below 23 °F can trip its limiter.

Warranty and certification
Saunum Air L 13 warranty, commercial use and certification
The current Air L manual's warranty runs two years and is written for a private sauna.
| Term, private sauna | 2 years from purchase |
|---|---|
| Term, club, gym, spa or rental | None in the manual that ships with the heater |
| Covered | Faults in materials and assembly; Saunum repairs or replaces |
| Not covered | Labor, heating elements, salt spheres, wear, transport damage, poor installation or ventilation |
| To claim | Completed installation report; qualified electrician's connection |
How claims are handled
Have the electrician complete the manual's installation report, which records the serial number and confirms every element heats and all three fan speeds run. It goes with any claim. The full terms are on our Saunum warranty policy page.
Certification
The Air L 13 is not named on the 2023 UL certificate we hold, which lists the Air 5 and Air 7; Saunum's Air L 13 manual carries the cULus mark under the same file, E525245.
Questions
Saunum Air L 13 questions, answered
What room is the Saunum Air L 13 sized for?
An effective volume of 424 to 565 cubic feet with a ceiling of 73 inches or more. Effective volume is the room's length, width and height multiplied, raised by half for uninsulated log walls, plus 3.0 cubic feet per square foot of tile, glass, stone, brick or concrete.
Does the AirIQ run the Saunum Air L 13 directly?
Yes. Saunum's current US AirIQ manual (August 2026, as in 2025) rates the power unit for heaters up to 15.2 kW, and the Air L 13 is 12,900 W. An earlier 2023 edition of that manual capped it at 12 kW and called for a contactor box above that, so we confirm which edition ships with your order, and your electrician follows the manual in the box.
Can the Saunum Air L 13 go in a gym, club or rental sauna?
The manual that ships with the Air L 13 covers private saunas for two years and gives no commercial term, so ask us before buying for a gym, club or rental, and we will ask Saunum's US support for you.
Should I pick the Saunum Air L 13 or the Air L 10 for a room around 450 cubic feet?
Both are rated for 424 to 494 cubic feet, and Saunum's manual says to take the larger heater when a room falls between two sizes: the Air L 13. It draws 53.75 amps where the Air L 10 draws 41.25 amps, so price the wiring with your electrician.
Which control runs the Saunum Air L 13, and where does it go?
Only the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control, listed with our sauna controls and added in our buy box. Its panel is mounted on a wall outside the sauna room, away from splashes, and sets temperature, schedule and fan speed.
Can I start the Saunum Air L 13 from my phone?
Yes, through the AirIQ on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the Saunum mobile app, subject to the control's safety checks: Saunum's current US AirIQ manual says heating will not start if the sauna door is open. No door sensor comes in the Air L carton, so before shipping we confirm with you whether your setup needs one for remote start. Once a scheduled session reaches temperature it runs half an hour, then ends unless confirmed. Wi-Fi is optional: choose "Set up offline" at the Wi-Fi step (older panels say "Skip"), and the heater runs from the panel without the app.
Can the Saunum Air L 13 go on a GFCI breaker?
No. A GFCI breaker is ruled out in Saunum's manual. The heater is hardwired on a dedicated 240 volt single phase circuit at 53.75 amps, and a licensed electrician works out breaker and cable sizes from the manual and the electrical code.
Is the fan on the Saunum Air L 13 loud?
Saunum gives no decibel rating. Its manual notes that a running fan always makes some sound and that switching to a lower speed makes it quieter; a noise that is uneven or metallic is a sign the fan needs checking.
How is the Saunum Air L 13 delivered?
The heater comes free by freight to your curb in the lower 48; the six stone boxes and the AirIQ follow free by parcel, possibly on another day. Someone must be there to check the heater for damage and sign.
Who handles a warranty claim on the Saunum Air L 13?
Saunum's US technical support at Bathing Brands, the distributor, with repairs by Saunum's recommended repair partner. Send the completed installation report with the claim. The two year private-use warranty excludes labor, heating elements and salt spheres.
One last thing
Add the Saunum Air L 13 to your cart
Choose the closed or open basket above, then add the Air L 13 to your cart with the AirIQ and six stone boxes from the buy box. Freight to the curb is free for the heater, and the parcels follow free. A room this size on one heater, with sauna heater financing to spread the cost. Before you order, go through the checklist above with your electrician. Unsure about the room or the wiring? Call before you buy.
