A vibration plate is meant to make an easy position hard. Power Plate builds the machines that do it: a platform moving under you up to fifty times a second, a frequency you set rather than guess at, and a session that is over in nine minutes.

Power Plate whole body vibration, made by Performance Health Systems
Power Plate is owned, manufactured and distributed by Performance Health Systems LLC of Northbrook, Illinois, whose name and address sit on the back of every sell sheet. The company traces the idea to the cosmonaut programs, where vibration was used to counter the effects of long stays in zero gravity, and built it into equipment you can stand on.
The range is deliberately tight: two tower machines for shared rooms plus a low profile pro platform, two towers sized for a house, two compact platforms you can move, and one vibrating exercise bike. Recovery Room Direct is an authorized dealer, so every machine ships free to the contiguous 48 states with Power Plate's published US limited warranty behind it, and returns run through us on a 30 day window.

The complete Power Plate lineup, series by series
Four groups, and the differences between them are mostly about who else is going to use the machine.
pro Series
Built for a room other people walk into
The widest frequency band Power Plate publishes and the highest user ratings in the range. The pro8 adds a touchscreen, proMOTION cables and a settings module a facility manager can lock. The pro5 keeps the tower with an LCD and a keypad, and the pro5HP puts the same platform into a machine 13 inches tall, for a room with no space for a column.
my Series
The tower, sized for a house
The same column and handrail in a smaller footprint. The my8 carries the pro8's touchscreen and program library and brings proMOTION handles in the box. The my5 runs a 5 inch screen with four quick start programs and a remote, and at 153 pounds it is the lightest tower here.
Compact platforms
No column, and you can move them
The MOVE is 9 inches tall and 85 pounds, with six fixed levels and a remote, in matte black, red, titanium or wood. The Personal is smaller again at 40.4 pounds and a fixed 35 Hz, and it is the one people slide under a bed between sessions.
REV
The one you sit on
The REV is not a plate. It is an upright exercise bike with vibration built into the drive, six resistance levels, an LED console that reads heart rate, RPM, speed, watts, distance, calories and resistance, and a display that runs on a rechargeable battery or the supplied power supply. It comes in matte black or a wood finish, in standard or extra height, and it is rated for a 330 pound rider.
The best Power Plate machines, staff picks
Four rooms, four answers. If one of these sounds like yours, start there. If you are still deciding where a plate fits beside the sauna or the plunge, our guide to building a recovery stack covers the order to buy in.

Power Plate pro8
The full machine: the widest band in the range, a touchscreen holding more than 250 programs, proMOTION cables for upper body work and a 500 pound user rating.
Best for: a health club, hotel gym or serious home gym where more than one person trains on it
View the pro8
Power Plate my8
The same touchscreen and program library as the pro8 in a smaller tower, 30 to 45 Hz, proMOTION handles included, and a 33 by 39 inch footprint that fits a spare room.
Best for: one household that wants the screen and the guided programs without the commercial frame
View the my8
Power Plate MOVE
Six levels across 30, 35 and 40 Hz with a low or high setting, a remote, 9 inches of standing height and 85 pounds, in black, red, titanium or wood.
Best for: a living room where the machine has to look like furniture and move out of the way
View the MOVE
Power Plate REV
Vibration built into a bike instead of a platform, six resistance levels, a console that tracks heart rate, watts and distance, and two frame heights.
Best for: anyone who would rather sit down to train, or who wants cardio and vibration in one footprint

Financing sits inside the normal checkout, not in a separate application. You see the term, the monthly figure and the rate before you confirm, checking does not affect your credit score, and some orders ask for a down payment. Terms and worked examples are on our financing page.
Vibration platforms are not named on published HSA or FSA eligibility lists, so reimbursement is never assured. Our HSA and FSA page explains what a plan administrator usually asks for.
What sets Power Plate apart from other vibration plates
Two of these you can check in a manual before you buy. The third is the manufacturer's own description of the movement, which is worth reading as exactly that.
Movement in three directions
Power Plate describes its platforms as moving in three planes at once, up and down, front to back and side to side, and calls that tri-planar movement. No figure is published for travel in each direction, so treat it as the manufacturer's description of the design rather than a number you can compare across brands.
