Shipping & Delivery

Your LeisureCraft sauna, plunge tub, hot tub or outdoor shower is handcrafted to order in Melancthon, Ontario and ships by insured LTL freight. Freight and all cross-border charges are included in the price — no separate shipping cost, no customs bill at the door.

Build time, not ship time. Every unit is made to order, so each product page shows an estimated build date rather than a delivery date. Transit is additional, and build dates move with production volume — peak season runs February through May. We confirm your date in writing once your order is placed.

What the carrier does. The freight company calls to schedule an appointment and delivers to the end of your driveway or the curb, usually on an 18-wheel truck. The driver will not unload your crate and will not back into your driveway. Check that a truck that size can reach your property before you order.

CRITICAL — you are responsible for unloading. Crates run 6 to 14 feet long and 800 to 1,600 pounds depending on the model, with the largest builds heavier still. If your crate is 84 inches or shorter, the carrier may have a liftgate to help lower it. Longer than that there is no liftgate, which covers most of the barrel and cabin range. You will need a forklift with extensions (crates lift from the end), a trailer to collect from the terminal, or a crew on hand. We can arrange a tilt-tow truck for $1,250 if you would rather not. Plan this before you order and we will work it out with you.

Inspect before you sign. If the crate arrives damaged, accept it, photograph everything before moving it, and write "Crate arrived open/damaged — Possible Hidden Damage" on the Bill of Lading. Then call us within 72 hours. A clean signature releases the carrier and makes a claim nearly impossible to win.

Good to know. Changing your shipping address after the unit leaves the factory costs $350 — free before it ships, so tell us early. If a delivery appointment stalls because calls go unreturned, the terminal charges $35 per day in storage. Both are manufacturer charges passed through at cost. Heaters and accessories ship separately and usually arrive sooner.

Questions before you order? Call or text (888) 500-5675, Mon–Sat 9am–6pm EST. We coordinate every delivery ourselves.

Included freight applies to standard residential curbside delivery in the contiguous 48 states. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada require a quote before ordering. Build and transit times are estimates, not guarantees. Applies to the LeisureCraft Canadian Timber Collection. View our full Shipping & Delivery policy →

Warranty

All products designed and manufactured by Dundalk LeisureCraft — including the Canadian Timber Collection — are covered against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use for 5 years from the day you receive the product.

What's covered. Replacement of defective parts. Service, labor and installation costs are expressly excluded by the manufacturer, and a replacement part does not extend the original 5-year period.

What's not. Normal wear and tear, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, natural weather conditions, and failure to follow the installation and care instructions.

Heaters, stoves and chillers. These sit on LeisureCraft's separate component schedule, and LeisureCraft honors the component manufacturer's terms directly — same coverage, same duration. Electric heaters carry 3 years (elements and rocks excluded; HUUM also excludes sensors). Wood-burning stoves run 2 years to 5 years, with LeisureCraft's own Timberglow at 5, excluding the glass door, ash grate and rocks; LeisureCraft chimney kits carry 5 years with no exclusions. Chillers carry 1 to 2 years. Component coverage is parts only. We confirm the exact term for your configuration in writing before you order.

Use a licensed electrician. All electrical connections on heaters and chillers must be made by a licensed electrician, or LeisureCraft voids the component warranty. Improper installation is excluded from the 5-year sauna warranty as well.

If you've seen a 3-year figure. Some older listings and in-box manuals still show 3 years for the Canadian Timber Collection. LeisureCraft's current published policy is 5 years, and that's the coverage we confirm in writing with every order.

Residential use, and registration. The 5-year term is written for normal residential use; LeisureCraft publishes no commercial warranty. Buying for a gym, clinic, spa, hotel or rental? Call us first and we'll get the factory's position in writing. We send the manufacturer's registration link with your order confirmation — registering keeps future claims straightforward.

How to make a claim. Contact us — as your authorized dealer we handle the claim with the manufacturer for you. Email sales@recoveryroomdirect.com or call (888) 500-5675 with your order number and photos of the issue.

Return Policy

LeisureCraft Canadian Timber products are handcrafted for your specific order in Melancthon, Ontario. Because each unit is built to order, the manufacturer does not accept returns or exchanges — so please call us before you buy if anything is unclear. We would far rather answer questions first than have you end up with the wrong sauna.

Cancellations. Production is scheduled as soon as your order is placed. Contact us as early as you can at (888) 500-5675 — if your build hasn't started we'll do everything we can to cancel at no cost. If it has, we'll tell you plainly where you stand.

