How does delivery work?

Freight, quoted for your address. These are crated units of roughly 1,300 to 4,800 pounds going to residential addresses, so there is no flat rate. Send us your postcode before you order and we will come back with a real figure.

The outdoor cabins arrive fully assembled. All eight travel as one piece, so there is no build on your weekend, but a forklift or crane has to reach the pad. Measure the gate, the side return and anything overhead first.

The indoor cabins arrive in panels. The Lumaria, Aalto and Astra are built in place by two to four people. What matters is the route in, not the room itself.

Delivery is curbside and someone has to be there. The carrier calls to book a window and brings it to the kerb or driveway. Moving it onto the pad is yours to arrange.

Inspect before you sign. Note any damage on the delivery paperwork while the driver is there, photograph everything, and tell us within 48 hours. Refuse a structurally damaged crate and call us.

Lead times. Twelve weeks on every outdoor cabin, four to eight on the three indoor models, built to order from the day you order.

What does the warranty cover?

Two warranties, not one. ThermaSol covers the sauna room and Harvia covers the heater inside it. They differ in length and they are claimed in different places.

The sauna room: 1 year. From substantial project completion, covering defective workmanship and materials such as mis-cuts, rough lumber or knot loss.

The heater, control and power box: 5 years residential. One year in a commercial setting. Stones and heating elements carry one year either way.

Two conditions decide most claims. The room must be registered within 15 days of purchase, and installed by a certified electrician or qualified service representative.

Commercial use voids it. ThermaSol excludes residential units used in any non-residential setting, naming hotels, spas, gyms, health clubs and short-term rentals. Tell us before you order and we will quote a range that is warranted for it.

Who you call. Cabin claims go through ThermaSol and we start them for you. Harvia heaters are serviced by Harvia US directly, which is a separate route.

What if I need to return it?

30 days from delivery. Cancelling before it ships costs nothing at all, and on a twelve week cabin there is usually room to change your mind.

Condition required. As new, unused, unassembled and in its original packaging with every component. Once a unit has been sited, connected or assembled it is no longer returnable.

Get an authorisation first. Contact us with your order number, we raise it with ThermaSol, and you ship within 14 days with the authorisation number written on the crate.

What a return costs. A restocking fee of up to 5% may apply and you pay the return freight, which is substantial on a crated sauna. We do not deduct the original outbound shipping. Ask us for an estimate before you commit.

Damaged on arrival is a freight claim, not a return. Note it on the paperwork while the driver is present, photograph it before anything moves, and tell us within 48 hours. Handled that way it costs you nothing.

Refunds. To the original payment method once the unit is received and inspected, normally within 5 to 10 business days.

The short answer

A heated sauna needs somewhere to sit afterwards. That is what the Lounge is for

The Nordic Misty Lounge is a glazed room that bolts to the side of a Nordic Misty sauna and shares its roofline. It is not a sauna and it has no heater. It is the room where people cool down, talk and put their shoes back on, and it is the single thing that turns a sauna cabin into somewhere you spend an evening.

Two footprints

84 or 174 in wide

Both are 91 inches deep and 101 high. The Medium matches the sauna's own module width; the XL is a double-length room.

The room

4.1 or 8.7 sq m

44 and 94 square feet. The XL is the only module in the Annex range that is two bays long.

No circuit of its own

No heater

ThermaSol publishes no electrical requirement for the Lounge. Every connection detail in the module manual is mechanical.

What a Lounge actually is

A finished room on the same foundation, not a porch bolted on afterwards

Inside the Nordic Misty Lounge, cedar walls and ceiling with a sofa and low table
ThermaSol ships the Lounge empty. The furniture in the renders is styling.

Kirami builds the Nordic Misty range in Sastamala, Finland, as a row of modules that stand side by side on one base and are joined into a single building. The sauna is one module. The Lounge is another, the Changing Room a third, the Terrace a fourth. They are the same depth and the same height, they carry the same black heat-treated cladding, and the roof sheets run across the joint so the finished row reads as one roofline rather than as a cabin with extensions.

The Lounge is the enclosed, glazed one. Where the sauna has a small window and a bench, the Lounge has full-height glass on the long side and an open floor. ThermaSol supplies it empty: the furniture in the photographs is not part of the order.

Two things follow from that, and they matter before you buy. The first is that a Lounge only makes sense next to a sauna module, because it shares that building's foundation, roof line and front face. The second is that the order in which you buy them changes the work. If the sauna and the Lounge are ordered together, Kirami pre-completes the joining preparation at the factory. If the Lounge comes later, that preparation is a job on site: the module manual lists five things to undo first, including removing the door latch receiver, the cover boards on the edges to be joined, the drip edge under the door and the side flashings.