A frequency you can read off the manual
Every platform publishes what it runs at: 25 to 50 Hz in single hertz steps on the pro machines, 30 to 45 on the my8, 30 to 40 on the my5, three fixed speeds on the MOVE and a fixed 35 Hz on the Personal. Amplitude is a low or high setting rather than a number you dial.
Rated for the person on it
Maximum user weight is printed per model: 500 pounds on the pro8 and pro5HP, 400 on the pro5, 350 on the my8, 300 on the my5 and MOVE, 264 on the Personal and 330 for a rider on the REV. It is the figure a listing without a manual behind it tends not to carry, and our guide to reading quality signals in recovery equipment covers the rest of that test.
The Power Plate range compared at a glance
Footprints are the machine as it stands, width by depth by height, from each model's own manual or sell sheet. Power Plate publishes no height for the REV.

Warranty is written as hardware / electronics / labor. The REV is warranted differently: two years on the frame and gearbox, one year on the display and six months on wear parts, and Power Plate does not define which parts it counts as wear parts. Full terms, and the return window, are set out in the questions below.
How long should a vibration plate session be?
You stand, kneel, sit or lean on a moving platform and hold a position you already know: a squat, a plank, a calf stretch, a push up with your hands on the plate. The platform moves underneath you many times per second, so the position you are holding stops being static. That is the mechanism, and it is why sessions are short. Power Plate's own manuals cap continuous running time at nine minutes, and most sessions are shorter than that: the pro5 counts down in 30, 45 and 60 second presets, the Personal in 30 or 60 seconds. The pro8's guided programs run 10 to 30 minutes, because they include the set up and the rest between exercises.
The frequency dial works differently from a speed dial on a treadmill, which is why the machines with screens organize the range for you. The pro8 and my8 group their programs as Feel Better, Look Better and Play Better, with single exercise elements labelled Stretch, Core, Balance, Strength and Massage, and the my5 carries Flexibility, Core, Strength and Massage as quick start programs. Whichever machine you end up with, the sensible first month is low frequency, the low amplitude setting and short sessions, then more of both once the positions feel steady.
Power Plate positions this equipment for fitness and exercise, and its manuals ask for healthy adults who are medically cleared for weight bearing exercise. Several of them, the pro8's among them, set the floor at 16 years old.
Who should ask a doctor first
Power Plate publishes a physician reviewed list. Ask your doctor before using a vibration plate if you:
- are pregnant
- have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device
- have cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure or a serious heart condition
- have had recent surgery, particularly a joint replacement or a spinal procedure
- have deep vein thrombosis, blood clots or a clotting disorder
No list covers every condition, so your own doctor decides.
Plate or bike: where the REV fits
The REV is the odd one out and it is worth understanding before you compare prices. It is an upright exercise bike with a belt drive and a vibration gearbox, so the movement reaches you through the pedals while you ride rather than through your feet while you stand. It has six resistance levels, an LED console that reads heart rate, RPM, speed, watts, distance and calories, and a display that runs on a rechargeable battery or an external power supply.
Two practical reasons people choose it over a platform. The first is that riding is a position most people can already hold for twenty minutes, where a squat on a plate is a position most people can hold for one. The second is knees and balance: sitting removes the balance demand entirely. It comes in a standard and an extra height version, which is a fit question rather than a feature question, and in matte black or a wood finish.
Power Plate accessories, and which machines they fit
Genuine Power Plate accessories, each listed only against the machines Power Plate states it fits.
Power Shields
A low profile base that sits under the machine to cut the vibration passing into the floor and the noise reaching the room below. They are not interchangeable: the pro7 / pro8 shield, the pro5 shield, the my7 / my8 shield, the my Series shield for the my5, the MOVE shield and the Personal shield are six separate part numbers. Power Plate publishes none for the pro5HP.
Cushions and the lumbar pillow
The Deluxe Support Cushion adds a removable two inch height extension, the Large Support Cushion is an upholstered block with a curved end, the Lumbar Support Pillow is a contoured wedge for the lower back, and the Personal Folding Cushion folds flat and raises you level with the Personal platform. These make floor and seated positions workable for anyone who cannot get comfortably down to plate height.
Stability bars and cable kits
The MOVE and Personal stability bars bolt a handle column onto a compact platform, and both carry serial number requirements, so check yours before ordering. The MOVE bar and its shield cannot be used together, which is what the combined MOVE kit is for. The Cable Accessory Kit and the Total Body Cable Accessory Kit extend the proMOTION cable work on the pro8, which already ships with the Cable Extension Kit in the box.