Damaged on arrival? You're covered. Transit damage is handled by replacement, not return. Accept the shipment, photograph the damage before moving anything, and write "Crate arrived open/damaged — Possible Hidden Damage" on the Bill of Lading before signing. Call us within 72 hours and the manufacturer ships replacement wood or components at no charge. Damage reported after a clean signature is very difficult to claim — this step is what protects you.

Five-year residential warranty. Products manufactured by LeisureCraft carry a limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use for five years from the day you receive them. Valid claims are resolved with replacement parts at no charge.

What it doesn't cover. The warranty is parts only — service, labour and installation are expressly excluded, and a replaced part doesn't restart the five years. It excludes normal wear and tear, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, weather damage, and failure to follow the care instructions. Cedar is a natural material: seasonal movement and colour change to silver-grey are normal and are not defects.

Two exceptions worth knowing. The warranty is written for residential use — if you're buying for a gym, clinic, spa or rental property, call us first so we can confirm your coverage in writing. And sauna heaters are not LeisureCraft-made: Harvia, HUUM and Narvi units carry their own manufacturer warranties, and we'll point you to the right terms.

Warranty begins on the date the product is received by the original end-user. Register your warranty with the manufacturer to keep future claims straightforward — we'll send the link with your order confirmation. We're here Mon–Sat, 9am–6pm EST. View our full Return Policy →

Canadian Timber Collection

The Baltic is the cold plunge for people who want a cedar barrel beside the sauna, not a project in the yard

An upright barrel, 37.5 inches across and 43.75 tall: a molded HDPE liner inside 5/8 inch Eastern White Cedar, two stainless bands outside, 132 gallons. You sit upright on a molded seat, 12 inches up in a 40.75 inch liner, rather than lying down, which is why it takes less ground than any other LeisureCraft plunge.

It arrives assembled on a skid, 108 lb; the only assembly is the drain valve. Run it on ice, or choose the Penguin or Coldture Pro chiller at the top of this page and a chiller holds the temperature for you. Built in Melancthon, Ontario.

Free freight to the contiguous 48 states. Monthly financing available.

Where the Baltic earns its place as a cedar barrel cold plunge, and what it is not

New to cold water? Our cold plunge collection shows the shapes on offer; our contrast therapy protocol covers pairing it with a sauna.

An upright barrel is the most economical way to put a person in cold water to the shoulders. Because you sit, the tub is tall rather than long: 40.75 inches of interior height on a 32 inch interior diameter, on a 37.5 inch circle. A lie-flat tub of similar capacity needs six feet of ground. That is the whole argument for the shape, and the Baltic is LeisureCraft's version of it: an HDPE liner with a molded seat, wrapped in Eastern White Cedar, held with two stainless bands, the least expensive of the three LeisureCraft plunges and the lightest to move.

What it is not: it is not a tub you lie down in, and it does not hide its chiller. To stretch out with the water over your legs, the Polar Plunge Tub is 71 inches long and holds 190 gallons. For a stainless tub with the chiller closed inside the cedar shell, that is The Flow Cold Plunge. For a stainless barrel with filtration built into the tub itself, the DCT Pacific Cedar Barrel is 135 gallons with an ozone filter system in the price.

  • Upright cedar barrel, 37.5 inches across, 43.75 inches tall by LeisureCraft's exterior height, shipped on a 3 inch skid
  • 132 gallons (501 liters) in an HDPE liner, 32 inches across inside
  • A molded seat inside the liner, 12 inches high and 11.25 inches wide
  • Runs on ice, or on the Penguin or Coldture Pro chiller

Open, on white: the HDPE liner and its 3/4 inch top ring sitting proud of the cedar; the molded seat runs along one side inside.

A 132 gallon cedar barrel cold plunge with an HDPE liner and stainless bands, shipped assembled, run on ice or a chiller

The vessel is the liner, not the wood. LeisureCraft's drawing gives the HDPE at 3/4 inch across the top ring, seat and floor and 1/4 inch on the walls, the seat molded in as a crescent along one side. The cedar stands outside the liner, 5/8 inch thick, held by two 3/4 inch stainless bands. The wood carries no water, and LeisureCraft states that every shell is tested for leaks before it ships.

It ships as one piece on a skid, and the only work is the drain: a 90 degree elbow, a 3/4 inch ball valve and two nipples that thread into the 3/4 inch NPT opening in the floor, thread tape supplied. LeisureCraft's own line: the only assembly required is the drain hardware.

