Dreampod Float Pods — Fifteen Years of Manufacturing

Dreampod’s parent company, Dream Water Ltd., started manufacturing sensory deprivation float pods in 2011 — before floatation therapy had a mainstream moment. Their tanks are now running in float centers, MedSpas, and private recovery rooms worldwide, with over 1,000 businesses powered by Dreampod float tanks.

The engineering is serious. Dreampod float pods are hand-laid fiberglass — not ABS plastic — with UV sterilization, 10-micron filtration, and dual chemical treatment systems. Their cold plunge lineup brings the same construction philosophy to cold water recovery: precision-chilled, filtration-equipped, and built to run daily in commercial environments. Every Dreampod product ships free to the contiguous 48 states.

The Complete Dreampod Lineup

From commercial-grade sensory deprivation pods to home-ready float tanks and precision-cooled ice baths — every Dreampod product category, explained.

V2 & Vmax Float Pods

The commercial standard in sensory deprivation

The V2 is Dreampod’s flagship commercial float pod — the most widely installed fiberglass tank in the float center industry. The Vmax offers 16% more interior volume, enough for two adults side by side. Both run Dreampod’s TCP/IP browser-based control system: manage sessions from any device with a browser, no proprietary app required.

Home Float Series

Commercial quality engineered for residential spaces

The Home Float Pro and Home Float Plus bring fiberglass construction and genuine sensory isolation to home buyers who won’t compromise on quality. The Sport sits between home and commercial — compact enough for most spaces, capable enough for a professional float center. All three use a wired remote control system designed for personal use environments.

Ice Bath & Cold Plunge Line

Precision cooling, commercial-grade filtration

The rectangular Ice Bath and barrel Cold Plunge Barrel are available with Dreampod’s WiFi-connected chiller — temperature accurate to the degree, managed from your phone via the iOS or Android app. Both come in fiberglass. Tub-only FLEX versions use Dreampod’s inflatable technology for buyers providing their own cooling solution.

FLEX Line — Inflatable

Flexible installation, serious performance

The Home Float FLEX and Ice Bath FLEX use Dreampod’s proprietary drop-stitch PVC technology — the same reinforced inflatable material used in commercial standup paddleboards. They inflate rigid in minutes, deflate flat for storage or relocation, and float or chill at the same performance level as their fiberglass equivalents. Best starting point for renters or anyone trialing float therapy before a permanent install.

What Sets Dreampod Apart

Three engineering decisions that distinguish Dreampod from other float pod and cold plunge manufacturers.

Control System TCP/IP & WiFi Control

The V2 and Vmax use TCP/IP browser-based control — any device with a browser connects directly to the pod’s onboard computer, no proprietary app required. The Ice Bath and Cold Plunge Barrel with Chiller use a dedicated WiFi iOS and Android app for remote temperature monitoring and scheduling. Each control architecture is matched to the product’s use case.

Water Purification UV + 10-Micron Filtration

Dreampod float pods use a UV light array, a 10-micron replaceable filter bag in a custom stainless steel enclosure, and a dual chemical injection system. The high Epsom salt concentration (around 1,100 lbs / 500 kg) already creates an inhospitable environment for microorganisms — the UV and filtration system adds a second layer of protection for commercial operators running multiple floats daily.

Shell Construction Hand-Laid Fiberglass

Dreampod float pods and fiberglass cold plunge units use hand-laid fiberglass composite construction — not the vacuum-formed ABS plastic used in lower-cost alternatives. Fiberglass is structurally stronger, holds its shape under daily commercial use, and produces significantly less vibration noise during pump cycles — which matters when the entire point is silence.

What Dreampod Float Therapy Does to Your Brain and Body

You’ve probably read the research. The float tank reduces external sensory input — light, sound, gravity, temperature differential — to as close to zero as physically possible. What nobody fully prepares you for is the first time it actually works. You’re lying in skin-temperature saltwater in a room with no light and no sound, and somewhere around the twenty-minute mark, your nervous system realizes it has nothing to process. It stops scanning. For some people, that’s the first time that’s happened in years.

