How does delivery work?

Freight, quoted for your address. These are crated units of roughly 1,300 to 4,800 pounds going to residential addresses, so there is no flat rate. Send us your postcode before you order and we will come back with a real figure.

The outdoor cabins arrive fully assembled. All eight travel as one piece, so there is no build on your weekend, but a forklift or crane has to reach the pad. Measure the gate, the side return and anything overhead first.

The indoor cabins arrive in panels. The Lumaria, Aalto and Astra are built in place by two to four people. What matters is the route in, not the room itself.

Delivery is curbside and someone has to be there. The carrier calls to book a window and brings it to the kerb or driveway. Moving it onto the pad is yours to arrange.

Inspect before you sign. Note any damage on the delivery paperwork while the driver is there, photograph everything, and tell us within 48 hours. Refuse a structurally damaged crate and call us.

Lead times. Twelve weeks on every outdoor cabin, four to eight on the three indoor models, built to order from the day you order.

What does the warranty cover?

Two warranties, not one. ThermaSol covers the sauna room and Harvia covers the heater inside it. They differ in length and they are claimed in different places.

The sauna room: 1 year. From substantial project completion, covering defective workmanship and materials such as mis-cuts, rough lumber or knot loss.

The heater, control and power box: 5 years residential. One year in a commercial setting. Stones and heating elements carry one year either way.

Two conditions decide most claims. The room must be registered within 15 days of purchase, and installed by a certified electrician or qualified service representative.

Commercial use voids it. ThermaSol excludes residential units used in any non-residential setting, naming hotels, spas, gyms, health clubs and short-term rentals. Tell us before you order and we will quote a range that is warranted for it.

Who you call. Cabin claims go through ThermaSol and we start them for you. Harvia heaters are serviced by Harvia US directly, which is a separate route.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from delivery. Cancelling before it ships costs nothing at all, and on a twelve week cabin there is usually room to change your mind.

Condition required. As new, unused, unassembled and in its original packaging with every component. Once a unit has been sited, connected or assembled it is no longer returnable.

Get an authorisation first. Contact us with your order number, we raise it with ThermaSol, and you ship within 14 days with the authorisation number written on the crate.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of up to 5% may apply and you pay the return freight, which is substantial on a crated sauna. We do not deduct the original outbound shipping. Ask us for an estimate before you commit.

Damaged on arrival is a freight claim, not a return. Note it on the paperwork while the driver is present, photograph it before anything moves, and tell us within 48 hours. Handled that way it costs you nothing.

Refunds. To the original payment method once the unit is received and inspected, normally within 5 to 10 business days.

The short answer

A roofed deck on the same foundation, and the module that gives the sauna door somewhere to lock to

The Nordic Misty Terrace is an open-sided module: a timber deck with the same black frame, the same depth and the same roofline as the sauna beside it. It is the cheapest way to add covered outdoor space to a Nordic Misty row, and it carries the latch receiver that lets the sauna door lock as required.

Two footprints

59 or 87 in wide

Both are 91 inches deep and 100 high, matching the sauna module exactly.

Weight

606 or 826 lb

Shipping weights. Far lighter than an enclosed module, which changes what you need to offload it.

Module class

Size S or M

The Small is a Size S for foundation sizing, the Medium a Size M — the same class as the sauna.

What it is

Open on the sides, roofed overhead, thermo-treated softwood underfoot

Nordic Misty Terrace in use, decked area sheltered by the black frame
Open-sided, roofed, and the same depth and height as the sauna it joins.

Kirami builds the Nordic Misty range as modules that stand side by side on one base and bolt into a single building. The Terrace is the open one. It has the black frame and roof of its neighbours but no walls, so it reads as a covered porch rather than a room, and the deck inside it is thermo-treated softwood.

That surface is maintained differently from the enclosed modules. Kirami's guidance for a Terrace is water-based wood oil if you want to hold the tone, whereas the Lounge and Changing Room interiors are hardwood and take paraffin oil. Like every exterior timber in the range, it will take a grey tint in about a year depending on sun exposure, and that is not a warranty matter.

A Terrace next to the sauna also does a job nothing else does. The sauna door locks with a latch, and that latch needs something to engage. When a Terrace is installed alongside, a latch receiver is fitted inside the vertical beam, 15 mm from the edge and level with the sauna door handle, so the sauna can be locked in accordance with regulations. Kirami's instruction is that the modules are locked when not in use, because a door left free in a storm is how these buildings get damaged.

Small or medium

The choice is a foundation decision as much as a space decision

The Small Terrace is 59 inches wide and classed Size S — the same foundation class as a Changing Room. The Medium is 87 inches wide and classed Size M, the same as the sauna and the Lounge. Both are 91 inches deep and 100 inches high.

