Before You Order a 6 Person Sauna

Six checks for a room that holds the whole group.

  • Walk the delivery route. Freight stops at the curb or driveway, so look at gates, slopes and turns between there and the pad.
  • Ask your town about permits. Your building department decides whether a backyard room this size needs a permit and where it may stand.
  • Book the electrician before the kit ships. Their quote should name every circuit, the breaker sizes they choose and the run to the yard.
  • Settle ground-fault protection early. Recent code editions require it on many outdoor outlets at homes, while several heater makers advise against it. Your electrician and inspector decide.
  • Confirm the heater guard. Residential code requires a guard around a sauna heater, so check it ships with the room or is built to the heater manual.
  • Size the base for the porch and steps. A porch or changing room adds length, and the pad should reach past every wall that bears weight.

Can six people lie down in a 6 person sauna?

No. Makers rate these rooms for six, and none gives a count for people lying down. Some indoor benches flip so you can lie back, some barrel benches are long enough to stretch out on, and a few indoor rooms let the benches come out. For regular stretching out, plan on fewer people per session.

What foundation does a 6 person outdoor sauna need?