How it is kept cold is your decision: add ice as needed, or plumb in a chiller, Penguin or Coldture Pro. The Flow takes only the Penguin, and hides it; the Baltic takes either, and it stands beside the barrel where you can reach it.

Eastern White Cedar, and what you are paying for in a Canadian Timber cold plunge

The Baltic is skirted in Eastern White Cedar, the wood that gives the Canadian Timber collection its name, and LeisureCraft says so in as many words. It is lighter in color than Western Red Cedar, with the same natural resistance to moisture, rot and insects.

5/8 inch cedar skirting

Vertical Eastern White Cedar boards, 5/8 inch thick per LeisureCraft's drawing: a skin over a plastic vessel, which is why the barrel weighs 108 lb.

Two stainless bands

3/4 inch wide, .030 inch stainless, one under the rim and one near the base, each with its own clamp. LeisureCraft does not publish the steel grade of the bands, so we do not.

The HDPE liner and its seat

3/4 inch on the top ring, seat and floor, 1/4 inch on the walls, the seat molded in rather than dropped in. HDPE does not rust, and it is why the Baltic can be the least expensive of the three.

Cedar from certified sustainable mills in British Columbia and Ontario, and covered by LeisureCraft's 5 year residential limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship: parts only, the chillers on LeisureCraft's component schedule, 1 year for the Penguin and 2 years for the Coldture Pro.

Chilling the Baltic: ice, or a chiller

LeisureCraft's own line is that the Baltic can be used with its electric chiller or you can keep the water cold by adding ice as needed. Ice is the cheaper start and the more work; a chiller holds a set temperature without you. Two are offered at the top of this page:

  • Penguin Cold Therapy Chiller with Filter Kit: 3/4 HP, 7,500 BTU/hr, cools to 37 F, 56 dBA; 110 to 120 V, 450 W, 3.9 A, GFCI-protected cord; 49 lb, built-in pump and filter kit; rain proof, drained in freezing weather
  • Coldture Water Chiller Pro with Fittings: cools to 37 F and heats to 105 F, Wi-Fi temperature control, step filtration, self-priming pump, safety shutoff, indoor and outdoor use to 14 F
  • No chiller: fill it, add ice, decide later. The drain and chiller openings are 3/4 inch NPT

Why we still ask you to call

The chiller, cover and steps are all priced at the top of this page, so nothing waits on a quote. The call is where we check your choice against your site: an outdoor outlet within reach, where the chiller will stand, where 132 gallons drains to, how cold your winters get. LeisureCraft accepts no returns, so five minutes on (888) 500-5675 before you choose is the cheapest insurance on the page.

Freezing weather and power. LeisureCraft's instruction: at 32 F and colder, drain the chiller and store it somewhere temperature controlled, or keep it running so the water in it cannot freeze and damage the unit; the Penguin does not heat, so with the Penguin that means draining it. Shade the chiller from sun and rain. An outdoor outlet should be GFCI protected, and all electrical connections must be made by a licensed electrician or LeisureCraft's warranty is void. Penguin's placement rule: within 3 feet of the tub drain, no higher than the bottom of the tub.

What a week with the Baltic actually looks like

The sessions

The tub is filled once and stays filled. On a chiller the water is at temperature when you walk out to it, which is the difference between a plunge you use and one you meant to use; on ice you plan ahead and buy the bag. Either way: climb the steps, sit, a few minutes, climb out.

Sauna and cold water

LeisureCraft describes the Baltic as completing the saunas in the Canadian Timber collection, and that is how LeisureCraft frames it: a round in the sauna, then the tub, then back. Our contrast therapy protocol sets out the timings people actually use, and the Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas we carry are the ones it was drawn to stand beside.

Winter

LeisureCraft's freeze guidance is about the chiller: below 32 F, drain it and bring it in, or keep the Coldture Pro running so the water in it cannot freeze. For the tub, LeisureCraft publishes only that it is designed for outdoor use and that the cover is recommended; if you will not use it through a hard freeze, open the ball valve, and if you will, keep the cover on.

Three people who choose the Baltic over the other two

The one adding cold water beside a barrel sauna

You have, or are ordering, a Canadian Timber sauna, and the plunge has to fit the deck that is there. The Baltic stands on a 37.5 inch circle; if your space is a corner rather than a strip, this is the tub that fits it.