Because Kirami publishes foundation dimensions by module class rather than by product, picking Small or Medium changes the slab before it changes anything else. Decide the whole row first, size the base for it, and then order. There is no door hand and no entrance count to choose here: the Terrace is open.

One detail that catches people out. When modules are joined, cover boards are normally removed from the door edges — but the manual says not to remove those boards when a Terrace is the module being attached, and conversely to do remove the drip edge at the bottom of the door, which you would otherwise leave. The Terrace is the exception to both rules, and it also ships with support boards on its sides for transport that have to come off before installation.

How it fixes to the sauna

The only module that is fixed through a vertical beam

Kirami documents four connection methods across the range. The Terrace is the one that uses the fourth.

  • Transport brackets. Modules lifted side by side with back walls flush, a filler piece between the brackets front and back, skirting boards over the filler on both modules.
  • Roof sheets. A U-profile sheet between the modules with five screws a side; the next eave flashing laps about 10 cm over the previous one with a silicone seam between them.
  • From the vertical beam. Used only in Terrace modules. Three screws run from the vertical post into the adjacent module through pre-drilled holes, and the holes are then covered with plugs.

Cover boards, the third method, apply where two modules with door openings meet. A Terrace has no door, so that step does not arise — what does arise instead is the latch receiver in the beam.

The base you build first

Never directly on the ground

Kirami's instruction is explicit. The recommended build is concrete slabs on a hard surface to lift the modules clear, with bitumen roofing felt across the full width of each slab, and a durable grid over the slabs to bring the row level. Modules can go straight onto slabs, but then getting them level is entirely your responsibility and an out-of-level row will not join cleanly. Screw piles are the alternative; the right model depends on soil type and frost depth, and the manual says to take professional advice on choosing one.

If you are insulating the base, the guidance is at least 5 to 10 cm of ground frost insulation under the gravel. Keep tall grass clear of the lower boards — the manual names it as a contributor to rot because it stops the wood breathing.

Size the base for the finished row, using Kirami's own table. Size S is a Changing Room or a Small Terrace; Size M is the sauna, the Lounge or a Medium Terrace.

M + S 143.5 x 85.8 in (3,644 x 2,180 mm)
M + M 172.0 x 85.8 in (4,370 x 2,180 mm)
M + S + S 202.2 x 85.8 in (5,136 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + S 230.8 x 85.8 in (5,862 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + M 259.4 x 85.8 in (6,588 x 2,180 mm)
M + S + S + M 289.5 x 85.8 in (7,354 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + S + M 318.1 x 85.8 in (8,080 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + M + M 346.7 x 85.8 in (8,806 x 2,180 mm)

Prepare drainage before you build: the sauna module arrives with its own drain fitted. And leave access for maintenance, because indirect costs such as demolishing and rebuilding a terrace are excluded from the warranty.

Buyer questions

What people ask before ordering a Terrace

Terrace or Changing Room?

The Terrace is open and roofed; the Changing Room is enclosed and locks. The Terrace costs less, weighs a third as much and takes a smaller slab in its Small size. If you want somewhere to leave clothes and valuables, or you are in a cold climate, you want the enclosed module. If you want shade and shelter over the door, the Terrace is the right answer.

Can I have both?

Yes, and Kirami's foundation table assumes you might: it publishes slab sizes for rows of up to five modules, including combinations with two Size S modules between two Size M ones. Plan the row before you pour.

Does the Terrace come with furniture?

No. The loungers, tubs and tables in the photographs are styling. The module is the frame, the roof and the deck.

Do I need the Terrace for the sauna door to lock?

Not necessarily, but if you do install a Terrace beside the sauna then a latch receiver must be fitted inside the vertical beam, 15 mm from the edge and level with the sauna door handle, so the sauna can be locked. That step is in the module manual and your installer should know about it before the day.

What is the lead time?

About 12 weeks. Made to order in Finland and shipped to the US, which is why we take these as preorders rather than showing stock we do not have.

How is it delivered?

606 lb for the Small and 826 lb for the Medium on the truck. ThermaSol notifies customers two weeks before the scheduled pickup. A forklift is recommended — forks at least two metres long, in under the front, never from the side — or three to four people offloading piece by piece, typically in 30 to 60 minutes. Once delivery is made and offloading has begun the carrier is no longer responsible, so inspect before anything comes off.

What is the warranty?

One year from ThermaSol, from substantial project completion. Kirami's own warranty in Europe is 24 months, and six months for commercial use, but your contract as a US buyer is with ThermaSol and their term applies. Colour change, moisture movement, cracking, normal wear and frost damage are excluded under Kirami's terms.

Will the deck go grey?

Yes, in roughly a year depending on sun exposure. That is what outdoor timber does and it is not a defect. Kirami's guidance is water-based wood oil on the Terrace deck if you want to hold the original tone.
