What a Four Person Sauna Really Holds
Every model here includes four in its maker's seated rating. Bench layout and shape matter as much as the number.
Four upright; lying down varies
Plan on four adults sitting up. No maker here rates a room for lying down, so check bench lengths on each listing if that matters to you.

Barrel, cube or cabin
A 4 person barrel sauna seats four in facing pairs, tallest at the centerline. Cubes keep full height to the walls, with benches that can wrap a corner. The gable cabin peaks at the ridge.

Outdoor rooms here run from about 59 by 80 inches of ground to about 98 by 97. The indoor infrared cabins measure about 70 to 74 inches wide outside.

4 Person Outdoor Sauna or Indoor Room: How Each Is Heated
Here, heat type and setting travel together: infrared means an indoor cabin, and every outdoor room is a traditional sauna. The traditional rooms split on whether the heater ships with them.
4 person infrared saunas
Radiant panels warm you at lower air temperatures, up to about 140°F where listed. Each one needs its own 20A circuit, and published warm-up times run about 25 to 50 minutes.

A few traditional rooms ship with an electric stove matched to the room. Their maker calls for two circuits: 240V for the stove and 120V, 15A for the controls and lights.

Most outdoor rooms ship without a heater. You choose from the maker's list, usually 6 to 9 kW electric, and some of these rooms also take a wood-burning stove.

At full output a 6 kW heater draws at most 6 kWh an hour and an 8 kW heater 8. Multiply by your hours, warm-up included, and the rate on your bill.
Before You Order a 4 Person Sauna
Six checks, most of them outdoors.
- Get the electrician's quote first. It should cover every circuit and the run from your panel.
- Ask about ground-fault protection outdoors. Recent electrical code editions require it on many outdoor outlets at homes, while several heater manuals say not to feed a heater through one. Your electrician and inspector settle it.
- Choose the heater before the base goes down. It sets the circuit; a wood stove instead needs a chimney your local inspector approves, installed by a qualified installer.
- Build a base that drains and stays level. Ground that settles pulls a barrel or frame out of true.
- Have a deck checked first. A full outdoor kit is heavy before the heater, stones and bathers go in, so ask a structural engineer.
- Check the build date and return terms. Some models are built after you order, with an estimated build date on the listing, and cannot be returned once production starts.