The one who wants to sit upright, not lie down

An upright barrel has you sitting on a molded seat, on a fraction of the ground a long tub needs. If you would rather stretch out, stop here: the Polar is 71 inches long with angled sides, and that is the one to buy.

The one starting on ice and deciding on a chiller later

The Baltic is the least expensive of the three LeisureCraft plunges we carry and it runs on ice out of the skid; the chiller connects at its own 3/4 inch NPT opening. If you want a chiller you never see, closed inside the cedar, that is The Flow.

LeisureCraft publishes no water depth or fill line for the Baltic, and no dry weight off the skid, so neither is on this page. Read the interior height and the seat height together: 40.75 inches of liner, seat at 12.

The honest column note: the Baltic is the smallest footprint and the lowest price; the Flow is the stainless tub with the chiller closed inside its shell; the Polar is the most water and the only one with a choice of liner. Baltic or Polar is posture, a seat on a 37.5 inch circle against 58 more gallons lying down on six feet. Baltic or Flow is money and where the chiller lives.

All three are outdoor cold plunges; if a chiller is in the order, see our cold plunges with chillers.

What the Baltic Plunge Tub costs to use, once it is in the yard

We will not invent a cost per session, because we do not know what you paid, ice or chiller, or how often you will use it. What we can give you is the denominator.

Divide your delivered price by 780 and you have your real cost per session. What recurs is what keeps the water cold, ice or the chiller's draw at your utility rate. LeisureCraft states the Penguin's draw at 450 W and publishes no figure for the Coldture Pro, so we do not.

What you are not paying for separately

Setting up the Baltic

LeisureCraft's installation instructions run seven pages. Tools: an adjustable wrench, a pipe wrench and the thread tape in the box. Put the tub where it will live, tip it onto its side on a blanket, wrap three layers of tape on the short nipple and thread it into the drain hole, add the elbow facing the back of the tub, the 5 inch nipple, and the ball valve, then the garden-hose adapter, once we have confirmed it is on your order. Stand it up, level it, fill it. A chiller's hook-up follows the chiller's own instructions.

The installation instructions are published by Dundalk LeisureCraft, seven pages, illustrated step by step. Ask us for a copy before you order and we will send it.

Baltic Plunge Tub delivery, and what to have ready

Freight included

Freight and all cross-border charges are already in the price, curbside to the contiguous 48 states. The tub ships assembled on a skid at 108 lb; LeisureCraft publishes no crate dimensions, but the tub is 43.75 inches tall and 37.5 across, inside the 84 inch liftgate threshold in our LeisureCraft shipping policy. Two people walk it into place.

Built to order

Nothing is stocked. Your Baltic joins the production queue in Melancthon once your order is placed, and we confirm the build and ship window in writing as soon as the factory schedules it. If the date does not work, say so straight away.

What it sits on

132 gallons is about 1,100 lb of water at 8.34 lb a gallon, on a 108 lb tub, so call it 1,200 lb on a 24 inch base under a 37.5 inch barrel. It needs a level pad that carries that without settling: concrete, pavers on a compacted base, or a deck checked for the load. Level matters; water finds the low side of the rim.

Inspect before you sign

Photograph any damage and write it on the Bill of Lading before you sign, then call us within 72 hours. A clean signature makes a freight claim hard to win.

Before the truck comes

  • A level, load-bearing pad at least 37.5 inches across, with room for the steps and chiller
  • A garden hose that reaches, and somewhere for 132 gallons to drain
  • An outdoor 110 to 120 V GFCI outlet within reach of the chiller, if you chose one
  • Two people on delivery day

A few situations add cost, such as an address change after the tub ships or terminal storage if a delivery appointment stalls; all are listed on our LeisureCraft shipping policy. Because each tub is built for your order, LeisureCraft accepts no returns or exchanges at any point; read our return policy before ordering.

Care once it is up

LeisureCraft has not published plunge-specific care text, so this is what the installation instructions support and nothing more. To change the water, open the ball valve, drain, close, refill. With a chiller, its filter does the day-to-day work on its own manual's schedule; on ice, the skimmer keeps leaves off the surface. Keep the cover on when the tub is not in use, as LeisureCraft recommends.

Before you get in. Cold water is a load on the heart and the breathing. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, circulatory problems, a seizure disorder or any condition under medical care, speak to your doctor first. Never plunge alone. Enter slowly, keep sessions short, and get out at the first sign of dizziness or numbness; long exposure can lead to hypothermia. Never use it after drinking alcohol, keep the cover on when it is not in use, and keep children away from it; like any open water it carries a risk of drowning.