Medium or XL, and how many doors

Three choices, and only one of them is reversible after delivery

The Lounge is configured on three axes, and the combination you pick is built into the panel before it ships.

Size. Medium is one bay, 84 inches wide. XL is two, 174 inches wide, with a 4.1 to 8.7 square metre jump in floor area and roughly 1,900 lb of extra assembled weight. The foundation table in the manual treats the Lounge as a Size M module, the same class as the sauna itself, so an XL occupies two Size M positions in a row.

Entrances. One entrance means one opening in the long face. Two entrances means the Lounge is open on both sides, which is what you want if it sits in the middle of a row with a sauna on one side and a changing room or terrace on the other. A one-entrance Lounge at the end of a row is a dead end by design.

Door hand. Left or right, and on the XL two-entrance version there is a two-door option as well. This is the choice people get wrong. Stand where the sauna will be, face the Lounge, and decide which way the door should swing so it does not foul the sauna door or the path off the terrace. The hinge side is factory-set.

One more thing the manual is explicit about: the Lounge door takes a keyhole lock, not the latch the sauna door uses. The latch-type lock is for the sauna only. Kirami's instruction is that the modules are locked when not in use, because an unlatched door in a storm is how these buildings get damaged.

How it is built

Heat-treated softwood outside, hardwood inside, and both will change colour

ThermaSol Nordic Misty Lounge module, three-quarter studio view, charred black cladding with a cedar-lined interior and full-height glazing
Heat-treated softwood in a deep black finish, over a hardwood interior.

The outer shell is a heat-treated softwood panel in a deep black finish. Heat treatment is what gives it rot resistance and what keeps the boards from moving as much as untreated softwood when the weather turns; the paint on top is there for dirt and UV. Kirami treats the modules with a water-based industrial wood oil during manufacture, and tells owners to go to a local paint store for a matching product when the colour needs refreshing.

The interior surfaces of the Lounge and the Changing Room are hardwood, and they can be oiled with paraffin oil. Kirami's guidance is that bench surfaces are re-treated roughly once a year depending on use. That is maintenance, not a defect.

Be clear-eyed about one thing. Kirami states plainly that wooden materials normally take on a grey tint in roughly a year, depending on sun exposure, and that resin can weep from knots and splinters can lift. None of that is covered by the warranty, because none of it is a manufacturing fault — it is what wood does outdoors. The black finish slows it. It does not stop it.

What we will not tell you is how the Lounge is insulated, because nobody publishes it. Kirami publishes 30 mm aluminium-backed urethane for the sauna module's walls and ceiling. It publishes no insulation specification for the Lounge, and we are not going to assume the sauna's build carries across to a glazed room with a different job.

The base you have to build first

The foundation is your work, it is sized by the whole row, and it is the one thing you cannot fix later

Kirami's instruction is blunt: never place the modules directly on the ground. The recommended build is concrete slabs laid on a hard surface to lift the modules clear, with bitumen roofing felt over the full width of each slab, and then a durable grid on top of the slabs to bring everything level. Modules can sit straight on slabs instead, but then levelling is entirely on you, and a row that is not level will not join cleanly.

Screw piles are the alternative. Kirami does not name a model, because the right one depends on soil type and frost depth — the manual says to install them yourself if you wish but to ask a professional which model suits your ground.

If you are insulating the base, the recommendation is at least 5 to 10 cm of ground frost insulation under the gravel, which cuts the thermal bridge to the cold ground. And keep the surroundings clear: tall grass against the lower boards stops the wood breathing and is named in the manual as a contributor to rot.

Size the slab for the finished row, not for the Lounge. These are the combinations Kirami publishes, converted from the manual's millimetres. Size S is a Changing Room or a Small Terrace; Size M is the sauna, the Lounge or a Medium Terrace.

M + S 143.5 x 85.8 in (3,644 x 2,180 mm)
M + M 172.0 x 85.8 in (4,370 x 2,180 mm)
M + S + S 202.2 x 85.8 in (5,136 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + S 230.8 x 85.8 in (5,862 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + M 259.4 x 85.8 in (6,588 x 2,180 mm)
M + S + S + M 289.5 x 85.8 in (7,354 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + S + M 318.1 x 85.8 in (8,080 x 2,180 mm)
M + M + M + M 346.7 x 85.8 in (8,806 x 2,180 mm)
M + S + S + M + M 379.4 x 85.8 in (9,638 x 2,180 mm)

Two practical notes from the same pages. Prepare for drainage before you pour, because the sauna arrives with its own drain already fitted and the water has to go somewhere. And leave yourself access for maintenance: the warranty explicitly excludes indirect costs such as demolishing and rebuilding a terrace to get at a module.

