With a 1 person sauna, three measurements decide the fit: the floor, the ceiling and the circuit. The smallest cabin here is about 28 inches deep, and each infrared cabin's manual calls for a dedicated 120V, 15A circuit. We carry compact indoor cabins, infrared and traditional, as a factory-authorized dealer. Call (888) 500-5675 and we'll check each model's size and manual against your room.

1 Person Saunas: Where a One Person Sauna Fits and What It Needs
A one person sauna is a compact sauna for home built around a single seat. The compact cabins here take about 32 to 36 by 28 to 34 inches of floor, the largest infrared cabin about 41 by 37, and every model is rated for indoor use.

What One Person Gets Inside a 1 Person Sauna
A single person sauna is a small sauna for one: it seats you upright. No model here is long enough inside to lie flat.
Rated for one only
The narrowest cabins here, with four carbon panels and 60 to 62 inches of headroom, for a corner where every inch counts.
Fits: one adult, seated
Full height, room to shift
The common shell, about 39 to 41 by 36 to 37 inches outside with 67 to 68 inches of headroom. Most are rated one to two.
Fits: one adult with room to shift
Stones and steam for one
Stones, water and full standing headroom for one, with the heater chosen separately. See the listing for its size.
Fits: one, or two who sit close
Why some saunas also sit on the 2 Person page: their makers rate them for one to two, and call some a compact unit ideal for one. For two adults most days, start from 2 Person in the size row below.
1 Person Infrared Sauna or a Traditional Room?
Almost every model here is infrared, so the choice is panel type and EMF tier.
Carbon panels around one seat
Four panels in the compact cabins and six or seven in the larger shells, in the walls and around the bench. Most makers' sheets list up to 140°F.
Suits: steady heat at a lower air temperature
Near infrared added
Carbon far infrared panels plus near infrared elements, rated under 3 milligauss at 2 to 3 inches on the makers' sheets.
Suits: a buyer who wants near infrared too
Heater, stones and water
An electric heater warms the room and stones, and a ladle of water gives steam. The heater comes separately, on its own 240V circuit.
Suits: a solo bather who wants steam
Compare EMF numbers only at the same measuring distance; the makers here quote 2 to 3 inches from the panel. More on what a low EMF rating means, or browse traditional saunas in every size.
Room for a 1 Person Sauna: Footprint, Ceiling and Clearance
Most of the makers' manuals ask for 1 to 2 inches of space around the cabin and 10 to 12 inches above it.
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Cabin type | Ceiling to plan for | Outside, width by depth | Outside height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact infrared cabin | About 75 to 79 in | About 32 to 36 by 28 to 34 in | 65 to 67 in |
| Standard infrared cabin | About 83 to 87 in | About 39 to 41 by 36 to 37 in | 73 to 75 in |
| Traditional room | Check the maker's drawing | See the listing | See the listing |
Ceiling figures add the top clearance to the outside height. On some models a roof overhang adds a few inches of depth.
Which Rooms Work, and the Circuit Behind Them
Every model here is rated for indoor use, and most of the infrared manuals add three conditions: dry, level and warm enough.
Dry rules out a spot beside a shower or tub, since most of the manuals want the cabin away from any source of water. A finished basement, spare bedroom or home office can suit one when it meets all three and has the clearance and circuit this page describes.
The manuals also advise against running these cabins below 60°F, and warm-up slows under about 68 to 72°F, so an unheated garage in winter is a poor fit.
The circuit
Each infrared cabin's manual calls for a dedicated 120V, 15A circuit, with nothing else on that breaker running during a session. Keep the outlet easy to reach, with no extension cord, adapter or surge protector.
The traditional room's 240V heater circuit is sized by a licensed electrician from the heater's manual, and the maker's assembly sheet and building codes call for a guard around the heater.
What Moves the Price
Prices sit on each card above. These change the total.
| Cost item | What changes it for one person |
|---|---|
| The cabin | EMF tier, far infrared or full spectrum, the wood, and extras such as audio. |
| Electrical work | Depends on whether a dedicated 120V, 15A circuit already reaches the spot, which your electrician confirms against the manual and local code. The traditional room needs a new 240V circuit. |
| The heater | Built into every infrared cabin. Bought as its own line for the traditional room. |
| Delivery and setup | Curbside freight to the contiguous 48 states is included on most models, and each listing shows its own delivery terms. Professional Setup and Assembly is a paid option on most models; it covers assembly only, and wiring stays with your electrician. |
| Running cost | The cabin's rated watts, from its electrical label or from us, times hours including warm-up, times your rate per kWh. |
Before You Order: Seven Checks for a Solo Sauna
A tape measure and ten minutes.
- Measure the floor with clearance. Add 1 to 2 inches on each side of the outside footprint, as most manuals ask.
- Measure the ceiling. Cabin height plus 10 to 12 inches must clear the lowest beam or duct.
- Check the room in winter. The manuals advise against running these cabins below 60°F room temperature.
- Find the circuit. A dedicated 120V, 15A circuit with an outlet the cord reaches unaided.
- Ask your electrician about GFCI. The 2023 NEC calls for GFCI protection on basement and garage outlets, while the makers list most of these cabins as non-GFCI; your electrician and the model's manual decide.
- Line up a second pair of hands. The manuals call for at least two adults to assemble even a one-seat cabin, or add Professional Setup and Assembly.
- Book the electrician early for steam. The traditional room needs a 240V heater circuit and a heater guard first.
Three Kinds of Solo Sauna Buyers
The home office corner
One user, one free corner and a circuit nothing else uses during a session. A compact cabin about 28 to 34 inches deep takes the least floor of any model here.
Pick the right room ›The basement regular
A finished basement under a 7-foot ceiling. Compact cabins about 65 to 67 inches tall leave room for the top clearance the manuals ask for.

