The Barcelona plugs into a standard 120V / 15-amp household outlet using the included 9-foot NEMA 5-15P power cord. No hardwiring, no electrician, no permit required. We recommend a dedicated 15-amp circuit to prevent nuisance tripping if other high-draw appliances are on the same circuit — but it's a recommendation, not a requirement.

The interior is 36" wide by 32" deep. It comfortably seats one adult with room to lean back or stretch slightly. Two slim adults can share it for shorter sessions — it's snug, not spacious. If you're buying primarily for shared use with someone your own size, set expectations accordingly: this is a 1-person sauna that can accommodate 2 occasionally.

The cabin is identical: same hemlock wood, same dimensions, same chromotherapy, same red light, same Bluetooth, same 5-year warranty. The only difference is the heater panel technology. The standard Barcelona uses Low EMF carbon panels rated at 5–10 mG measured at 2–3 inches from the panel surface. The Elite uses PureTech™ panels rated at under 3 mG measured at 6–8 inches from the surface — a reduction of approximately 50–70%. If daily use and minimizing EMF exposure are important to your protocol, the Elite is the right choice.

Expect approximately 20 minutes to reach 100°F, 30 minutes to reach 120°F, and 40 minutes to reach 130°F. In a cold garage or basement below 50°F ambient, add 5–10 minutes. Pre-heat the sauna before you step in — don't wait until it hits your target temperature to get inside, but give it a full 20–25 minutes first. Most users run 20–30 minute sessions at 118–128°F.

EMF (electromagnetic field) measurements from carbon heater panels are reported in milligauss (mG). The Barcelona's Low EMF rating of 5–10 mG is measured at 2–3 inches from the panel surface — closer than where your body typically sits during a session. At 12–18 inches from any panel (seated, leaned back), field levels are significantly lower. Dynamic Saunas does not publish certified third-party lab reports with methodology documentation. If sub-3 mG output and maximum EMF reduction are a priority for daily use, the Barcelona Elite is designed for that.

Yes — with a few caveats. The Barcelona is an indoor-only unit. It's not weatherproofed for outdoor use or exposure to moisture. In a cold garage below 50°F, heat-up time will extend by 5–10 minutes and the 140°F maximum may be harder to sustain. Place the sauna on a level, non-flammable surface — carpet, rubber mat, or hardwood are all appropriate. Direct concrete contact is not recommended; a rubber mat or wood platform works well.

No — the sauna assembles in the room. The individual panels are 5–6 inches wide and carry through a standard 32" or 36" interior doorway without issue. The fully assembled exterior is 39" wide, which wouldn't fit through a standard door — but you never need to move it assembled. The assembly system is tongue-and-groove clip-and-slide; no special tools required.

The 5-year limited warranty covers the carbon heating panels, electronic control boards, wiring harness, interior lighting, and Bluetooth components — the parts you'd otherwise pay the most to replace. Yes — the Barcelona is rated for daily residential use. Most users run 20-30 minute sessions 5-7 days per week. If sharing the sauna, allow a 10-15 minute cool-down between sessions. The 5-year warranty applies under normal residential-use frequency. There are no additional electrical concerns at 120V on a standard 15-amp household circuit.

Infrared sauna use may not be appropriate for everyone. Consult a licensed healthcare provider before your first session if you have cardiovascular disease, high or low blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, diabetes, or are pregnant. Individuals with pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, or other active implanted electronic devices should not use infrared saunas. If you take medications that affect circulation or body temperature, check with your physician first. This is not an exhaustive list.

Traditional steam saunas heat the air to 160–200°F, which then heats the body through conduction and convection. FAR infrared panels emit energy that passes through the air and is absorbed directly by tissue — the same mechanism by which your own body radiates heat. The cabin air temperature stays lower (typically 110–140°F), which many users find more tolerable, while the perceived depth of warmth is often described as greater. Sessions are typically 20–40 minutes rather than 10–15 minutes for steam.