Research from institutions including the Laureate Institute for Brain Science has explored floatation’s effects on the autonomic nervous system and reported effects on perceived stress and tension. These are peer-reviewed findings from controlled settings — individual results vary, and float tanks are not intended to treat any medical or mental health condition. But for people who float regularly, the draw isn’t abstract. It’s the same reason they schedule it like they schedule sleep.

Dreampod builds the vessel for that experience. The engineering — the fiberglass that deadens sound, the filtration that keeps the water exactly right, the control system that lets a float center operator manage three pods from a browser tab — is in service of one thing: making sure that when you get in, nothing pulls you back out.

Before You Order a Dreampod: Installation Requirements

Float pods have more setup requirements than most home wellness equipment. Four things to confirm before you commit to a model.

Floor Space & Delivery Path

Float pods are larger than most buyers expect. The V2 needs a minimum 9’ × 5’ footprint plus 12–18 inches of clearance on all sides for maintenance access. More critically: measure the delivery path from your street to the installation room. Pods arrive freight-shipped in factory crates. A 36-inch doorway is the minimum for most models — standard interior doors often need to be removed, or the pod must enter a space before walls or doors are finished. Confirm delivery specs for your model before assuming your space qualifies. We can provide exact crate and clearance dimensions for any Dreampod product before you purchase.

Ceiling Height

Fiberglass float pods have lifting lids that open upward. You need at least 8 feet of unobstructed ceiling clearance — 8.5 feet is better. The lid on the V2 opens approximately 24–28 inches above the pod rim. A 7’6” basement ceiling with exposed ductwork or structural beams can create a real problem. Measure your actual clearance (including any overhead pipes, beams, or HVAC runs) before assuming your space qualifies. The Sport and home-series pods have slightly lower lid heights — call us at (888) 500-5675 for model-specific numbers.

Floor Load Capacity

A Dreampod V2 filled with salt water weighs approximately 2,500–3,000 lbs (shell + 200 gallons of water + 1,100 lbs of Epsom salt). Standard residential floor joists are typically rated for 40–50 lbs per square foot; a fully loaded V2 on a 9×5-foot footprint puts approximately 55–65 lbs/sq ft on the floor system. Ground-floor or basement slab installation is strongly recommended for all fiberglass float pods. Upper-floor installation is possible but typically requires a structural engineer’s assessment and sometimes floor reinforcement. Budget for that consultation before purchase if you’re considering a second-story install.

Plumbing, Drainage & Ventilation

Float pods produce significant humidity — 1,100 lbs of Epsom salt in a sealed chamber at 93–95°F generates moisture that will damage walls, ceilings, and wiring without proper ventilation. An exhaust fan ducted outside (minimum 50–80 CFM) is required; an HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) is more energy-efficient for the long run. You also need a drain path for periodic water changes: gravity drain to a floor drain is simplest, otherwise a sump pump system works. Electrical requirements vary by model: home pods typically need a standard 120V/15A outlet; the V2 and Vmax require a dedicated 240V/30A circuit. Electrical and ventilation work should be completed before delivery.

Choosing the Right Dreampod Product

Three questions worth thinking through before you decide.

Float Pod or Cold Plunge — Two Different Recovery Protocols

Float pods and cold plunge tubs are not interchangeable — they target different recovery mechanisms. Floatation works by removing sensory input and allowing the nervous system to decompress; users report improved sleep quality, reduced perceived stress, and the ability to mentally reset after high-load periods. Cold plunge targets the vascular system — repeated cold exposure may support circulation, may reduce perceived muscle soreness after intense training, and may improve cold tolerance over time. Some buyers want both. Most Dreampod buyers start with one based on their primary recovery bottleneck.