View This Sauna ›1 Person Sauna Questions, Answered
How big is a 1 person sauna?
Outside, the compact cabins here run about 32 to 36 inches wide and 28 to 34 deep, at 65 to 67 inches tall. The standard single cabins are about 39 to 41 by 36 to 37 inches and 73 to 75 tall. A traditional room runs larger, so check its listing for the outside size and the clearance on the maker's drawing.
How much ceiling height does a one person sauna need?
Take the cabin's outside height and add the 10 to 12 inches of top clearance most of the manuals ask for. That puts the compact cabins at about 75 to 79 inches of ceiling and the standard cabins at about 83 to 87. Under a 7-foot ceiling, start with the compact cabins and check the manual's top clearance for any model.
Will a 1 person sauna fit a tall person?
Check seated headroom, not just the outside height. The compact cabins give about 60 to 62 inches inside and the standard cabins about 67 to 68, so if you're tall, compare the standard cabins first. A traditional room lists its own interior height. Then check your ceiling against the answer above.
Can I put a 1 person sauna in a garage or basement?
A finished, heated basement can work if the floor is dry and level and the ceiling clears the cabin plus its top clearance. A garage is harder: the manuals advise against running these cabins below 60°F, and warm-up slows once the room is under about 68 to 72°F.
How long does a 1 person infrared sauna take to heat up?
Most of the makers' manuals here give the same guide: about 20 minutes to reach 100°F from a room above 70°F, and 35 to 40 minutes to reach 125 to 130°F, depending on the model. You can sit inside while it warms, but the manuals note that this slows the climb, and a cooler room slows it too.
Can two people use a 1 person sauna?
Not the cabins rated for one only: where a manual gives a weight rating for a 1 person model, it is one occupant up to 300 lb. The infrared cabins rated one to two can take a second person, but they are only about 35 to 36 inches wide inside, so two adults sit close.
Can you lie down in a 1 person sauna?
No model here is built for lying down. The infrared cabins measure no more than about 36 inches across inside, and the traditional room is sized for sitting too, so every session is seated. If headroom matters more than length, compare interior heights on each listing.
Can I set up a 1 person sauna by myself?
Plan on help. The manuals call for at least two adults to assemble even the one-seat cabins, which arrive in one or two boxes. Professional Setup and Assembly is a paid option on most models, shown on each listing; it covers assembly only, and the wiring stays with your licensed electrician.