Each machine page lists the accessories we have a fitment statement for, so you are never guessing at compatibility from a photo. The Personal Power Shield and the Personal Stability Bar are the other pair that cannot be used together, and no combined kit exists for them.
Power Plate in a gym, hotel or health club
Power Plate's own manual names homes, hotels, spas, resorts, health clubs and universities as the places this equipment belongs, and the pro Series is built for the rooms where the machine belongs to the business rather than to one person. The pro8 carries a password enabled locking system with a settings module reserved for the facility manager, which is the difference between a machine members can use and one members can reconfigure. It is rated to 500 pounds, and its screen holds a program library staff can teach from.
Two things to settle before a commercial order. Power Plate's warranty terms define a commercial customer and extend coverage to units used in that customer's business, but they do not break the range down by room type, so confirm the coverage for the model you are placing. And plan the floor: a hard, level surface, about three feet of clear floor around each machine, and a Power Shield if there is a room below.
The three pro machines are gathered on our commercial vibration platforms page, and our guide to equipping a commercial recovery room covers how a plate sits alongside the rest of the room. For multi unit pricing and lead times, see our commercial sales page or call us and we will put a quote together.
Before you order a Power Plate, what to know
The questions that usually arrive after the machine does, answered first.
Put it on a hard, level floor
Power Plate's manuals call for a hard, level surface with about three feet of clear floor around the machine. The pro8's manual adds a rubber mat underneath if it is going on carpet. Not outdoors, and not beside a pool or anywhere humid.
Check the outlet, not the panel
Every platform is universal voltage, AC 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, into a properly grounded outlet. Power Plate publishes no dedicated circuit requirement for any model, and the plug has to stay easy to reach.
Add the platform to your own height
The platform sits 12 inches off the floor on the pro8, 11.5 on the pro5, 10 on the my8 and my5, 9 on the MOVE and 6.7 on the Personal. The pro5HP is the exception: the whole machine is 13 inches tall, which is why it suits a low ceiling. Add your own height before you decide a basement is fine.
Measure the route, not just the spot
The tower machines are heavy. Power Plate publishes the machine itself at 373 pounds for the pro8, 396 for the pro5HP, 298 for the pro5, 245 for the my8 and 153 for the my5, and packed weight is higher again. They arrive by freight carrier and we confirm the delivery date with you once the order is placed. The MOVE at 85 pounds, the REV at 121 and the Personal at 40.4 are a different proposition.
Plan two people and an afternoon
The tower models and the REV arrive to be assembled. If you would rather not do it, our Professional Setup and Assembly service is quoted for your address on the models where Power Plate does not already include one.
Know what you do not need to buy
Each model lists its own contents on its product page. Across the range expect a strap set, an exercise mat or rubber mats, a power cord and the manual, with handgrips and a cable extension kit on the pro8, proMOTION handles on the my8, and a remote on the my5, MOVE and Personal.
Nine minutes, before the coffee is ready
What a vibration plate really changes is the shape of a morning. There is no kit to find, nothing to inflate, no drive anywhere. The machine is already standing in the corner of the spare room where it has been since the freight carrier left it. You press the power button, the console lights, you set a low frequency and step onto the mat with your knees soft and your weight forward on your feet.
The first thing you notice is that a plain calf stretch stops being plain. Then a squat you could hold for a minute becomes a squat you are paying attention to at thirty seconds. Six positions later the timer runs out, you step off, and the floor feels oddly still for a moment. The whole thing took less time than the kettle.
It is also why these machines get used rather than admired. The barrier to a session is nine minutes and the mat that came in the box, and a barrier that low is one people still clear in the second month.

Which Power Plate is right for you?
Three questions narrow the range to one machine faster than any spec table.
Who else is going to use it?
If the answer is one person or one household, the my Series is usually the right answer: the my8 if you want the touchscreen and the program library, the my5 if the 5 inch screen and four quick start programs are enough. If the answer is clients, members, patients or a family with a wide spread of body weights, go to the pro Series. The higher user rating, the wider 25 to 50 Hz band and the pro8's locked settings module exist for exactly that room.
Where will it live, and will it stay there?