Home or Commercial Grade — What That Distinction Really Means

Dreampod’s commercial pods (V2, Vmax, Sport) are built for daily multi-user operation in professional float centers — 10+ floats per day, 365 days per year. Their home pods (Home Float Pro, Home Float Plus) are built for 1–2 floats per day in residential environments. The engineering differences are real: commercial pods have more robust filtration cycling, heavier shell construction, and control systems designed for staff operation. If you’re opening a float center, the V2 or Vmax. If you’re floating at home, the Home Float Pro or Plus gives you everything you need.

Fiberglass or FLEX — The Trade-Off That Matters

Fiberglass Dreampod products are permanent installations. Once a V2 or Home Float Pro is placed and filled, it stays there — the shell is rigid, heavy, and requires a dedicated space with appropriate ventilation and humidity management. The FLEX line (Home Float FLEX, Ice Bath FLEX) uses Dreampod’s drop-stitch inflatable technology: the walls become structurally rigid when inflated, but the product can be deflated, moved, and reinstalled elsewhere. The FLEX option is meaningfully less expensive and far more relocatable. The trade-off is the shell warranty — 6 months on PVC vs. 2 years on fiberglass — and the fact that fiberglass simply sounds and feels more inert inside. For a permanent home setup with a dedicated room, fiberglass wins. For renters, anyone planning to move, or anyone who wants to trial float therapy before committing to a permanent install, FLEX is the right starting point.

Dreampod Questions, Answered

Who manufactures Dreampod products?

Dreampod products are manufactured by Dream Water Ltd., an international company founded in 2011 with production facilities and distribution in Salt Lake City, Utah; Sydney, Australia; and Asia Pacific. They are one of the few companies in the world that manufactures fiberglass float pods at scale — not a white-label reseller of another manufacturer’s product. Over 1,000 businesses worldwide run on Dreampod float tanks, including commercial float centers that have operated the same units for over a decade. Recovery Room Direct is an authorized Dreampod dealer: all warranty claims go through us directly, and you deal with our team — not an overseas support line.

What warranty comes with a Dreampod product?

Warranty coverage depends on the product type. Fiberglass float pods and fiberglass cold plunge units carry a 2-year warranty on the shell and structural components. Electronic and mechanical components — including the pump, chiller unit, filtration system, and computer controls — carry a 1-year warranty. FLEX-line products with inflatable PVC construction carry a 6-month warranty on the PVC material. Dreampod’s warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. It does not cover damage from modification, misuse, or unauthorized repairs. Contact us at (888) 500-5675 to open a warranty claim — we coordinate directly with Dreampod on your behalf.

How much does it cost to run a Dreampod float pod?

The primary ongoing cost is Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). Dreampod float pods require approximately 1,100 lbs (500 kg) for the initial fill. You’ll replenish 50–100 lbs per year to compensate for water carried out by floaters between sessions. Salt costs roughly $0.40–$0.80 per pound in bulk, putting the annual salt budget at $40–$80. Electricity is the other variable: the pump and heating element run continuously to maintain water temperature, typically adding $30–$60 per month to your electricity bill depending on your local rate and room insulation. Total annual operating cost for a home float pod runs approximately $400–$800 — compare that to the cost of regular float center visits at $70–$120 per session.

What space and room requirements does a Dreampod float pod need?

Space requirements vary by model. The V2 requires approximately 9’ × 5’ of floor space plus clearance for the door to open; the Vmax is larger. The Home Float Pro and Home Float Plus are designed to fit in a standard bedroom or dedicated room. Minimum ceiling height is typically 8 feet. Beyond footprint, float pods produce humidity — a ventilation system or exhaust fan is necessary to prevent moisture buildup on walls and ceilings. Floors must support the weight of the pod filled with salt water: a full V2 can weigh 2,500–3,000 lbs. Ground-floor or basement installation is strongly recommended for fiberglass pods. We can provide exact dimension sheets for any model — call (888) 500-5675.

Is Recovery Room Direct an authorized Dreampod dealer?