Joining it to the sauna

Four connection methods, and the Lounge uses three of them

Kirami documents four ways modules are fixed together. Three apply to a Lounge.

  • Transport brackets. The modules are lifted side by side with their back walls flush, a filler piece goes between the transport brackets front and back with two screws a side, and skirting boards then cover the filler on both modules.
  • Roof sheets. A U-profile sheet goes between the modules with five screws a side. The next module's eave flashing laps about 10 cm over the previous one, with a silicone seam between the flashings, and the bend in the front eave flashing sits between the side flashing and the side wall.
  • Cover boards. Used wherever two modules with door openings meet — which is exactly what a Lounge beside a sauna is. A threshold plate goes in first, then a short cover board across the head of the opening and long boards down the sides, each set flush with the module's inner wall, and finally cover strips hide the gap: 35 mm on the window side, 43 mm on the back wall side.

The fourth method, fixing through a vertical beam, is used only by Terrace modules.

This is competent carpentry with pre-drilled holes, not a kit of parts for a first-time builder. If you are not doing it yourself, get the installer to read these pages before you book the delivery date, not after.

Delivery and offloading

A Medium Lounge weighs 2,315 lb on the truck, and offloading is yours from the moment it starts

Nordic Misty Lounge on a timber deck with outdoor seating and planting
A Medium Lounge weighs 2,315 lb on the truck. Offloading is the buyer's responsibility.

Shipping weights are 2,315 lb for the Medium and 4,189 lb for the XL; assembled, 2,094 and 3,968 lb. ThermaSol notifies customers two weeks before the scheduled pickup so there is time to arrange equipment.

A forklift is the recommended method, and the manual is specific about how: forks at least two metres long, driven in under the front of the module, never from the side, and aligned with the marks on the wall that carries the lifting sign. If you are using crane slings, they run front to back — slings set side to side will damage the building. The alternative ThermaSol names is offloading piece by piece with three or four people, typically in 30 to 60 minutes, and says many customers choose it.

The sentence to read twice is this one: once the product is delivered and offloading has begun, the carrier is no longer responsible. Inspect before you sign and before anything comes off the truck. Our own freight guidance on refusing and noting damage applies here in full.

Leave the transport protection on. The film, plywood, boards and protective metal sheets come off only after the module is down and you are connecting it in its final position. A supplied stain covers the screw holes left behind.

Buyer questions

What people ask before ordering a Lounge

Can I buy the Lounge on its own, without a sauna?

You can order it, but it is designed to join a Nordic Misty sauna module and share its foundation, roof line and front face. On its own it is a glazed garden room with no heater and no services. If that is what you want, say so when you call and we will go through the foundation and the flashing detail with you, because a Lounge that will never be joined still needs the same base.

Does it come with the furniture in the photographs?

No. The sofa, table, rugs and throws in ThermaSol's renders are styling. The Lounge ships as a finished empty room.

Is it insulated and heated?

There is no heater and no heating circuit. Kirami publishes an insulation specification for the sauna module, not for the Lounge, so we do not state one. Treat it as a three-season room unless your installer tells you otherwise after seeing it.

What is the lead time?

About 12 weeks. These are made to order in Finland and shipped to the US, which is why we take them as preorders rather than showing stock we do not have.

What is the warranty?

One year from ThermaSol, from substantial project completion. Kirami's own warranty in Europe is 24 months on materials and manufacturing defects, and six months for commercial use, but your contract as a US buyer is with ThermaSol and their term is the one that applies. Colour change, moisture movement, cracking, normal wear, frost damage and condensation on the glazing are all excluded by Kirami's terms, and attempting your own repair voids the warranty.

Can I add a Lounge to a sauna I already own?

Yes, and the module manual has a dedicated list for it. When modules are ordered together the joining preparation is done at the factory; when one arrives later, the latch receiver, the cover boards on the joining edges, the door drip edge, the skirting boards and the side flashings all have to be removed on site first. Budget installation time accordingly.

Do I need a permit?

That depends entirely on your jurisdiction, the finished footprint and whether you are running power to it. We cannot answer it for you and we will not pretend to. Ask your local building department before you order, because the foundation goes in before the delivery date.

Which door hand should I choose?

Stand where the sauna will be, look at the Lounge, and pick the hand that keeps the door clear of the sauna door and of the route off the terrace. It is set at the factory and it is not changed afterwards. If you send us a sketch of the row you want, we will check it with you before the order goes in.