The questions buyers actually ask about the Baltic

Ice or a chiller: which do I actually need?

LeisureCraft leaves it open. On ice the tub costs less and you do the work; a chiller holds a set temperature all week and filters the water. Two are offered at the top of this page: the Penguin, which cools only, and the Coldture Pro, which cools and heats. If unsure, start on ice; the tub is drilled for a chiller at the drain opening, and one can be added later.

How cold does it get, and how long does it take?

Both chillers are rated by LeisureCraft to cool the water to 37 F. Penguin rates its unit for an 80 to 120 gallon insulated tub; the Baltic holds 132 and is not described as insulated, so shade, cover and weather decide how close to 37 F you sit. LeisureCraft publishes no pull-down time; we will not invent one.

What happens to it in winter?

LeisureCraft's instruction is for the chiller: at 32 F and below, drain it and store it somewhere temperature controlled, or keep it running so the water inside cannot freeze; the Penguin does not heat, so with the Penguin you drain it. For the tub, LeisureCraft says it is designed for outdoor use and recommends the cover; if you are not using it through a hard freeze, empty it through the ball valve.

How often do I change the water, and how do I look after the liner?

LeisureCraft publishes no schedule; it depends on whether you run a chiller with a filter or ice alone. Changing it is the ball valve: open, drain, close, refill. The liner is smooth HDPE with the seat molded in; keep the cover on between sessions and skim what lands on the surface.

Will it fit through a gate, and how much room does it need?

The tub is 37.5 inches across and 43.75 tall, so a 36 inch gate is too narrow and 42 is fine. It weighs 108 lb, so two people can carry it. Allow the circle plus the steps and the chiller, on level ground.

Can I use it indoors?

LeisureCraft says the tubs and chillers are designed for outdoor use and publishes nothing about indoor installation, so we will not promise it. It is about 1,200 lb full, with a floor-level drain that has to run somewhere, and the chiller needs air around it. Call us before you plan an indoor room.

How many gallons does it hold? Some sites say 150.

132 gallons (501 liters), from LeisureCraft's own specification table for this model. Several dealer listings carry 150; LeisureCraft's table is the number we use. 132 gallons is about 1,100 lb of water.

What does the warranty actually cover?

LeisureCraft's 5 year residential limited warranty covers the tub against defects in materials and workmanship, parts only; service, labor and installation are excluded. The chiller is not under it: LeisureCraft's schedule lists the Penguin at 1 year and the Coldture Pro at 2 years, filters excluded. Full text on our LeisureCraft warranty policy page.

Can I pay for this over time?

Yes. Shop Pay Installments is available at checkout, and APPROVE offers financing on larger orders including business buyers. Terms depend on the amount financed and on approval, so the exact offer is the one presented to you rather than anything we can quote here.

What happens if I change my mind after ordering?

Every Baltic is built to your order, so LeisureCraft does not accept returns or exchanges at any point, and we would rather you knew before you ordered than after. If your build has not started we will do what we can to cancel at no cost, so call the moment anything changes; our LeisureCraft return policy has the detail.

How long from order to delivery?

Every Baltic is built to order, so it depends on the production queue, and that queue moves. LeisureCraft gives us an estimated build date the day we place your order, and we confirm your build and ship window in writing once the factory schedules it.

Is a cold plunge safe for me?

For most healthy adults, used sensibly, yes, but cold water genuinely loads the heart and the breathing, so this is a question for your doctor. Ask first if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, circulatory problems, a seizure disorder, or any condition under medical care. Never plunge alone, enter slowly, keep sessions short, and never use it after drinking alcohol.

Is the five year warranty valid in a gym, spa or rental?

The five year term is LeisureCraft's residential warranty. If the tub is going into a gym, spa, short-term rental or any commercial setting, call us before you order: commercial coverage is not the same thing and we will confirm the terms in writing. Penguin states its chiller is not intended for commercial applications.

Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized LeisureCraft dealer?

Yes. We buy directly from the manufacturer in Melancthon, Ontario, and send the warranty registration with your order confirmation. When something needs sorting out, we deal with the factory for you. Everything we carry from them is in the Dundalk LeisureCraft collection.

Not sure which cold plunge, the barrel you sit in or the tub you lie in?

It comes down to two questions: how much ground you can give it, and whether you want to sit or stretch out. Tell us those two answers and we will tell you which of the three LeisureCraft plunges is right, including when it is not this one.