A tower machine is a piece of furniture that does not move again. If the plate has to share a living room, disappear under a bed or come out only on certain days, the MOVE and the Personal are the two built for that: 85 pounds and 9 inches tall, or 40.4 pounds and 6.7 inches tall. If there is a room below the one you will train in, add the matching Power Shield at the same time rather than later.
Standing or sitting?
Every platform asks you to hold a position on your feet, your hands or your knees. The REV does not. If knees, balance or stamina make standing work the thing that would stop you training, the bike answers the same question from a seated position rather than being a smaller version of a platform. And if you are torn, call us before you order rather than after.
Not sure which model fits your room?
Tell us the room, the ceiling height, who will use it and what you want out of a session, and we will tell you which machine is right, including when the answer is the cheaper one.
Speak with an Expert, (888) 500-5675Power Plate vibration plates, questions answered
Who makes Power Plate?
Power Plate is owned, manufactured and distributed by Performance Health Systems LLC, based at 401 Huehl Road in Northbrook, Illinois, and that name and address are printed on every sell sheet. Power Plate says on its own about page that it is accredited in over 120 countries. Recovery Room Direct is an authorized Power Plate dealer, so the machine you order here is a new unit from the manufacturer with the full US limited warranty attached to it.
What makes a Power Plate different from a cheaper vibration plate?
Three things you can check before you buy. Power Plate describes its platforms as moving in three planes at once, up and down, front to back and side to side, which it calls tri-planar movement, where much of the category only rocks or only oscillates. Every platform publishes what it runs at, from 25 to 50 Hz in single hertz increments on the pro machines down to a fixed 35 Hz on the Personal. And every model publishes a maximum user weight, from 264 to 500 pounds, which is the most useful single figure for comparing how a platform is built.
How long is a Power Plate session?
Short. Power Plate's manuals set a maximum continuous run time of nine minutes on the tower machines, and the timers are built around that: the pro8 and my8 run from 0 to 9 minutes in 15 second steps, the pro5 offers 30, 45 and 60 second presets, the my5 a countdown of up to 9 minutes, and the Personal runs 30 or 60 second intervals. The guided programs on the pro8 and my8 are longer, 10 to 30 minutes, because they include the set up and the rest between exercises rather than nine straight minutes of vibration.
Who should not use a vibration plate?
Power Plate designs this equipment for healthy adults who are medically cleared for weight bearing exercise, and several of its manuals set the floor at 16 years old. It also publishes a physician reviewed list of conditions that need a doctor's approval first, including pregnancy, an implanted device such as a pacemaker, heart conditions, recent surgery and clotting disorders. That full list is set out higher up this page, and no list covers every condition, so ask your own doctor.
What does the Power Plate warranty cover?
The platforms carry Power Plate's published US limited warranty of three years on hardware, one year on electronics and one year on labor. The Personal Power Plate is warranted one year on each of the three. The REV is different again: two years on the frame and gearbox, one year on the display and six months on wear parts. Accessories are covered for one year against defects in material and workmanship. The terms apply to products bought in, delivered to and used in the United States. Full detail is on our Power Plate warranty page.
How does delivery work, and how long does it take?
Every Power Plate machine and accessory on this page ships free to the contiguous 48 states, by a carrier Power Plate selects. Power Plate quotes a lead time of usually within 4 weeks, and your delivery date is confirmed with you after the order goes in rather than leaving you to track it. Each product page carries the current estimate for that model. The tower machines and the REV arrive by freight carrier and require assembly. What to check before you sign for a freight delivery is set out on our Power Plate shipping page. If it turns out not to be right for you, there is a 30 day return window, with the terms and the restocking fee on our Power Plate return page.
Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized Power Plate dealer?
Yes. We buy directly from Performance Health Systems, the manufacturer, which is why every machine here is new, carries the full manufacturer warranty, and is serviced by the authorized Power Plate service professionals the manuals point you to. It also means we can answer questions about fitment, accessories and lead times from the manufacturer's own documentation instead of guessing. If you want a recommendation before you order, call us and ask for it.
Ready to add a Power Plate to your room?
The full range, genuine Power Plate accessories, free delivery to the contiguous 48 states and an authorized dealer on the other end of the phone. If you already know which model you want, the full range is at the top of the page. If you do not, that is what the phone number is for.
